Driving to work this morning I saw multiple police tanks (?) in the area. I don’t know if tank is the correct term, but that is what they look like. I saw 4 or 5 within a half mile of the family’s current residence.

I have NEVER seen this type of police vehicle in Wichita. Can any other locals chime in and say if they have?

Does anyone else know what these tank like vehicles are used for? If you google “police tank” it is almost identical to what I saw. The only difference is that the ones I saw are pretty discreet.. they were painted a dark matte gray with black matte lettering that said POLICE in one spot.

A discreet tank? How can a tank be discreet? Not being sarcastic!

I assume she meant that that it was a "police" tank was the part that was discreet. Only said police in one spot in letters that matched the coloring of the tank. I think it was mentioned there were also no lights on the top?

Perhaps the "generic" police labeling is due to it not belonging to one specific department?

ETA:
MRAP and other similar vehicles are sometimes "donated" to police agencies and the like from DoD, however there has to be a significant need, hence the reason I thought it may be multiple agencies sharing it (the more agencies involved, the more likely the "need" can be justified) hence the non-specific labeling.

I am kind of surprised they waited so many days to search a neighbor's shed. If a child really does wander off, you'd think things like sheds and garages and such would be searched right away.

Maybe someone borrowed something from a neighbor? Something that would be stored inside a shed :(?

And if it was, say, seven days ago, rather than last Sat., the neighbor might not have thought anything of it at first.

In the same video where the search of the shed is mentioned, the reporter alsotalks about LE going door-to-door again yesterday. Maybe the neightbor wasn’t home the first time they went door-to-door, but when they returned and talked to them, the neighbor mentioned someone asking to borrow something ...?

Also, these vehicles were all just driving around. Not set up anywhere. They were not following one another, either.

An unrelated drill?

I'm getting such a Kyron Horman feel to this. Stepmom with new baby, she's the last one to see him, he's just disappeared without a trace. Oh god, I hope this isn't another Kyron case.

Yes Blef. Kyron/Haleigh. AAARGH, these cases should even be in existence, yet here we are, repeating history!

Good thoughts and seems very likely!

It could also be that someone was home but did not have access/the key to the shed, and LE needed to return to check the shed (and possibly a few other houses) in order to completely eliminate Lucas's neighborhood.
Could also be that the homeowner requested a warrant first. Or that someone other than the home owner was at the home and would not allow access until home owner either gave permission or returned.

BBM...

Perhaps his class helped with the making of the tiles?

I don't know why there would be much in this, though...

LE are searching MULTIPLE parks...

The title mural was put up in 2011-- before Lucas was even born.

wow!

"someone" may have cell phone ping records of "researching" a number of parks!

good thought! :thumb:
If there is one thing I have learned from this site, it is if I ever kill someone and dispose of a body, leave my cell phone home! Not that I ever plan on it.

“The BearCat G3 claims the vast majority of armored personnel carrier sales to SWAT teams in the United States. Fashioned from a Ford F-550 commercial truck chassis, Massachusetts-based Lenco builds about 200 such vehicles in year, in grades from "VIP SUV" to combat-ready with gun turrets. The massive roller is actually a smaller version of the BEAR, or Ballistic Engineered Armored Response vehicle, which Lenco builds for armies and law enforcement agencies around the world.

Anytime there's a public shooting or standoff in an urban area, chances are a BearCat will be on the scene. It has option controls for battering rams, winches and even surviving a chemical weapons attack. With military-grade armor and the ability to take repeated hits from bullets up to .50 caliber, it's most frequently used as a rolling shield....

The other reason for its popularity? Thanks to the U.S. government, most police departments now get their BearCats free.

In the wake of Sept. 11, Congress and Presidents Bush and Obama dramatically boosted Homeland Security spending; the Department of Homeland Security now hands out more than $3 billion a year in grants to boost anti-terrorism tools around the country. The Lenco BearCat — which starts at about $190,000 and can top $300,000 with options — can easily qualify as a necessary tool under several different grant programs, from disaster response to crime fighting.”

I tell people that after being on this site, there are several ways to hide your body

perhaps a person shared the info of someone going to a park...

Yet the "someone" NEVER mentioned it to LE?

Ommittance?

Just a thought...

Unless said hypothetical person was unprepared for the question, I would think if they had just got back from somewhere and someone said "Hi, where have you been out to?" that if they'd been to the park for nefarious reasons they would say they'd been for a drive, just around. And if something nefarious had happened elsewhere, then they'd say they'd been to the park.

The first two parks LE concentrated on were north of Lucas' home, so I thought maybe a traffic cam had caught a suspicious car going north. But then the search went off in the other direction. I don't see that phone pings would be particularly useful if we don't have a rough time for them, unless someone took a drive at 2am early Saturday morning? But they'd need a warrant to get phone records.

I am considering that Wichita doesn't look far from the border with OK and that might be an area to consider.

I thought the same thing. I know they had Kansas tags. I have a picture that I took personally ... not sure if I’m allowed to post it?

Just a thought please delete if need be. What about the possibly of a family member of the bio mom, dad or SM knowing the abuse is happening and knowing that

dcf isn't doing anything. So this person (maybe even a family friend) couldn't take knowing he was being abused and took him not realizing she would call the

cops so fast and they are panicking. Or maybe they stopped by to confront the SM about abuse, got there and saw that he had very recently been abused

freaked out and took him.

I'm reaching at theories because i want this sweet angel to be alive.
:please:

Happy birthday Lisa!!! :up:Thank you! Haha we all have experience years, right? ;)

My young niece once said, "My mommy is 29 years old and so is Grandma."

We're all 29 years old in this family. (Though I personally prefer 39.)

I don’t know if this has been discussed (probably and I missed it). Does the park have a gate with a camera? My local wildlife park in Houston you pay to get in and then you get “checked out” of the park. There is a gate on the way out, with a camera and after a moment or two they will open the gate to let you out. I’m assuming it’s so they know at the end of the day who should be left in the camping areas and who should be out. I don’t think there is a gate on the way in. I’ve been there a half dozen times, you would think I would know. Now there are other ways in from personal properties surrounding the park but for the people who abide the rules, there is only one way in and out. Not sure how long they keep the records but if it’s there it may be why they are searching there. Other parks I’ve been to you pay your day fee in an envelope and write your license plate down. Now that I think about that was a park in KS a few years ago.
