This woman is out of her friggin mind! She's pizzed beyond belief because he doesn't give her credit for editing a portion of his "book"! She sounds like a misguided and confused teenager with a prim vocabulary! WEIRD is all I can say!

Any injury to the head will probably cause the victim to be in shock so whether he was shot first or stabbed he would have been in shock which is the body's reaction to a severe injury. I don't think any of his injuries were superficial as most, if not all were deep. He also had an stabbing injury to his head where a piece of his skull is missing and that would have caused him to go into shock. I believe he may have told Jodi to go for help because he was in shock and did not know what was happening to him. I don't think Travis attacked her at all. I think she took him by surprise, maybe while he was drying his hair with a towel. When your body goes into shock you sometimes can't make sense of what is happening to you. jmo

Absolutely- ITA - I was assaulted during a mugging outside an old apt. I lived in. My head was slammed against a curb I do not know how many times. I did go into some sort of state of shock like you describe. It was a small wound; it only needed 3-4 staples, but my GOD, it bled like crazy. My hair was soaked, my shirt, coat, arms, hands, on my shoes….
This is the reason I am a knife first person, and not GSW first. I believe the ME 100% when he says he believes the GSW was last because there is no blood or bruising surrounding the wound from where the bullet entered, the passage, and into the L cheek bone.
I find it impossible that it happened in any other order, even though the alternative theory is absolutely compelling in many aspects.
I am not a ME, and am curious why the "gun first" folks think there was no blood present? I know there was someone on here last night who works in some neurology field? Any other people with thoughts on this?
Was here last night when people were discussing the sequence. I haven't had time to even skim through the posts tonight so apologize to jump in with this.
Thanks! :seeya:

ETA: Having read through thread now want to thank Zuri, K_Z & others for sharing their knowledge about this.

The absolute awfulness of this crime, and the lack of remorse after four years, keeps me awake at night.

Could someone please point me in the direction where I might learn about the early years- pre Jodi- of Travis and his siblings? I have come to this late, (only during the trial, I'm Australian), and understand that Travis had a tough time of it early, which he managed to overcome. Someone wrote earlier that Travis is still making friends, and I really love that idea! Thank you.

MINUS 4 -- Travis had challenges growing up..it seems like his siblings were/are very close, but the parents were into drugs (meth/crack I think) and money was always short...

Hi, just catching up and finally able to register today (thanks, WS mods!), but my digital camera purchased in 2007 doesn't make a click when a photo is snapped. My newer cameras and phone have the option to turn a sound on or off.

Love this forum, awesome community and way to support Travis' memory.

Welcome to Websleuths!

After wading through another 27 pages of speculation about which came first, the gunshot or the knife, I think the only thing that will help is for forum members to pitch in and pool their funds and hire whatever renowned pathologist you believe will give the correct answer. Obviously Dr. Horn is not believed by a significant percentage of folks and I haven't seen that anyone else with medical examiner qualifications has opined here, so to put this all to rest, it's time to commit some money to the cause.

This will also serve as a test of how important and committed forum members are to finding out which came first--put up some real $$$ to pay for a Dr. Baden or whoever to do a thorough independent and objective review of the autopsy, the xrays, the path reports, etc. and render his/her opinion.

What say you WS members? Committed enough to the cause? You'll have to fund this yourselves because the State of AZ already has an expert opinion. It won't be cheap--you're probably looking at $7K to $10K but you will get an answer.

My understanding is that one needn't have ME qualifications in order to opine about the sequence of JA's attack. In fact I wasn't aware any qualifications were required in order to discuss ANY subject here. Perhaps I am wrong?:waitasec:

This is a discussion forum and we have been discussing. :seeya:

You, of course are welcome to have unquestioning faith in the testimony of any witness you chose, just as anyone else is welcome to have a differing opinion. :D

"Make no mistake: Bullets usually kill when they enter the brain. The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention estimates that in 90 percent of brain injuries that stem from firearms, the patient dies. Of the lucky 1 in 10, virtually all are thought to live with persistent disabilities. In the last 15 years, however, better treatments have greatly improved the odds of survival. "In Iraq, we were fooled many times," said Duke University neurosurgeon Gerald Grant, who was an Air Force physician at Joint Base Balad in that country. Patients whose scans showed that shrapnel had crossed between the brain's hemispheres or cut a wide swath of destruction - injuries long thought to be a swift sentence of death - would often live. But the result, as Giffords may yet show, is almost always a person profoundly changed by the injury. As many as half of those who have had penetrating brain injury will suffer epileptic seizures and will have a higher risk of them for the rest of their lives, experts say.
Because these injuries often leave a victim fully conscious during and immediately after, many will retain vivid memories of the horror and suffer flashbacks, nightmares, anxiety and withdrawal, the hallmarks of post-traumatic stress disorder. "

This is the introduction to the book Travis was writing and gives you an idea of what his childhood was like. It brought me to tears. I highly recommend reading it to anyone who hasn't already!

There was evidence early on that they tip of the knife was broken off. Perhaps embeded in his skull or something? Its all vague but I remember something to that effect.

Also wouldn't the roommates notice a knife missing? I just assume she had some kind of hunting knife in her purse that she used to slash the tires as well.

bbm
That's my thought, too, bob. The roommates had use of the kitchen, so they should know to a pretty good extent, IMO, what might be missing -- especially if his knives were in sets, as so many are. She certainly had a knife handy when she allegedly slit those tires.

When she planned that final trip to his house, she certainly had a "to do him in" list, and she checked it twice, IMO. And it was a pretty good one, too. She just couldn't make herself disappear when she needed to... and she thought she had covered her tracks much better than she actually did. It surely didn't take 'em long to arrest her, did it?

shanked maybe you mean?

Sent from my SGH-T989 using Tapatalk 2

Yes, I believe the correct prison grammar would be "She was shanked with a shiv."

Wack-a-doodle...28 year-old woman writing about how she feels that she didn't get the appropriate "credit" for editing a guy's unpublished book:

https://www.facebook.com/Justice4Travis

They should have gone for "insane" instead of "self-defence". She sounds like an f'd up teenager to me.

moo

IDK, that wouldn't pizz anyone else off?

It would probably chap my arse. :o

So very sad yet ironic. Jodi is the one claiming abuse by a spoon and a belt. Many of us came from that era. I know i did. They were never beatings just a crack to say smarten up. Did we raise our children the same? No. I/we don't believe it's the way to shape behavior. Having said that Travis did live in an abusive environment. He came a long way. Considering he could have gone down the same path as his Parents. Kudos to the Grandparents who raised Travis and his siblings. Comparing Jodi's childhood and Travis? Hands down Travis knew abuse and neglect.

I am 12+ pages behind...and I'm sure this has been said....but gun shot and stab wounds aside- his throat was slashed FGS. There are hardened, violent criminals out there who don't have the stomach for such a viscous act...that in itself is NOT a self defense wound. Period.

Moo....

(....and continuing to read.....)

Don't feel bad, I'm several threads behind. :) I'm trying to catch up on real life stuff before trial resumes Tuesday. :)

Who are "they?" Did they view TA's body in person? Did they have access to all the reports, tests, investigator's notes, etc, etc? There isn't a question about which wound was the first fatal one--we already know it was the neck wound. The big debate is if TA was shot before that neck wound or after.

To me it doesn't matter because either way the case is 1st degree murder and eligible for the DP. To me it's a completely moot point simply because it doesn't change the outcome of the case, it doesn't change the charges, it doesn't change the potential sentence criteria, and TA is still dead regardless of which order the wounds occurred.

However, to many it apparently does matter very much--it appears to matter enough to debate it for thousands of posts, though no one can determine the correct answer from the numerous lay opinions expressed and for whatever reason the expert ME opinion (of Dr. Horn) is simply not trusted or believed (by some).

You can always skip over posts that you don't like. :D

And if you see one that violates TOS, just report it.

HTH!
