Well I think we can pretty much only conclude he's a 'total jerk' based on the testimony of someone who has lied prolifically from the time this crime hit the headlines.

I, for one, will take the word of dozens of Travis' friends, co-workers, and family over the account of a proven liar who faces the death penalty for his murder.

To those people, Travis' generosity knew few bounds. Whether it was offering a ride, a place to crash or buying groceries when people were struggling financially. To those people, Travis had the unique ability to make them believe they were capable of great things. To those people, Travis had a sense of humor so big he could have a room of strangers laughing in mere moments. To those people, he was loved and respected.

Jodi's own admissions - until 2010 - only reinforce what every one else who has spoken of him has claimed.

If believing the sentiments of many who knew him over the testimony of the woman who butchered him is also equivalent to placing him on a pedestal then I am guilty as charged. I simply believe, while not perfect, Travis was just a good, decent, caring guy trying to find out where he fit in this world - like most of us.

MOO

The thanks button just insnt enough! :tyou:

Copied this from the timeline thread. This is the first time I've seen this letter that Jodi composed to Travis. Sheesh, she is sooooo needy. It just shows me what I've though all along - Stalker, upset that he rejected her.

She may have been better off to go for an insanity defense.

Sure makes him sound abusive (not!). The woman is bat sh** crazy!

Random question: How did Ryan Byrnes know Jodi had "close to a six-pack" on her abs if their clothes remained on?

In his testimony, he said he "kissed her stomach;" Pants and shirts may have not come "off", but he definitely got hers "up" high enough (or open enough) to get up close and personal with her tum button.

That's completely doable. It's really easy to keep the arms covered and the belly exposed when there are buttons running down the front of your shirt. :)

If you're implying that you think they went further than Burns (sp?) testified to - in open Court - with his new wife sitting right there - I'm going to have to wholeheartedly agree with you!

 No kidding. She is really a piece of work!

I think that letter is good for the prosecution! It clearly shows how much she wanted his attention/approval/recognition!

Oh wow. Is there a .pdf or scan of the actual letter anywhere?

Too late (I think - lawyers awake yet?) for a fourth version, isn't it?

She already used up her three wishes and look where they've gotten her.

:dunno: I happened to stumble on it in the Timeline thread.

I'm pretty passionate about my defense of Travis but I didn't get here by accident. There are a half dozen blogs by his friends and his facebook memorial maintained by friends and family that really show a stranger what he was like. Unfortunately most of them are private now. One source of insight remaining though is his legacy page. If you go back to the time of the murder and funeral there are many accounts from friends and family.

Despite what Jodi would have us believe there were scores of people directly impacted by the loss of Travis. He was very greatly loved. In my experience those who are callous, abusive jerks who use people like toilet paper usually aren't met with such an outpouring of emotion after they're gone. JMO

I first got interested when I saw the 48 hours when it first aired and at that point I couldn't understand 1. why ninjas would leave her alive and 2 why she went on to Utah to see the new guy and not call to help travis, her very close friend.

I'm still going back listening to interviews and phone calls. And I still amazes me the amount of useless details she adds. The one that made me laugh out loud was he asked her what kind of car. She said a ford focus and it didn't have cruise control and she likes cruise control on road trip. Because that is so relevant in the whole conversation.

Right right. So he lifted her shirt and kissed her stomach and never once even touched her $3300 breasts. Right. Or did anything else. Yep. Knowing her previous MO's with the boys, I'm sure she led him right into temptation and more. But you're right, he was probably a virgin when he married his wife! That's his story and he's sticking to it.

One that made me laugh was when she was talking about being outside with Travis, and another friend was nearby, and he had parked his car facing west.

She embellishes the strangest things!

I wonder what JA's defense team is telling her abut how the trial is going? So far, they've not been able to reel in her 'inventive' story telling. Even when Nurmi tries to interrupt, she corrects HIM and continues with some vital piece of info he obviously didn't want the jury to be clear on.

So, does her defense team spend these 4 days with her or allow JA to stew and mull and create a new and colorful dialog of 'facts'?

She has done this through the ENTIRE testimony. It is crazy. And makes me want to smack her across the face. Shut up already. Listening to the interviews with Detective Flores was insane. But her on the stand is just bizarre. Her attorneys really should be reading this forum and taking some notes.

I say just let her keep babbling. She is only making it worse! :gavel:

Here you go, Linda from NY! (Note: image cropped and squeezed a bit to hopefully not blow margins but still be legible. Text is completely unaltered). See link below for all the Court Documents from that Huffington Post page.

Help? Can someone explain why I could post an image from my computer the other day at full size but today my only option is a thumbnail? TIA :)

Help #2: Now it's not even a thumbnail, but a link. I hate that... And it's below the link I said would be below. Argh...

Thank you, paperwing!

I had never seen these documents.

This is the article I was reading this morning that said:

"She changed her story for a third time after she was arrested in July 2008, claiming that she killed Alexander in self-defense", which led me to believe it was another article saying she came up with the "self-defense" story in July 2008.

Yeah her poor little ole me act is getting old. And her little girl voice makes my ears bleed.

So we do know that in no way did Travis deserve the horrifying death he got. He classified Jodi as someone he could have sex with, but he wanted to marry a virginal mormon (even though HE would not come to his marriage a virgin). Words like "slimy" or "creepy" are very subjective, one person's slimy is not necessarily someone elses. Because he was willing to have sex with Jodi without wanting to date or marry her, it is easy to see how some believe he "used" her or was "creepy". Personally, I hink that someone who wants to marry a virgin, but allows himself the kinds of sexual escapades he enjoyed with JA does not have a tremendous amount of integrity when it comes to intimate relationships.

And I do hold Travis responsible for acting on his sex urges. JA was evil, malicious, cunning, and murderous, but No one can tempt someone into sex without their consent. Travis decided to continue his sex relationship with Jodi. Unfortunately, she was not a safe person to do this with.

You said this SO MUCH BETTER than I tried to. Thank you!

Yes, that's true. She needs to keep talking for justice to prevail. It's just driving me crazy. But her mouth will lead her to the guilty conviction for sure.

Snipped and annotated by me:

excerpted letter from JA to TA

.....Well, I’m going to make it easier for you. Given our history and the fact that we’ve dated and all, if any of your friendships should take the back burner it should be the one you have to hide from others. Don’t misunderstand me (remember the spirit in which I am saying this). I value our friendship as one of the greatest treasures I’ve ever had the fortune of having, knowing and experiencing. Have I mishandled it in the past? Guilty. Both of our track records have been tarnished, but that doesn’t diminish how much we value each other and the inherent divinity that is within us.

When you are scrutinized, criticized and question about being my friend that’s one thing. It hurts both, yes, but it is easily rectified by standing strong and firm in defense of our friendship. You’ve done that plenty of times. Even perfhaps when I was underserving of such defense. But when you have to censor our friendship for fear of the criticism you will receive as a result of it, then it becomes awkwardly and embarrassingly apparent that something is not right, especially when all it is is a friendship. A friendship. We’re not secret lovers. It’s a friendship.

I am proud to call you my friend. I am brag about you to whoever will listen, to promote you, speak highly of you and give you all of the accolades you’ve ever deserved and any chance I get. I’ve never had to hide our friendship from anyone. Never. I would publish it in major newspapers nationwide and broadcast it on syndicated radio and national television.

You see. I have no shame in being your friend. And if anyone every tried to guilt me, judge me, criticized me, harrass me or otherwise give me an ounce of crap over it, I would put them in their place so fast they would never think to open their mouths on the subject again.

I’m not saying you should feel or do the same. But because I am your friend first and foremost and because I care very much about your happiness and well-being. I think you would be better off if you had one less person to worry about pleasing. I’m sure you can agree with that much. It is so simple to please me, it really is (it’s the little things that just make my entire day!) but I haven’t always made it easy for you.

So I’m going to be proactive and remove myself from the list of people you have to worry about pleasing. Still friends? Of course, silly! We’re not about to dissolve a friendship that was firmly formed almost 2 years ago (likely before that in the grander scheme of things, aka: the Pre-Existence). But here I am with the proverbial scissors cutting the proverbial strings of our friendship. We remain friends only now because of our free will to do so, not because we feel as though we are still tied to each other and have to be because of some imagined obligation or nicety.

This, I believe will make our life a lot less stressful and all around easier. If anything, it will be a weight off of your shoulders, one you’ve shouldered like a champ, believe me *)

You’ve done more for me than some friends that I’ve known nearly 20 years! I love you and I will always be here for you as your friend and confidant. Take comfort in that if it brings you any.

Faithfully Your Friend

Jodi Arias
