I was reading some of the posts here and got to thinking about the time Jodi has spent on the stand. I asked myself... "What has stood out the most in her testimony?" I drew a blank because nothing she has talked about the past... ? days has really stood out or made an impact.

I was so nervous about the 'sex tape' I was worried that Travis was going to be mean and really abusive and he wasn't... at all. He was actually pretty nice. He told her she was 'photogenic' and 'pretty' and 'amazing' he even went so far as to call her a 'superwoman' So, he did call her some names... but I just dont see it in the negative/abusive way she tries to portrait him. Everyone has heard the phrase: "A man wants a lady in public and a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 in the bedroom" and Travis in a twisted kind of way was telling her that he had found his '🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 in the bedroom' Sure, he talked about his fantasies (not knowing that he was being recorded) He was a man. Jodi baited him!! Jodi is the deviant, not Travis.

I got to thinking about how she said he would call her and be mean to her. I think she baited him there too! We havent seen the texts she sent to him but I'm willing to bet that she provoked him... because Jodi DEMANDS attention, even if it's negative attention. She knew in her mind that if she were to leave Travis completely alone he would move on and forget her. She couldnt handle it and she wouldnt let him forget her. As far as the sex... she *knew* that she was his first and she used it to her advantage. She was willing to do anything and everything he wanted, no matter how degrading it might be. What a witchy woman Jodi is!

The defense had done a good job of muddying the waters with sex and filth and lies. What I hope the jury remembers and keeps in mind is that this trial is NOT about a dysfunctional sexual relationship. It's about a young man who was brutally murdered not once... not twice.. but THREE times. I have faith that when Juan gets up there... their memories will be jogged and locked in on the real reason they are there.
That is what I think is so sad....the defense has been busy muddying the waters and throwing out all this supposed salacious sex stuff. The media has a field day with all that...and yet here is the defense trying to make the jury forget that this young man was horribly and brutally killed...rather...OVERkilled. In all her lies and backtracking and graphic useless sexual testimony and overly detailed testimony (overly detailed where it doesn't matter!) and Nurmi's draaaaaaaaaagging this all out...somehow the real crime seems to have been forgotten. For some odd reason I get the feeling she is dictating her memoirs rather than testifying in a trial literally for her life. I hope that in some way Juan can bring the crime back into this and remind the jury what they are there for.

I said this in my last post - I don't think the upside down plates were done until after AZ, but done out in the desert while burning clothes. JMO

Now, after thinking it through, I realize she was trying to avoid detection in AZ completely, so that's where she'd want the upside down plates. But at first, I was thinking she wouldn't want to be stopped in AZ for upside down plates. :waitasec: Which is it?

I believe she wanted to be stopped by the police outside of AZ. Remember why she kept the receipts for everywhere instead of AZ. The police pulling her over outside of AZ would be her "solid" proof that she wasn't in AZ. I believe that once she got close to Utah she flipped the plates. She didn't fear being pulled over with the murder accessories at this point. She already took care of that in the desert. She didn't want to be stopped anywhere in AZ. I bet she was the perfect driver, hands at 10-2, signaling before changing lanes lol.

I was waiting for that. I think that was the only thing they didn't do. jmo

Yet. Gahh...this whole thing has tainted my view LOL.

Her lies flow so plentifully, we're now all confused. I think Nurmi is using her lies to confuse and befuddle.

You can bet they will have some insanely implausible "reason" JA had both knife and gun handy in the bathroom. There will be epic howels of indignation from Websleuths as well as tearing of hair and renting of garments.

Oh-oh, don't wear your good clothes watching that part of the trial. BBM

excellent post, Laceybug!

i think the DT is doing a miserable job of trying to prove self defense... their pièce de résistance, the sex tape, was a HUGE mistake for them.. it backfired, imo.
so now they're trying to amp up the pedophile angle.. but it is SO contrived, such an obvious attempt at trying to make Travis an absolute monster, that it screams desperation!

they will not be able to skirt around her vicious murder of another human being. they cannot dismiss j.a's many over-the-top lies - she's a liar, plain and simple.
i see her "suicide" claim as nothing but manipulation. she's incapable of taking any responsibility for anything she's done.

i'm here for Travis.. he's still making friends.

If she were put in solitary, I wonder how long it would take before she started to get on her own nerves?!?!?!?! LOL!!

:floorlaugh: This one deserved more than just a thanks. LMFAO, how long WOULD it take before she got on even her own last nerve? :laughcry:.

I just know that JUAN WILL! I don't have a lot of faith in the justice system after CA... BUT I DO have faith in JUAN! He has a lot on his shoulders. I pray for strength for TA's family and friends... but I also pray for Juan Martinez. He's one of the best there is... but he too... is just a man. I think it speaks volumes that he sits there alone and not with a team. (How many attorneys will it take to convict Jodi Arias? JUST JUAN!)

Watching Nancy Grace and she's showing footage of JA seriously crying the day they played the sex tape (before court I think?). I missed most of this week so what's the general concensus on those tears?

Also Nancy just cracked me up saying "Oh dear Lord in Heaven, do not take me inside Jodi Arias' head. That's just where I don't wanna be". lol she's so funny sometimes.

I apologize if this video has been posted before but the attorney gives a compelling potential defense for Jodi's lies, that she was trying to "protect him.*" I disagree with his take about the murder, I don't feel that the defense will be able to argue that he kept lunging after her but will have to argue that she "snapped" from the abuse. That said, it's an interesting (although enraging, and very possible) take...

*Although, should they go with the martyr act that Jodi was trying to protect Travis, the defense will have to contend that she had previously threatened him with the ruining of his reputation.

That boat has sailed as Her defense is self defense. that decision may have been made when she was her own attorney, but past point of no return. She is locked in to that theory ..moo

She will not go mental. She'll learn and adapt to the new rules and testify accordingly. She's a chameleon and will do what she needs to do for her own best interest. She's not scared or intimidated by where she is or what she's testifying to...JM knows this. I dont think he'll try to get any sort of reaction out of her; he will try to get to the facts.

moo
She seemed a little startled and/or taken aback when JM questioned her about that email. She did however, seem to quickly gain her composure with him IMO. I think it's going to be interesting how this pans out and how those two (Arias & Martinez) deal with each other when they finally come face-to-face. If he limits her to yes or no questions I think she's going to go into a panic mode.

I think JM is going to start out very easy on her. I'm thinking he may even let her "ramble" some like she's been doing. He's gonna let her get comfortable and then ... he's gonna start hammering. Easy at first and then ... he's gonna back her up against a corner and she won't be able to talk her way out of it. Martinez is going to make it VERY CLEAR to that jury just exactly what took place the day Travis was murdered.

It's my understanding that Travis's grandma passed away. Was that before or after Travis was murdered?

I remember Travis's sister talking about how it was their Grandmother who called and inform her (& other family members) about Travis's death.

That is media coverage with family - Does that fit in the OK realm as far as discussing fam?

I agree with you. She will never admit it was her fault. Her last words will probably be that Travis deserved what she did... or that he made her do it.

bbm I got a lump in my throat when I read that. I look at the pictures of Travis.. and have such a soft spot in my heart for him. I wonder what he might have done... how great he might have been. I dont know how his family sits there day after day after all these years.... I pray they are given some closure.. I'm sure they, more than any of us.. just need to know what happened that day. The not knowing is hard on the mind.

Thanks. It is worth watching. I like Joey Jackson's way of explaining it objectively from both the defense and prosecution stance.

He's right about the jurors giving the Prosecution the creative license to question her a tad more harshly because the jurors want answers that make sense. Right now, they have a bunch of Jodi's sex stories and pouting she wanted a meaningful relationship while stalking and pushing herself at this young man.

Once she's convicted and sentenced to death, her first line of appeal will be ineffective counsel. She (and her new team of appellate attorneys) will claim she was pressured to go with this defense, that maybe she didn't do it after all, that maybe she was temporarily insane, that maybe aliens came down from the stars and did it in Ninja costumes and she didn't get a fair shake at a fair defense. And it will be decades of arguing all of that BS to try and free her.

And she will still die in prison. Old, grey, alone, hopefully forgotten.

SO far almost 7 days of her testifying. The similar case that keeps getting thrown around here, that of Wendi Andriano, had her testifying for 9 days. At this rate it looks like Jodi will exceed Andriano's....since I sense that we have all next week AT LEAST for her to get to just before the murder and then MAYBE the week after we will GET to the murder....then maybe another week for what she did AFTER the murder.

I would like it if we could get a day of Juan cross-examining her for each day we have been subjected to the defense's questioning of her. Then again, I honestly don't think it would take several weeks for the prosecution to tear down her lies.

You bring up a good point. I wonder if Nurmi is going to keep her up there after she describes the murder, IF she describes the murder, to detail why she lied to the cops etc. We could be in for another 2 weeks of testimony!
