I wonder if there are any family members not "accounted for..."

Another theory - people thought he was being abused, so family took him? I wonder if stepmom had talked to someone and said, "i'm gonna go nap" or something, and the family took the opportunity to remove him from the home themselves?

Maybe hoping to wait until things die down to bring him out of hiding?

In the only interview (I think) we’ve seen, Bio mom says Lucas is terrified of water. Dad says he likes to fish. Sounds like they’re each setting up different reasons for him to be found in water, IMO.

BBM That's kinda my point. They had K9's over the weekend then moved on from the house and haven't been back since whereas in the Woods case they focused on the house. In Mariah's case while LE didn't reveal anything about the warrants media became aware of them pretty quickly and were blasting it all over the news the same day they were filed. I agree, LE is holding this one close. As morbid as it sounds, I'm kinda keeping Mariah as a point of reference, she was found one week shy of when she disappeared, I hope that holds true for our little Lucas, we get him back at the latest by Friday.
My conclusion is there are no indications that something happened to the baby in that house.....very different from sweet baby Maria.
They might have already filled in these gaps in the timeline:
Who saw Lucas last and when?
When did Dad leave?
When was he supposed to come back?

I've seen this thing about the water a couple of times on the thread. I don't think it really has any implication for his disappearance. He could be afraid of the water but still enjoy fishing with his daddy since the presence of his dad would grant him a sense of safety and security, knowing daddy won't let anything happen to him. Also, being in a boat, floating on the water is a lot different to a 5 yo then being neck high in water. Also, I have to question the mother's characterization of the boy since she apparently wasn't very involved in his life, how would she know what he was afraid of or if he was afraid at one time that the fear hadn't been since overcome. Remember, she lost custody of Lucas when he was still an actual baby.

I know every investigation is different but I'm getting a feeling that those closest to Lucas is NOT responsible for his disappearance. Here's my reasoning. Lets take a look at the last child who was last seen in their bed, Mariah Woods. At first LE treated it as a possible abduction but within a couple of days it became clear that she wasn't kidnapped. While LE never said anything official their actions spoke volumnes, particularly their search warrants for the home Mariah disappeared from, they seemed to be focusing a lot of energy on the house. Within a couple of days of the search warrant they had arrested the boyfriend for concealment of a body and they had Mariah within 24 hours.

Now lets look at Lucas. It's been 4 days since he was reported missing. LE has given no indication there was something fishy going on in the house, there have been no search warrants at either the current or previous home, there haven't been any so called "midnight interrogations" of step-mom or dad. There hasn't even been any legitimate evidence to indicate possible abuse save for the accusations on social media and some family members.

Oh...and something to say about RSO's in the area. I know some folks like to automatically go to RSO's in an area but keep in mind, every one knows who they are, they aren't quite as likely to reoffend since people are aware of their presence and LE keeps a tight leash on them. It's not the RSO's I concern myself with, it's the sex offenders we don't know about that concern me. They can operate with impunity and under the radar because no one knows about them.

All of this is just my opinion, I have nothing but past experience as a source of reference.
Could be. The only thing that worries me is they were searching diligently around the pond areas. The tip was obviously from a source they felt could be believed. But then, maybe that was a goose chase intended by the tipster.

There doesn't have to be anything unique to any park that they found on shoes or whatever. They were led to their search by a tip from the tip line. I quoted and linked in a previous post earlier this evening.
I agree. MY SPECULATION ONLY:

Someone overheard/saw/read/gossip something, called in a tip, LE questioned SM, SM acted hinky about it, LE felt it prudent to check out further.

Now...while checking that tip out, they may have found/learned something that led them to the specific parks, which could provide or correlate with the vegetation or other natural evidence discussed above.

I'm still behind this morning so sorry if no longer relevant.

I interpret their search to be "parks" rather than just "ponds". To search 3 parks in 3 days has some significance....IMO.

BBM. Good points. I guess I really meant they’re each setting up different explanations IF he is found in water. I haven’t been posting because it’s too hard to keep up on a fast thread such as this.

Maybe the parks is where they have been known to go to and thought maybe he wandered there as a familiar area for him

Driving to work this morning I saw multiple police tanks (?) in the area. I don’t know if tank is the correct term, but that is what they look like. I saw 4 or 5 within a half mile of the family’s current residence.

I have NEVER seen this type of police vehicle in Wichita. Can any other locals chime in and say if they have?

Does anyone else know what these tank like vehicles are used for? If you google “police tank” it is almost identical to what I saw. The only difference is that the ones I saw are pretty discreet.. they were painted a dark matte gray with black matte lettering that said POLICE in one spot.

Sounds like a tactical team? Like SWAT?

ETA: Oh, sorry, just saw your post leyash :)

I think the tank is called a BearCat, no?

  • #694
All I can think of is SWAT....
Either they are REALLY wanting their presence to be known, or there is some other reason they are there, and I can't think of how it would lead to anything good for Lucas. :(

We have SWAT vans that I have seen regularly. They actually say SWAT. This was different... a lot larger— bulkier than a small school bus.

Could they serve as portable command posts?

Well that's bizarre. I wonder what that is all about. From what I understand those types of vehicles are tactical vehicles used by LE during drug raids, hostage situations, SWAT activities, etc. but I can't recall them ever needing more then one in a situation.

Oh geez. :/ Ergh.

I mean, usually those are used for raids and such... but I can't think of a single reason they would need to do a raid, because last I heard, family was cooperating.

Making their presence known - setting up to go search some rough terrain somewhere that a vehicle can't get through, maybe?

How is the weather there today? Any possibility that they are more of an all-terrain vehicle that can better handle the current conditions and search deeper into the parks etc? Is that silly? It might be. Would love a similar picture so I could see and then give a better answer.
