They probably can't say any more without his parents' permission, due to his age and disability.

I hope the offender is sent to prison for a literal life-term and that the victim is able to receive any and all help he may need.
I think law enforcement must have been working endlessly to find him, and I hope they feel appreciated.

This article has more information. This is the second horrendous act lately from a homeless person. Scary.

Missing Kentucky Teen Found in Texas With Homeless Sex Offender
SBM
  • ...an officer on an unrelated call spotted Martin in the middle of a sex act with the teen
  • ...met the victim on social media and traveled to Kentucky, where he picked the boy up and brought him back to Texas.
  • ...knew his age and sought nude photos from him anyway

There should really be a program that broadcasts free wifi at these homeless camps but also monitors the traffic.

Something about a "homeless" man prowling the internet then also having the means to, presumably on short notice, travel from Texas to Kentucky and back again to snatch a kid just doesn't seem right to me.

KB is lucky to be alive. I am so happy for his family - they got him back, alive. This could have easily become an UID remains found in TX case and lord only knows how long, if ever, it may have taken for him to be ID'd.

I hope they lock Martin up and lose the key but that isn't likely. I'm sure he will be walking the streets again in no time.

Considering he only has to post $5000, a real possibility.

Austin judge sets $50K bond for child sex predator after previous judge recommended $1 million
"It’s just unconscionable that a judge that took an oath to keep the community safe, to protect children, would do something that would take a known career criminal and violent predator and put him back out in the street," Austin Police Department Senior Officer Justin Berry told Fox News. "It’s just appalling."

Appalling isn’t a strong enough word. That’s all I can say without getting myself in trouble.

It's set at $50k but he only needs 10% assurity - usually. Bail bondsmen might not be willing to take the risk on this case.

It is unconscionable that a judge would set a $50,000 bond for someone who is "listed as a lifetime high-risk sexual offender." If his past history is any indication, it probably won't be long before he is back out on the street preying on children.

Hopefully more charges will be coming while he is still in custody. Since Martin traveled from TX to KY and took KB to TX, he should be subject to Federal charges. He abducted a child (in this case a special needs child) and took him across state lines for the purpose of SA. He should also be charged for luring a child on the internet.

You have to wonder why a judge would do this. Why didn't he followed the previous judge's recommendation? If this suspect gets out and there are further victims, it's this judge's fault. My opinions only.

Culturally speaking, if you can't figure it out, Austin motto is "Keep Austin Weird".
