Jodi Arias Trial: the weekend discussion

I think Travis was a very successful young man. He seemed to be highly motivated. One of his good friends even said that all of Travis' suits were tailored and handmade with his name on the inside pocket.

My guess is that Travis had to buy more expensive suits or have them tailored due to his stature and body-building activities. Most suits made for American men are not cut for an extremely athetic physique. To fit a narrow waist and large chest/neck, etc. Italian labels are better, but are somewhat hard to find (esp. outside major metro areas) and are more expensive. So men with that type of physique who can afford it tend to get their suits tailored more than others.

I find putting his name inside a little odd. But maybe there's a reason for it that I'm not aware of.

Thank you for posting this pic of Travis alive and well! We need to see him like this.
How in the heck could anybody do to him what Jodi did?!?
How could a person just keep going at it? And then zero remorse!!!
It's horrifying!

I wish now I had not looked at the new photos of Travis deceased. Especially the close up one of his throat. :( It literally made me nauseated and I have a strong stomach and have seen autopsy photos before.

Its just unimaginable to me that a human being can be so viscious and cruel.

I would rather be shot than sliced to death with a knife.

IMO

I haven't looked, yet. Not sure I want to. I saw one of the thumb nails a few days ago and that was plenty!

Every time I see pics of him I can't help think how much he resembles a friend of mine's son. To me, they are spit and image. It creeps me out!

eta: I just went and peeped at the most non-graphic one through my half-shut eyes and my fingers and, yeah, those'll do the trick if she otherwise stood any chance.

I have seen tailors do that when they make a suit for someone.

I am glad though they are starting to make suits more form fitting than they use to do. My hubby and son have very broad shoulders and a narrow waist...including flat tummies. lol When I buy my hubby a new suit I get the form fitting ones that are now available and so does my daughter in law when she buys our son suits.

Yes I saw his name inside one of his suits. Travis' family gave this friend some of his suits and he showed it on IS because he was wearing one of them. He had someone add "In Memory of" across the top of Travis's name. I thought that was so nice and shows how much Travis affected the lives of his friends and he seem to have many friends who dearly loved him. He was a very social and outgoing person.

I wish I hadn't looked either. These are by far the most graphic I've seen so far. Makes me hope even more that she gets the DP. I will try and keep the pic BritsKate posted in my thoughts. :(

No, I did actually look at the records at the county recorder web site. It's possible I'm reading them wrong, but I don't think so. Anyone can check. All you have to do is enter his name and look for the records that start with the initial date of sale from the zillow site.

I don't know how long he was associated with PPL or how long he was at the platinum level, either. So that may be relevant to his income in the 2004 time frame. Like I said, though, he appeared to have a lot of very nice things for such a young guy. You mentioned a Prius (which I wasn't aware of) but he also had a Beamer until Jodi wrecked the engine. And I think you're right, he was probably using rent to pay the mortgage almost completely. Anyway, just some information since we're all just sitting around waiting for the trial to start back up :)

I kept seeing the Prius in the garage when photos showed the outside of the house. The other night, one of his friends on JVM said he had a BMW but then decided to get a Prius so he could travel the country and be "green." Who knows if that's true. I am curious about the BMW. He owned it outright since he had the title. Was it very old?

Since you know he refinanced, I wonder if he used the $ for his business (I have no idea if you need to put your own money into PPL in order to succeed and get to the higher levels?). Or maybe that's how he paid off the BMW and bought the Prius. Who knows.

How often are you going to trial?

Oh, I wasn't doubting that it was embroidered. I saw it to. I was just saying that since I've not ever known of anyone having the embroidery, it struck me as a little odd. I do realize that custom tailors do it, though.

I work f/t so I won't be going very often. I'm going to try to hit some of the major highlights, though. So, as I mentioned, if anyone who's following it live daily sees something of major interest coming up, post it and I'll try to go that day, or even just for an hour or two. When I happen to be down there for other reasons, though, I'll definitely stop in regardless of what's up that day.

OMG! Only a monster could do that to a human being.

She butchered this poor man. He never had a chance.

God rest his soul and may justice be done.

More new gruesome photos of what was a very handsome man in life. I pray his soul can rest. Jodi probably doesn't think Travis would mind what she did to him. After all, she spoke kindly of him and wrote that nice funeral message. (not to mention doing the laundry)

His suits too were part of his personality so to speak. He liked to dress snazzy. He also loved interior design and decorated his house himself. I was impressed! I'm so grateful to his friends and family - they have done so much to honor his memory - and share who he was with so many people who never met him.

(Personally I think sometimes there's a danger of me forgetting that our victims were real. Travis' friends and family make it impossible for me not to remember.)

Ayn Rand was one of TA's favorite authors according to his friend Katie. This one's for Travis:

"People think that a liar gains a victory over his victim. What I've learned is that a lie is an act of self-abdication, because one surrenders one's reality to the person to whom one lies, making that person one's master, condemning oneself from then on to faking the sort of reality that person's view requires to be faked. And if one gains the immediate purpose of the lie - the price one pays is the destruction of that which was intended to serve. The man who lies to the world, is the world's slave from then ."

For sure, his house was very nicely decorated. He did a good job on it. Personally, I don't care for his taste in suits, but I think he always looked very handsome in his street clothes :) He was a cutie, for sure.

Chris Hughes' theory is that Jodi murdered Travis before he could repent for having sex with her so he would go to hell. In her warped interpretation of Mormonism he thinks she believes they will be together forever in hell.

How twisted. I don't know very much about LDS but Chris is very reassuring in his post that Travis' soul is just fine thank you very much! ;) (Link to Chris' statement upthread)

Wow, reading your post raised the hair on the back of my neck. How horrible it must be to go through the level of abuse you (and BritsKate) did. I was fortunate enough that my ex husband was never physically abusive to the point of putting me in the hospital. It was more mental and emotional torture with him, although he did pour a full beer in my face once and then throw the bottle at me, resulting in a bruised cheek and swollen nose. He was more of a property destroyer (throwing TVs and stereos etc.). His main goal was to destroy my self confidence, and make me feel like I was worthless.

When I walked away from the relationship he stalked me for more than a year begging forgiveness, and asking me to give him another chance. I held firm and never looked back, and am now married to a wonderful man for the last 23 years.

I've been around women that are verbally abusive to their mate, and often wonder if there is more that goes on behind closed doors then those men are willing to talk about. I often wonder why they stay in the relationship. Some are guys who weren't terribly popular growing up, so they kind of grab onto the first one that will give them what they've dreamed of all through their adolescence.

I agree that abuse can occur no matter what the gender, and the reasons for the victim to stay in that relationship are varied.

Thank you for sharing your personal experience, and for being an advocate for the victim.

YW.

I have been here for many years and most of the posters who have been with me knows my story. Unfortunately it seems to fit way too many cases we discuss.

I am so sorry to hear that you were emotionally abused. I often think psychological abuse is much more harmful than physcial and longer lasting. If one is lucky they will heal from the physical abuse.

You did the right thing Princess. In my own situation it started with him first throwing things against the wall and then they were thrown at me and then he began to actually strike me and it esculated from there. More than likely your ex would have resorted to the same violent acts eventually so you made a wise decision to get out and go on with your life.

One of our best friends was abused by his petite wife for over 20 years. He was 6'4' and weighed over 200 pounds she may have been 5'3" and weighed about 115. He was gentle giant. We had no clue this was going on but we did notice he had horrible bruises and cuts often but he would just say it was due to him being accident prone and we bought it all those years.:( Then one day his wife threw hot scalding water on him and he had to be taken to the ER.......that is when the police became involved (like it happened in my case) and then he broke down sobbing and told them what she had been doing for 20 years. His reason for protecting her all those years was he was so afraid if he divorced her she would get custody of their two children. So I think men and women stay in violent relationships for pretty much the same reasons.

TY for the kind words. Fortunately for me there were no children involved so it was easier for me to walk away. If the same thing were to have happened with my current relationship (heaven forbid), it would be a different story. I can only imagine how it would affect our children, and my ability to make a rational decision.

I'm 45 and I often wear my hair up in pigtails, especially in the summer. I have long hair (and hot flashes) so I like having my hair up and off of my neck. I live in Louisiana and the summer heat and humidity here is unbearable!! Even right now, although it is January, it is 78 degrees outside.

I admit, it does look cute and it suits my personality quite well. I'm only 5 ft 1 and look more like a kid than a mature woman in her 40's.

But I do think some men like a girl in pigtails because it makes them look more like a young schoolgirl but i don't see anything very wrong with that in most cases.

Swampmama, Abby is so cute. Did you know she is from New Orleans?

It always seems so envasive to peer at someone who has been horribly murdered but autopsy photos show the person in the worst light and we must try to remember that.

I am glad the casket was closed so that his family and friends can remember him only as a vibrant happy young man with a winning smile. Travis was such an pleasant looking man and a cutie pie for sure. He could be anyone's son, grandson, uncle or brother. He looks like the sweet guy that lives next door to us.

And I have read that Travis was a very clean person. So I bet he kept his home very clean as well. His bedroom was very nice I thought. I wish we could have seen other parts of his home and how he had it decorated.

My mother signed up with PPL and said she was satisfied with it (I had never heard of it before).

Has she ever had to use insurance?

Travis looks like he may have been singing to his dog in that photo. LOL! Reminds me of myself when I sing to our two adorable doggies.
