Creeps you out? He was so sweet to Jodi. So kind and patient even though he was clearly tired and sleepy. Being an imperfect Mormon (being lustful) doesn't make him or anyone else slimy or creepy.

Stabbing a vulnerable man almost 30 times does.

May Travis rest in peace.

I second that! The defense is claiming he "controlled, used, and abused her" yet...

The convo was about random things in the beginning and SHE turned it sexual. He complimented her multiple times telling her she was photogenic, etc. I took the 12 year old comment as nothing more than a bad age reference for the "having her first orgasm" remark. He didn't blow her off once the sex talk stopped. He was falling asleep and continued to talk to her and sing (so sweet) with her.

Take a second and wonder what people would think of you if your most intimate/naughty conversations were played. Now take that and add the other party twisting the context and claiming they weren't into it, etc. I know I wouldn't come across very well either! :blushing:

As far as the name calling goes... I agree that his texts come across as mean, but they could easily be taken out of context. The way that JA talks on that sex tape... I wouldn't be surprised if she said stuff to him during sex like "Yeah baby, you like that? Who's your dirty little 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬?" Just sayin!!

I don't think the whole Mormon guy / guy who likes sex should be all that shocking IMO. He was a 30 year old man who was involved with an adult woman. I've dated guys who were into much freakier stuff than he was! JA even said that they were always trying to "top themselves" so no surprise. I'm a little surprised the whole "I want to tie you to a tree" thing is being blown up so much. Ummm... how is that much different than being tied to or handcuffed to a bed?

Everyone is entitled to their opinions, of course, just putting my two cents out there on how he has come across to me. :seeya:

:moo: :twocents: :rocker:

So we do know that in no way did Travis deserve the horrifying death he got. He classified Jodi as someone he could have sex with, but he wanted to marry a virginal mormon (even though HE would not come to his marriage a virgin). Words like "slimy" or "creepy" are very subjective, one person's slimy is not necessarily someone elses. Because he was willing to have sex with Jodi without wanting to date or marry her, it is easy to see how some believe he "used" her or was "creepy". Personally, I hink that someone who wants to marry a virgin, but allows himself the kinds of sexual escapades he enjoyed with JA does not have a tremendous amount of integrity when it comes to intimate relationships.

And I do hold Travis responsible for acting on his sex urges. JA was evil, malicious, cunning, and murderous, but No one can tempt someone into sex without their consent. Travis decided to continue his sex relationship with Jodi. Unfortunately, she was not a safe person to do this with.

I'm not looking forward to the DV expert or really to any person the defense puts on the stand. I don't believe Jodi was an abused person by Travis. I do think he said some rude things to her and I do think he was immature and I also think their relationship (if you can call it that) was quite dysfunctional. But an "abused" woman? No way. She wasn't afraid of him--she craved him and wanted to be near him as much as possible. She drove 1,000 miles just to murder him.

No, the only witnesses I am interested in are the ones the state presents. The only attorney I'm interested in hearing is Martinez.

If I want fiction I'll go pick up a book by a talented novelist. The dreck that Arias and her attorneys are spewing forth is not even remotely interesting. I've never been so bored by sexual talk. Now that's some real "talent" to make sex as dull as watching paint dry.
Imo....if a credible DV expert says she was abused I will lose all faith in humanity. :-(

She may have 'convinced' herself that she was 'abused' by now, but ....no....she was not. Moo :moo: :moo: :moo:

I am going to take whatever the DV expert says with a grain of salt. We have to keep in mind that she is going to testify based on assuming all of JA's testimony (JA is a pedo, has choked her, broke her finger, etc.) is true.

I'm more interested in seeing how JM's cross of the DV expert will go!

Just a thought...wanted to see what you guys think...

You know how Ms. A...s smirks and smiles (lack of self-awareness), while delivering horrible details? What if the Pros. displayed time-coded still frames where she smirks/smiles inappropriately in her testimony, while a body language expert, like a Dr. Lillian Glass, questions, "Why are you smiling when you are testifying to abuse Do you like abuse?"

I wouldn't call "I want to tie you to a tree and put it in your a-hole" sweet.

And it isn't the imperfect Mormon part that bugs me, it is pretending to be perfect on the outside. I'd rather people are honest about their imperfections. I'm just particularly sensitive to falsely religious people though since my stepdad is a total con man psychopath who is ALSO a preacher.

Anyway, I'm not trying to Travis-bash. Overall he seemed like a decent guy, who had immature relationships. He didn't in any way deserve what Jodi did to him.

But he didn't really zip tie her to a tree. He was voicing his fantasies. There is nothing wrong with having fantasies or sharing them with one's lover. It doesnt mean you act them all out. JMO

It is really strange how she smiles and smirks at inappropriate times! I can't remember who said it, or which show they were on, but I liked this description: Her affect is off and doesn't match what she's describing. It's as if she is telling someone else's story and therefore has no personal emotions towards it. Something like that and I totally agree! Sociopath! She creeps me out!

exactly ITA...
from one of my 'socio/psychopath books:
Psychopaths seem proud of their ability to lie. When asked if she lied easily, one woman with a high score on the Psychopathy Checklist laughed and replied, "I'm the best. I'm really good at it, I think because I sometimes admit to something bad about myself. They'd think, well, if she's admitting to that she must be telling the truth about the rest." She also said that she sometimes "salts the mine" with a nugget of truth." If they think some of what you say is true, they usually think it's all true."
and
another psychopath says:
In a rambling (ha) book about hate, violence, and rationalizations for his behavior, he made this revealing comment: "There are emotions -- a whole spectrum of them -- that I know only through words, through reading and in my immature imagination.

I don't think he should be condemned if he did. What people do privately and with consent is not abuse and not my business.

Yes, exactly. It would only be relevant if Travis had shared those fantasies and Jodi had said "OMG, I hate that. Stop it!" He didn't force her to do anything. The truth is she loved it.

Travis is not on trial for being a less-than-perfect Mormon. If we start judging others (religious folk) based on whether they have lustful desires or not then most people in the world would not be spared, not even Gandhi. I think it's in bad taste to start calling him 'slimy' 'creepy' etc. when he is the victim of a horrific murder. Again, Jodi Arias is on trial. Travis is not. Regardless of whether you believe in Jodi's guilt or not the least you can do is to not tarnish the character of this poor butchered boy needlessly and without evidence.

I think Gordon Hinckley was the President of the LDS church. When did she write that?- he died in Jan, 08.

<DELETED CONTENT CONSCIOUSLY> wow. I just went way beyond what was necessary to relate to some of JA's behaviors as a young woman, but I ultimately could not place myself in the position of actually even for a moment just CUTTING, let alone shooting and stabbing, almost decapitating a human being.
I was legitimately going to relate to the part where we are all sort of seeking some kind of control, possibly persuasion via human sexuality (about which I took 3 courses at Ohlone College, but still cannot understand this pathology)... I just thought I could place myself there for just that one moment of human need, sexuality, pleasure (even if only for the other person). But as I contemplated my full argument, I found myself at a loss.
I have now given a huge amount away as to my own character, but I feel it might be beneficial for others. We all have our needs as human beings sexually, whether it is physical or psychological. But the reality is that there is no logical way that regardless of religious or ethical beliefs, we might make the same mistakes that TA did with the influence of JA (or vice versa to be fair).
The pair of JA and TA unfortunately and tragically ended in what should never have happened. Making a legitimate parallel to killing the person with whom you share that "one thing" (p.s. it's not just you, it's everyone - we all have our "one thing").... it just does not jive.
I will likely delete this so please don't quote me, but we are all deviant according to those to whom we look up for appreciation. True deviants and perverts aside, we all have our "things".
Aside from my two glasses of Sauv Blanc, I am also compelled to say that there is a clear victim here. His name is Travis Alexander. No psychological muddlement shall refute this fact. FACT.
Okay now before I'm banned, just gonna say it's all IMO :)

PS- Muddlement is now an official word. So there.
