She is one of the rare ones then, god bless your whole family. I’m so very sorry for your loss, this has to be bringing up some really sad memories :-(

Speaking from experience here, I have attempted suicide by overdose twice. Using OTC drugs when I was 19, and with prescribed (to me) drugs when I was 38. I decided it's not a very successful route to take unless you take certain combinations, mix with alcohol, yada yada. Last August, I had a plan to "do it right" this time on my 48th birthday. The only method I considered was using a gun. God was watching over me, and a few days before I was to put my plan into action, a trip to the doctor for a medical reason led to a doctor suddenly out of the blue asking, "Have you been having thoughts of harming yourself lately?" (It was a new doctor, who knew nothing of my history). I broke down then, and told her I actually had a plan. That particular doctor's office had counselors there as well and she asked if she could send one in to talk to me. A therapist came in and we talked for a bit, and I consented to him calling my psychiatrist right then and promised to call him myself as soon as I got home. I did. There was a med change and it wasn't long before I was feeling better and I was able to keep the suicidal thoughts at bay.

Anyway, that may be why more and more people are using guns. It's a more, no pun intended, "sure-fire" way to get the job done. I've been greatly saddened this week by all the suicides and can't help think of the families and what my own family would have gone through.

Sorry for the O/T.

Statistics must have changed since my EMS day’s. That’s tragic. I was asking some old coworkers who have been doing this for 20yrs and only 2 have had suicide by fire arm in women and it was a total of 5 for them. This is in Texas also so you’d think it would have been higher when I worked on the ambulance due to the ease of obtaining. How sad that it’s become more prevalent. Most of the suicides we saw in women were overdose or hanging. Occasionally we had slit wrists etc. I’ve been to the scene on many males who used a gun and my heart broke with what I saw and the family unfortunately saw as well. It’s not pretty and it’s traumatic even for a seasoned medic to come in on :-(
I closed the webpage oit, but poisoning/drugs, hanging, and firearms were the 3 highest for women, and fairly even between the 3. But for men, firearms was 56%...so almost twice as often as women. So it does make sense that it would seem so much lower in women.

I am too but I am really disappointed that LE was not able to charge her and get her behind bars sooner to protect her from herself or others. I understand they needed to be thorough but it could have saved her life. And now there are two investigations outstanding. Uggggg.

I agree, it’s disappointing. Especially when considering the circumstances and knowing she was under some sort of “watch” when she was in jail the first time. I’m sad for her kids and family.

I am so grateful you didn’t follow through! We are blessed to have you as a fellow WSer! And yes I imagine that is rising because of prior attempts not being successful.
I feel so deeply for EG kids, praying they are given lots and lots of therapy in this. Man...

Im saddened too. This case has had way too much tragedy.

LH deceased
Homeless person deceased
EG deceased

I am praying that nobody else related to this case gets hurt or killed. It needs to end. :(

I believe any time there is an apparent suicide there has to be an investigation to be certain.

I am certain the LE investigated this death, and looked closely at the possibility it was a murder. She was their prime suspect and they know there are several people who would want to do her harm because of the child's death, while under her so called 'care.'

If there was indications of a struggle , and evidence that the bullet trajectory couldn't fir with self infliction by rifle, then they wouldn't have called it a suicide. IMO

I have a love-hate relationship with NG. :) I enjoy watching her shows because she tends to have good guests on that I want to hear what they have to say about the case.

After today's events I am getting terrible flashbacks to the Melinda Duckett-NG fiasco.

How many times did she mess up Lucas and Jonathan's names she was confusing and those nut jobs didn't do nothing but maybe draw some other weirdos to their way of thinking but I doubt it.

The autopsy/ME will determine suicide or homicide.

LE hasn't called a suicide yet. They're saying it was reported as one.

I think it's worth noting for those that are not familiar with these two people that I am 99% certain they are NOT friends of EG.

As in, real life, we knew and supported her before we saw her name in the paper type of friends.

They are hangers on. I would be genuinely surprised to learn that they ever met her, or had heard of her prior to Lucas being reported missing.

100% agree. Notice that they never said "Emily told me...". It was all stuff that they came up with based on info that's already out there. And they have sooooo much of their "inside info" completely wrong.

I don't believe they've ever met nor spoken to Emily even once in their entire lives. They literally waited until Emily was dead to go to msm and claim they're "dear friends".

In my opinion, based on logic and common sense, they're liars looking for their 15 minutes of shame... I mean fame.
