I've done quite a bit of research on Dawn's case as part of a series I'm doing on formerly-long-term-unidentified unresolved murder cases. From what I can tell, she was raised in Racine, Wisconsin (near the border with Illinois) and had several siblings. She seems to have been married at least twice, engaged once and had a son from her first marriage who was an adult at the time of her death. Not much else out there, though. I was amazed by how many times the local newspapers managed to misspell 'Plonsky'.
In October 2001, the decomposed remains of a woman were found along Interstate 65 in Simpson County.
KSP partnered with the DNA Doe Project to identify the woman, and in 2021, her name was announced as Dawn Clare Plonsky Wilkerson. She was 45 at the time of her death and had been living in Nashville.
