Kaine explains the car swap

  • #121
Could Terri let someone else use the truck that day? And her phone was still in the truck pinging away...

I was told the science exhibit was brought to the school the morning of June 4 (I had thought that maybe the picture of Kyron and his friend were taken in front of their exhibits the day before. I will find that discussion and edit this post).

It makes no sense that she couldn't pick the exhibit up in the Mustang if she brought it to the school the day before and had the same people and things in her car.

ETA
And if she was picking up the exhibit (and therefore needed the car) then why the heck was her son going to take the bus. And if she changed her mind about staying, did she tell Kyron he'd be taking the bus home?

Still looking for the information about the project being brought the morning of June 4. I clearly post too much and have too many of my own posts to read through because I can't get the right key word to narrow down my search.

Took place from 8-10.

School opened at 8:00 AM for the science fair.
At 8:45, as the bell rang, children were to report to their rooms to be divided up into groups to tour the science fair.
At 10:00, they were to return to homeroom to have class.

Then the talent show was the afternoon thing, from 1:00 - 2:45.

I think it is possible that Terri said she needed the truck for the project, perhaps, but also for other things she was doing that day. I just don't think Kaine is great at listening to what she was saying about these kinds of things, at least that is my impression.

Off-topic, it also makes me wonder, if she usually drove the car, why the boy at school would associate a white truck with Terri.

From Gwenabob, a local:
No judging. Exhibits only. Not really even a science fair. IB exhibit. Different things.

Did his truck have a back seat? If anyone knows? I haven't seen a photo.

Other posters here have said that this model has a back seat.

From what I've read about the school activities that morning, it didn't sound to me as if the parents were expected to stay for the whole science fair. My recollection is that there was a set-up period in the morning, with quite a few parents there, and then all the children (at least the younger ones) were to assemble in their homerooms, get into small groups, and be chaperoned around the whole science fair by teachers, teacher's aides, and possibly some volunteer parents. If the children were all supposed to be seated in their homerooms at 9:00 and then moving around the building in their assigned groups, what were the parents supposed to be doing at that time (especially while the children were in their homerooms)? I just can't picture a school planning the day so as to have most parents who were going to look at the science fair hanging around unattended for any period of time, while the children were assembled in their classrooms.

I was under the impression that the time parents were expected to view the science fair was in the early morning, before the normal school start time. This would make sense because most of the children have at least one parent that needs to be at work during the day. There was also a talent show scheduled for early afternoon, and I wonder if there was another time slot scheduled before or after that, when parents could view science fair projects. I think the upper grades' projects were being displayed in the gym, rather than in classrooms, and that would have been the "main event" of the science fair. The little kids' projects wouldn't be of much interest to anyone but their own parents and perhaps parents of their friends and classmates. I just can't see most parents of a 1st/2nd/3rd grader caring to spend more time at the science fair than half an hour or so in the morning. There's just not much to see at that level, and they'd certainly already seen every detail of their own child's project at home.

I wasn't thinking that TH was going to stay as a parent but as a parent volunteer since she has a history of helping out in the school but maybe the baby was acting up and she decided to leave early. I think DY had made the same assumption since she seemed to think that TH was staying for the whole science fair.

Thanks for posting. Right at this exact minute, I'm starting to wonder why he is so voluntarily visible. We've had a whole lot of Kaine in the past couple of days.

If it helps, then good. But still, overall, weird.

imo

I don't know why you would consider it weird? He is probably wanting to feel close to his son and he was last seen at the school? If he wasn't out, people would suggest he had something to hide so these poor people have no clue what to do, I would think I would fall asleep on the steps of the school, hoping he would show up somehow. I know I would not be sleeping much and would be wearing holes in my tennis shoes. I would probably be called crazy if this were my son as that is what it would make me. I think Desiree and Kaine are outstanding so far. they do better than I would.

I am just wondering if Kaine was the target of this hit? as if it was KYRON all along, it would make sense to me as then it would hurt EVERYONE involved and make more of a dent for Teri? Something is just not right about all of this and I wish we could be flys on the wall at times.....

Right, so why didn't she pick him and the project up at the same time that day, normally at the end of the school day? Instead she lollygags to the bus stop. Doesn't add up.

This guy seems to be pretty unaware, overall really checked out, so it's weird that he's now all over the reader "questions." I don't get how some questions are ok to answer and some questions need to be skipped. His selection of what to answer/respond to is off. (Wonder if LE shuts him up tomorrow? Betcha Tony doesn't dig it.)

This new detail plus her saying *missing* when she went up to the school are pretty fishy. So, pardon if I am behind here, but which car did she drive up to the school around 3:30, when she asked the school secretary to call DY to tell her Kyron was *missing* (since he wasn't on the bus).

I think that single chunk of time, around 3:30 is darn interesting, for both parents.

imo

are the questions coming from readers? I hadn't read that

I also missed that TH asked the school secretary to call DY :waitasec:

I have a mustang and my husband has a big truck. Whenever I have to haul things I do usually still take my car (with my children in tow) if I figure I can smush everything in there. That's because getting the car seat transferred to another vehicle (and seated properly) is a big pain in the tail for me. Not to mention the fact that even though his truck is also an extended cab, the seats in the back are less than ideal for getting that thing hooked in the right way.

But if I know I'm going to be doing a lot of stopping, getting in and out, I'd much rather take his truck. I'm not sure what type of car seat she uses for her daughter, mine is an infant car seat. And that thing is not easy to be constantly getting in and out of a car in a long day's worth of errands, especially when driving a car that is that low to the ground. But then again, I'm eat up with arthritis and back pain (military worked me too long and hard! lol.) So even taking the extra time to get prepared to use our truck is well worth it to me if I have a long day out, much less bending over and contorting.

I'm probably the last person to make excuses for Terri Horman by the way, lol.

My son has a big truck and daughter in law has a jeep and they have two kids and carseats in each car so they dont have to switch them out all the time...

She would need the truck if she planned on buying something during the day that wouldn't fit in the mustang.

such as? :waitasec:

Oh boy, do I believe she planned this now. TH told KH that she needed the truck to pick up the project. In order to CYA, she went home and emailed the teacher (IF that is true) about it knowing FULL WELL she never planned on picking it up or that it even needed picking up that day. The teacher more than likely said, "Monday is fine" or something to that effect. THIS WAY, she could justify using the truck and not picking up the project. Both bases covered.

BUT, a logical person would see it like we do...why have Kyron ride the bus home? Simply go and pick him up and while you are there drop in the classroom and pick up the project. There really is no need to email the teacher about it.

Wow. TH is a piece of work.

Okay lets take it a little further...what if teri didnt expect Kaine home that earlyor at all?, therefor changing her plan from the school to the bus stop?

As I recall, that afternoon Terri emailed Kyron's teacher asking what time the science projects needed to be picked up. I always wondered how she happened to drive the pickup that day. Looks to me like this points to premeditation.
IMO

Did it say anywhere whether the teacher responded to the email, and what the response might have been?

  • #136
Well they did put out the flyer, asking If Terri and the truck were seen that day, seems as if it has some bearing, at least the truck does, and the truck was searched

Maybe if Terri did take Kyron somewhere she needed a 4-wheel drive to get there. (if indeed the truck is a 4-wheel drive) She wouldn't want to tear the bottom out of her little red mustang. Wonder if she took any kind of container with her that morning to supposedly bring the project home in, and if she did do that did she come home with it?

The email is a rumor.

Maybe she took the white pickup and left in another car (if someone else is involved and she actually took part in Kyron's disappearance) or led/followed the other party somewhere? A white pickup is probably more common (and easier to forget) than her car and more likely associated with Kaine or so she may have thought? Just throwing things out here since I'm baffled by the whole thing.

I don't think you'd take a science fair project to school and bring it back the same day. I've never seen that happen in a science fair. Usually the fair is for fun and the student receives a grade. The teacher would need to spend some time on this.

I agree. I've been to many science fairs with my kids. They usually bring in the project few days before so they can all be set up for viewing on a later date. It would be WAAYY to chaotic to have parents and kids trying to tape their dioramas to their desks/set up projects while others are milling around trying to look at them.
