“The BearCat G3 claims the vast majority of armored personnel carrier sales to SWAT teams in the United States. Fashioned from a Ford F-550 commercial truck chassis, Massachusetts-based Lenco builds about 200 such vehicles in year, in grades from "VIP SUV" to combat-ready with gun turrets. The massive roller is actually a smaller version of the BEAR, or Ballistic Engineered Armored Response vehicle, which Lenco builds for armies and law enforcement agencies around the world.

Anytime there's a public shooting or standoff in an urban area, chances are a BearCat will be on the scene. It has option controls for battering rams, winches and even surviving a chemical weapons attack. With military-grade armor and the ability to take repeated hits from bullets up to .50 caliber, it's most frequently used as a rolling shield....

The other reason for its popularity? Thanks to the U.S. government, most police departments now get their BearCats free.

In the wake of Sept. 11, Congress and Presidents Bush and Obama dramatically boosted Homeland Security spending; the Department of Homeland Security now hands out more than $3 billion a year in grants to boost anti-terrorism tools around the country. The Lenco BearCat — which starts at about $190,000 and can top $300,000 with options — can easily qualify as a necessary tool under several different grant programs, from disaster response to crime fighting.”

Hmmm...I am vehicle shopping since I totaled my jeep.

Sorry if this has already been discussed, but I found Dad's statement that, "This is a serious thing and we want him home..." to be really unsettling.

This is a serious thing?! You think?? Maybe I'm just jaded, but that seems like something you might say if you were trying to figure out what your take on a situation SHOULD be because in your heart you know that is not what the situation is. Does that make sense?

Hi all, been following from the beginning and joining in now.
A couple things I’m curious about:
-Since this new move, were either one or both of the gf’s boys ever over for a visit?. I think it was mentioned they are 7 and 9 in age, Didn’t a neighbour say she noticed a child with gf doing garden work?)
- About the gardening, isn’t it an odd time of year there to be working in a garden? Especially if you just moved in?

I’ve already started clearing winter debris and prepping the soil in my veggie garden beds, planning to plant peas, lettuces and broccoli this week. I’m not much of a flower gardener though.

Regarding the gardening....it was a beautiful day on Saturday. Had I not been lazy I would have been out putzing around...pulling dead weeds...plants etc. Just to spend some time outside. So...I don't find that odd.

exactly...

and....

heard of the saying...

"REALLY GOOD friends erase your computer before the coroner arrives! " :giggle:
...and take your sd card from your camera. Yes I was asked by a friend to do both if she passed in surgery.

Sadly, Thinking...child services is probably scrambling this week finding the reporting info on Lucas.

I am off to read the drama on the fb groups. Yes, I know no posting the crazy here and also a reminder to new members that have joined for Lucas.
I swear I can only read so much.
I am so thankful for Websleuths and the members here!

Haven't read to the bottom yet so this may have been mentioned...
but thinking some kind of foliage found under the car?
ETA Prob. nothing blooming up there yet?

Good thinking....seen that before in cases!

I know they canceled the press conference yesterday, do they plan on having one today? Maybe they won't have one until they have information to share..

Now that's Bad a$$! I want to ride!

Maybe it's to let someone know that the things are about to get REAL!

FIND LUCAS!
Oops, I lied one more post. Is this photo local? I think I see Los Angeles on the side?
ETA I fogot to include the photo. sigh. The cool one posted upwards today.

Somebody asked earlier why a name would be withheld. In my experience the most common reason is to protect a minor(s).

Hi all! Long time lurker, first time poster here :lurk:

The fact that they have spent this much time at the park leads me to believe that they received very specific information, and I don't have a good feeling about it at all.

IMO LE are light years ahead of us, information-wise, and I wish that we had a better idea of what was going on. :notgood:

Agreed....100%.

I’m so confused about this! I was thinking why they wouldn’t publish it, the only reasons I could come up with were if she was a minor, or if she was in witness protection? So far fetched I know. But honestly why don’t we “know” who SM is???

I wouldn't call it "unsettling" more like curious. It almost sounds like he's addressing someone directly, telling them "this is serious, time to stop playing games, return my boy..."

I dunno. Maybe not her but somebody who could be reached through her? But if that is the reason, I'm not going to speculate. I assume LE has their reasons and I don't want to sabotage that.

Could be. This...is a perfect example of what I was talking about yesterday in regards to body language, tone of voice, facial expressions, etc. being so helpful when statements are released on camera rather than in writing.

http://ksn.com/2018/02/20/police-plan-more-searches-in-case-of-missing-5-year-old-boy/ I've noticed in this article that LE is still asking the public to report if they saw someone running without shoes on. Would they continue to ask the public for this info. if they didn't think that Lucas got out of the house on his own? I would think this would make it alot harder to sort through tips if LE doesn't expect this to be the case. Also, I'm wondering if maybe they found evidence of someone searching parks on their cell phone or computer in recent days. All IMO.
