I have seen people caught with a ton of CSA on their computers, they said it was sent to them, they downloaded it without looking at it. Someone else used their phone/computer. Blah blah...they went to the site, and by "accident" clicked on the wrong page, which became a rabbit hole...

The way people get nailed, is actually sharing files, sending it to someone. That is an action. That is how Jared Fogel was in trouble. But the receipt of CSA, is passive. "Yeah, I didn't know what it was...". Happens all of the time with military. Although, they usually get investigated and not charged.

Not sure what the difference is here.

Agreed. I wasn't sure about posting it. But what Josh Duggar is into is beyond "normal". It is in the realm of psychopath.

I had to do a bit more research on my own about Josh Duggar. And it is mind boggling to me that the judge let him out with bail, and even worse, can still be around his children!

Difference is instead of someone sending it to him "out of the blue" he went looking for it. A forensic search of his electronics will show his searches, that he was seeking it out, maybe even paid for it in online currency.

Point is, these FBI investigators can tell the difference in someone innocent clicking on their email - could happen to us - or downloading multiple dark web child abuse sites. One time accident?
Or an ongoing situation?

The Feds DO NOT arrest anyone without iron clad proof, unlike regular law enforcement.

This could be one reason why there is such a long gap between his computer raid and the arrest warrant on him. They got exactly what they need.

DO NOT CASUALLY RESEARCH "DD" - you can't un-see it. This isn't a "trigger warning" - it's ten times that. DD is very, very bad and please trust that the agent was correct when he said it is in the "top 5" of what the agent has seen. JMO from someone who knew about it a few years ago, forgot about it (kids/life), and never wanted to see a reference to it again.

Why Josh Duggar freaks me out

When I research this subject there is usually a disturbing theme:

Escalation!

Apparently it is not uncommon for people who view adult for years and years to get desensitized to it thus they seek out more graphic . Yes viewing can get worse, without describing it I will put it this way:

Adults engaging in intimate relations, groups of adults, bondage, torture...

So anyway, it is easy for some to escalate their viewing into these various types. The thing that I didn't know is that this adult escalation can advance past adult and go into child sexual abuse.

From there it can keep escalating, the viewer getting desensitized and going further. By further I mean what I said above, how it goes further with viewing adult can go further viewing child sexual abuse.

So when I hear Josh went from touching his sisters to watching adult to then seeking real life sex with multiple partners, to viewing child sexual abuse to viewing escalating child sexual abuse etc..

I fear if escalation and getting desensitized continues unchecked then Josh might try to touch a real child. He will think, "I won't do that again" then he does.

Then this touching a real child escalates to more and more encounters.

It can even escalate to younger children. Do you know one reason child sexual predators start seeking out young toddlers? Because they are too young to describe it.

So all this is why Josh Duggar freaks me out!

Respectfully, I am skeptical that "it is not uncommon for people who view adult for years and years to get desensitized to it thus they seek out more graphic ."

I have no links easily at hand to support this, but I think the vast majority of people who view adult have categories that they continually seek out, and never escalate to worse things, and would be horrified and sickened by CSAM rather than aroused.

That being said, I think people who want the kind of atrocities that Duggar accessed will not find what they are seeking on mainstream sites, so will dig deeper to find it, which could be termed an escalation.

But I think those people are uncommon rather than not uncommon.

No. Cancelled.
Harpo got the email at 6:30 AM, by 1:17 PM the state police had contacted Michelle.

The Duggars were already in Chicago for the taping, which was scheduled within a day of the email. Oprah's staff jumped so quickly, we've learned at 1:17 PM the same day, an Arkansas State Police officer contacted Michelle, telling her she needed to bring Josh back home immediately for an interview.

Turns out there was no conflict, because Oprah's people immediately cancelled the taping and sent the family home.
