Found Safe KY - Charlee Campbell, 2, *autistic* & Pitbull Terrier Named Penny, Bullitt County, 7 Jun 2018

Are both dogs pitbulls?
I'm worried for this lil girl. I'm also saddened that my cynical mind wanders.
That is what's being reported.

No picture of the dog?? That seems like it would be a good thing for the police to post, in case people see her wandering.

I'm not sure of any of this. Kids with autism can be houdini like escape artists. And sadly, they are drawn to water, often. Even when people say he didn't have a fascination with water, that is where they end up found, many times.

I don't know. Poor baby.

Are these the maternal or paternal grandparents? Did Charlee’s mom or dad live in this house as well, or stay there occasionally?

Did the mom or dad possibly have an acquaintance who had seen Charlee at the house before? I don’t like to think bad thoughts but my mind keeps thinking of possibilities.

I just keep thinking of Riley Fox

Thank you! - We are “grandparents “ with custody of our 2 year old grandson (he will be 3 next month) people never assume we are his grandparents always his parents.

I wonder if this is grandparents with custody of this child. It’s becoming sadly all to common these days. I’m hearing that’s the case but I’m looking for confirmation from the correct source. For now I’ll say imo that’s possible. I also have to give Grandma a pass on sleeping till 10. If In fact this child is autistic. My now preteen is n/v autistic. She regressed quickly within weeks of turning 3 and she like many kids with autism didn’t sleep regularly at all. She would nap 15 , 20 Mins every 4 or 5 DAYS. This went on for 18 months until we found a dr who actually helped her. She isn’t able still to sleep her brain can’t not shut down. She has to be medicated still to this day! So if this child is like most autistic children then it’s possible the child napped and Grandma was so exhausted she slept while she had the chance. This was time in life was pure HELL , there’s no functioning no normal when you never sleep.

My child also Eloped we had bolts and chains but she still got out. Caught her later using a broom handle to undo those locks. It took ONE time for that to happen though and we put more locks up alarms didn’t work for us. Then I also as extra precaution when she did start sleeping at night it wasn’t always all night. So I started sleeping with her and put locks on the inside of her room to lock us both in. In case I didn’t feel her leave the bed I knew the locks would detain her if not stop her.
In this case though I can see where a mistake was made. If gpa left while gma was asleep , there wasn’t anyone to lock chain locks or latches from the inside and they obviously didn’t use the key bolt locks or she couldn’t of escaped. It’s very possible this is the first time she’s eloped. I won’t judge on the sleeping late if autism is a factor. I know 2 year olds don’t sleep that late typical, but we still use a crib and a sleep sack for our 2 year old. He’s not autistic but the trama from my daughter escaping made me unable to sleep at night once we got him. Worrying he would do the same. So at least I can sleep knowing he’s contained in the crib. Along with the million locks I still need him safe in his bed.

But autism child missing I instantly fear bodies of water. I also worry that she was in clothing not suitable for the outside weather. But I. Don’t know how the temps are there. Then suspending searches for the night have me in total tears though

My stepson is almost 8 and autistic - he has stopped sleeping much at all in the past year or so. It is very draining and exhausting. I wish my SO had custody of him, because he needs to be seen by a doctor but his mother doesn't listen. I'm just glad that the worst he does is draw on/cut up (until I stashed all of the scissors) every piece of paper he can find when I doze off.

I am really scared for this little girl. The terrain is heavily forested and rugged. What kind of animals live in the area? Then it is not for certain that the pit bull is with her.

If she has signs of autism then more than likely she may not respond to her name and ignore human voices. Evaluating Responsiveness - Special Learning Article

I am going to have a hard time sleeping tonight worrying about her out there in the dark.

Hopefully, the dog is with her and she should respond to voices.

That is extremely scary for anyone to be lost in, let alone a toddler who is likely on the spectrum. I hope those infrared cameras find her fast!

There's some info about the parents under the comments on this reporter's video.

The thought of her alone, but for her dog, in the dark woods is really heartbreaking. D,;

Bullitt County Sheriff's Office has an updated Missing Poster with pics of the correct pittie hoped to be with Charlee. (The grandparent's grey male pit's picture had been added to some posters, but Penney is more black and white!)

BCSO will also update info regarding the search.

Oh, I do hope that dog is with her.

I'm going to assume parents are out of the picture or they would have been mentioned. They usually say "we've checked with parents and they don't have her."

So they've either checked with them or they have airtight alibis, like incarceration, hospitalization or death. Or, they can't find them so have to assume they don't have her.

Google Maps

House is in 600 block of Winding Hollow Rd. ...I just put a pin in at 640 and there is only one house in the area. Very rural, as people have said.

Zooming in on the map to 200 ft. and 100 ft. there are two small ponds close by. Anyone know what the large circular structures are? cisterns? pools?

I sure hope I haven't posted this in the wrong place....I'm just getting used to the new website. Sorry, if I did, and I hope someone can put it where it's supposed to be posted, if not here.[/QUOTE

It should be fine where it is. All the information we can get at this point is important.

I'm gonna go and sit on my hands for this one. I'm hoping this is not Joe Clyde 2.0.

If it is the ones your are talking about, they look like little fish stocking ponds or something, they both measure about a 60' radius.
