Well that's bizarre. I wonder what that is all about. From what I understand those types of vehicles are tactical vehicles used by LE during drug raids, hostage situations, SWAT activities, etc. but I can't recall them ever needing more then one in a situation.

Same. Those vehicles can hold 10-12 officers, so I'm stumped as to why they would need more than one.

Oh geez. :/ Ergh.

I mean, usually those are used for raids and such... but I can't think of a single reason they would need to do a raid, because last I heard, family was cooperating.

Making their presence known - setting up to go search some rough terrain somewhere that a vehicle can't get through, maybe?

Oh! When you said that it made me think of those vehicles they used when they were searching the marsh land for Shannon Gilbert / The Gilgo 4. I mean, these were big open top things with runners so what Royals has seen is probably nothing like what I am imagining. :laughing:But the searching through rough terrain is what reminded me.

I think she is talking about a legit... tank. A police tank. If you Google "BearCat police" - that is what I am thinking.
Maybe they just met at the dad's house, and they are setting up a plan to go search somewhere. With the ice/snow and all of that, maybe they are just using these vehicles as a way to get places, since a normal vehicle wouldn't likely travel well through those conditions.

Oh yeah, I just googled that. That definitely sounds more like what was being described. It makes whatever they are there for appear pretty dire.

I took a look at the KAKE website (that's the Wichita news channel) and there wasn't anything there to indicate any sort of SWAT activity or warnings to stay away from a certain area. I did notice that there are a lot of school closings today and I'm guessing more snow/ice is on the way so maybe a previous poster is correct, they are using the vehicles to conduct searches in areas that may be too treacherous to do on foot.

Yeah. I am just going to pray that they are searching. That's it. I can't let my mind wander anywhere else right now. It's been a rough few days with all of this. :(

More bad weather?

Jeez....whoever knows where Lucas is, say something!

How is the weather there today? Any possibility that they are more of an all-terrain vehicle that can better handle the current conditions and search deeper into the parks etc? Is that silly? It might be. Would love a similar picture so I could see and then give a better answer.

It’s cold again today. Snow and ice not melting off. Another bad storm is coming in tonight and schools are expected to close tomorrow.

Let me find a picture.

I didn't watch this one in real time, but was Sky Metalwala's egg donor's name held back for a while? I remember another one from the last two years... I'm trying to remember details.

Many here, including myself, feel pretty certain the stepmom is the reason this kiddo disappeared, but we need to remember that there are occasionally cases where kids *are* taken by outsiders. They were searching a neighbor's shed last night...there's tactical units in the neighborhood this morning...??? Then again it may just be related to the slick roads, as others suggested.

This is very similar... just less shiny and less “this is a police vehicle!!!” If that makes sense? It wasn’t flashy. They did have sirens but they were hidden inside the windshield and not on top for everyone to see.

Also, these vehicles were all just driving around. Not set up anywhere. They were not following one another, either.

Wow. That's a pretty intimidating vehicle. That leaves me with more questions!

Very strange, IMO. I am hoping another local can chime in and say that they have seen them and what they are actually used for.

I wonder if there are any family members not "accounted for..."

Another theory - people thought he was being abused, so family took him? I wonder if stepmom had talked to someone and said, "i'm gonna go nap" or something, and the family took the opportunity to remove him from the home themselves?

Maybe hoping to wait until things die down to bring him out of hiding?
I really don't think this happens. Possibly once or twice, and it would be fantastic if it's what happened with Lucas, but I don't think it's realistic, unfortunately. :(

This is just my opinion,I might be completely on my own here but I think that the individual responsible for Lucas' disappearance, (because surely we don't believe this 5 year old boy walked away and is still out there, fending for himself) made him disappear before 2/17.

I really want to know when Dad left and when he was due to return. We don't know that yet do we?
I am beginning to think Lucas may not be found in Wichita.

Those are Bearcats. They're a tactical vehicle for SWAT. SWAT arrives at the scene in these when police cars etc aren't safe (suspect with weapons that are going to fire long range or pierce a police car, etc). Sometimes a few arrive on scene to approach from different angles. They may be headed somewhere unrelated to Lucas, as it would be strange to be using them in this instance.

I'm just really... really REALLY trying to think positive. I can't let myself honestly believe that this baby is out in these elements, alive or not. I just can't.

BearCat police! That is exactly what they looked like. Once again minus all of the police-like identifiers.
