Patton says Nibarger and his brother were on-and-off friends.

“My family had known him, he’d been riding horses with us for quite a few years,” Patton said. “He has just been recently started to come back around and Dakota was just starting to hang kind of hang out with him again.”

Dakota went missing on 4/25 and Kimberly and Clint got married on 4/27. It was a quicky wedding at Lavernes Wedding Chapel in Miami OK.

Prayers for Dakota and his family during such a tragic loss!

What raises additional concerns is that Thuston had not only represented Garduno in the past but also had prior dealings with Clint Nibarger himself.

NEOSHO COUNTY, Kan. (KOAM) - Clint Nibarger changes his plea to guilty, amending his charges in the shooting death of Dakota Patton in southeast Kansas.

Nibarger, 34, was in court Tuesday morning for the hearing.

Originally, prosecutors charged Clint and his wife, Kimberly Nibarger, with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

But as part of Clint's plea deal, he'll be sentenced for the amended charges of intentional second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. In the plea agreement, the state and Nibarger's attorney are jointly recommending 176 months for Count 1 and 117 months for Count 2. Those sentences would be served consecutively, for a total of 293 months.

He will get credit for time he's served in custody since his arrest on May 8, 2023.

A judge will formally decide sentencing on December 3, 2024.
