Kathleen Savio's death #2

In Steve Carcerano's story, Mary is only mentioned very briefly. He says that DP asked him to call a locksmith and that he (Steve), Kathleen's best friend, Mary, and DP entered the home. He says that DP stayed downstairs while he and Mary went upstairs. He mentions Mary checking the bedroom and closet, while he checks the bathroom and finds Kathleen in the tub. I believe he said something to the effect that Mary screamed, but after that, nothing more is mentioned of Mary. It's all about what he saw and DP's reaction.

If Mary was Kathleen's best friend, it stands to reason that Mary probably knows a lot. It's reasonable to assume that Kathleen confided her fear of DP to Mary, and probably told her some of the terrible things DP had done. It's very likely that Mary knew how bad the relationship was between DP and Kathleen.

I wonder if Mary was ever interviewed initially, beyond what she saw that night in Kathleen's house. Did the police ever ask her about Kathleen's relationship with DP? Did the police ever ask if she ever heard any loud arguments?

Mary, along with Tom Morphey, is one of the few that haven't given a media interview. In fact, both Tom Morphey and Mary are notably absent.

My intuition is that both Tom Morphey and Mary may have intimate knowledge - Mary about Kathleen, and Tom Morphey about Stacy - that LE is withholding from the public.

--->>>Thanks everyone, for filling me in. This is mighty interesting. It would seem to the casual observer (me) that Mary could be a mighty important person to be asking questions of. Sounds like deja vu all over again, Sharon and Stacy, Mary and Kathleen.

I am wondering HOW they brought Mary into the 'lets go check on Kathleen' programme? Did they call her on a cell phone or go to her door, just wondering, course none of us probably know. Wonder IF IF the police know, prob not. Hmmm. What day of the week was this? Was it a Sunday also?

I definately think Mary's testimony would be of upmost importance regarding the position of Kathleen's body in the tub! Also, she would know if there was indeed a locksmith called, or if DP picked the lock.

She also being a woman would have noticed things like if there was a towel, clothes, or whatever at the scene.

If those things were noticed by Mary, is there any confirmation of what she saw? Know what I mean? Has she spoken to the news media?
Why do I get the feeling that Kathleen's death was simply swept under the carpet?

Good work Tom'sGirl and thanks so much for the link.

Ok, after reading your link, that is an excellent question.
Was Mary possibly told to keep quiet about what she saw when Kathleen was found dead?

I have no idea, maybe she also thought it was an accident, just dunno!

Maybe it's just me, but perhaps Mary was scared of Drew? Scared for her own life?

I think it's great that she hasn't talked publically - that doesn't mean she hasn't told the police alot. Why talk now when Drew has already possibly killed again?

I have been asking about Mary since Steve mentioned her name. I would like to know her side of things, too. She has been quiet in this investigation and I hope she will be called to testify to the GJ. Her testimony would certainly be pertinent in Kathleen's case.

As good as the media is at going after interviews, I am surprised we haven't at least learned something about her and her relationship through Kathleen's family members who are outspoken. Maybe the reporters aren't asking the right questions.

Welllll, wonder IF IF Mary was interviewed by a policeman at the time of the 'discovery' of Kathleens body?

Seems to me that all the people who entered the home 'that' day should have been included in the 'police report' as to what they saw etc.

Would any of us be afraid of DP now, IF IF we were in Mary's shoes? Does Steve still live next door to her?

IF IF she still lives next door, she may have insight on HIS comings and goings in RECENT times, say around the end of October etc.

She does need to be called for the GJ.

I would like to know the really BIG PICTURE of what the BBPD has been involved in other than this visible fiasco.

Interesting how Steve C's story about the night of Kathleen's death keeps changing. I thought Steve got Mary and her husband came over with her and he was checking the garage or something. Now we don't hear anything about Mary's husband beign there at all.

Plus Kathleen having a restraining order on Drew at that time. Even if Drew was doing a wellness check it shouldn't have been Drew..Drew should have asked another officer to handle the check. So why didn't BBPD at that time find that odd?

Has anybody sent the "Mary" question to Greta? This sounds like a job for Mark Fuhrman.

When this case first began, and Steve C told the story of how he got involved, he said something like, "I was just arriving home and DrewP approached me and said Kathleen's friend Mary had told him she was worried about Kathleen because she hadn't been able to get hold of her." He also mentioned that he was concerned because he'd been trying to bring the kids back home.

Since that time, SteveC's story has changed, to DrewP approached him and hardly mentioning Mary until the final discovery.

What doesn't ring true in this story, is that Kathleen was known to call LE when DP was late even by minutes returning the children for the scheduled visits. So if DrewP was to return the kids on Sunday, and it's now Monday evening, there is NO WAY, NO HOW, he would have let it go until Monday night. He at the least would have approached her neighbors on Sunday.

I believe with others, there's 'something (going on) about Mary.' LE must be keeping her 'under wraps.':waitasec:

Mary and her son, who was 13? at the time, came over with Steve. But I think it was only Mary and Steve who actually went into the house. Mary's son would also be a witness as well.

Mary also should have been called to testify at the Coroner's inquest and I haven't heard that she testified there. I agree that she should be testifying at the Grand Jury.

  • #296
I don't think we know nor do the press all the people who have probably been called to testify. I would think that would be anyone who LE feels can account for, back up and maybe add more detail to what another witness has said. Mary may have been called before Steve C in Kathleen's current murder investigation..I would want to see if what she said backed up what Cassandra said she knew, the pastor and maybe other neighbors who heard or saw things that weekend.

In the Scott P case they even had a burglar come forward who saw Scott moving something large and bulky at 3 AM that morning..but Scott didn't know the guy existed. The "would be burglar" was canvassing the neighborhood and felt that was a safe time as most people would be asleep ...I think Drew thought the same way about his visit to Kathleen's that weekend...maybe someone saw more then Drew knows and was afraid to come forward until now.

Who knows, maybe Mary had first hand information from Kathleen along the line of the letter that she sent where-by DP snuck in her house through the garage and held her hostage. She may have even seen bruises, etc.

That could be some powerful testimony, IF it were true. Look how many people Stacy started telling about her fear of DP.:(

And then there is Kathleen's friend that gave Steve Huff the story he wrote.
