KS KS - Lori Heimer 57, murdered in her Saline County home, 25 Jun 2016

Not sure why we would jump the gun on this. It doesn't appear to have any similarities w/LH. Do you know more than you are saying?

No I don't, but everyone jumped the gun with JJB when he was booked on attempted murder charges. I'm just trying to prevent that from happening again. No sense in wasting time again on an another unrelated arrest. See my point?

Wow...THAT was informative. WELL POOP! But I'm still not convinced JJB should be totally dismissed as a suspect in Lori's murder. <modsnip> And all those chgs he's facing, plus NCIC hit did not crop up from $250.00 worth of unpaid parking tickets.

What was informative? Did we read the same article? I don't see any similarities or much helpful information or why it was even referenced. (The Post article)

I agree, JJB was a legitimate suspect. And I haven't totally ruled out that there is more to his (JJB)
story than anyone is saying or admitting to.

A few new things. Mr. Heimer was harvesting 4 miles away from their house?

Just who saw the trucks?! Especially since there wasn't a house within a half mile from the Heimer home.

And the KBI. Where are these agents located? Do one or two of them live locally? I hope they have a local partner to bat ideas around with and with someone familiar with the area.

What does it mean she was found among her puppies?!

It sounds like the family has had time to inventory the house for missing items. Why kill LH and not
take anything? Maybe it was someone close to her? I think at this point, and if not already, the family needs to keep open minds about ANY possible motive.

RE #877: I didn't realize he was not just across the road from the house, either, til I read the latest article. Lori had house dogs, maybe that was what the article was inferring. Lori was found in the house, not in the building where she had her kennels. I believe the article, not sure if it was the latest article, stated the men in suspicious vehicles were seen by several neighbors. I think the few things the girls thought had been taken have all been located.
What we don't know, and the family may not know either, is if Lori had money in her purse or bedroom that might have been stolen. When she did sell a puppy, she did prefer a cash transaction, so unless she had told a family member she had a considerable amt of cash on hand, its anybody's guess. I cannot imagine this horrific crime was committed by an acquaintance, but anything is possible.

Re: . . . Mr. Heimer was harvesting 4 miles away from their house?

Ronald Heimer was not “harvesting 4 miles away from their house”.
He was “harvesting crops on their 80-acre spread about four miles outside Assaria”.
IOW, their farm is located about four miles from Assaria city center.

Not the best wording in the article, but here is the paragraph:
http://www.kansascity.com/news/local/crime/article127382514.html
Lori J. Heimer had mentioned to her husband, Ronald, that she was expecting a potential customer that afternoon, June 25, 2016. After lunch, Ronald Heimer went back to harvesting crops on their 80-acre spread about four miles outside Assaria, a small town just south of Salina and about three hours from Kansas City.

Lori Heimer “didn't return to the house”? Huh? It’s a weird sentence in today’s news article:

Heimer told her husband that she was expecting a potential customer the day she was killed but didn't return to the house.

Yes, very strange.

I'm getting mixed
messages about where she was found. This says she was found among her puppies. Was she outside in the kennels?!

Thanks about the clarification re
where he was harvesting.

Because of confusing reporting, I’ve never been certain whether Lori was found dead in the main house or in one of the kennels on the property. But her daughter recently posted on the FB public group support page (January 12) - - she was murdered in our home, her blood spilled all over the floor we walk on. . . .

I think the reference to "not returning to the house was referring to her husband. He came in for lunch, but didn't return that aftn. He probably let her handle the kennel business, as he was busy working their farm most of the time.

Terry, I wasn't trying to insult you in any way! I just meant that the article about attempted murder charges didn't explain much about anything. Maybe there will be a more informative article will come about on that arrest in a few days.

This article says “She didn’t return to the house…”

On June 25, 2016, she told her husband, Ronald, that she was expecting a customer. She didn’t return to the house and her body was found that evening, The Kansas City Star reported (http://bit.ly/2iX3mVb ).

Thanks. I appreciate that. I meant no ill will either.

This disturbs me. I suspect she kept her doors unlocked?! But why were the perp (s) in the house? Was it a home invasion that had nothing to do with the kennels?

Was it someone she was expecting?
Sounds like she was expecting someone who wanted to buy a dog.

Was this a premeditated set up?
It sounds like it. But if so, it had to have been someone who knew her family's schedule and that she would be home alone.

Why is KC a point of interest? Who is going to drive that far just to break in and then kill her? Or, was this a burglary gone wrong?

And if the trucks were involved, I really can't imagine ANYONE
driving those trucks for any length of time.

I can't help but think this is somehow local.

Just my rambling musings.

I believe that since the beginning of this thread that it was stated many times Lori was found dead inside her home. That must be a misprint in the article, since SD and family state she was found in her home.

When we lived in SE Kan in a town of 2700 for 15yrs, we locked the front door out of habit, not necessity. If I lived in a place like Assaria, I probably wouldn't lock my house unless I was going to be gone for a few days.

Well I have not been in much, and find these few developments. I am struck at the fact they say nothing appeared stolen. (Not exact wording, but same difference).
I was so sure robbery was motive. And I thought hubby was working close to the house!
I don't mean to sound critical or insensitive in any way at all... How closely did they look at the husband..? I am sad to think that.
How closely did they investigate the incident as a whole??
I wonder if family is keeping in any sort of contact with LE. One would think by now they would say something but there has been too little. If I was family I would be demanding answers.
