For some reason she needed to go to Canada. No insurance?

I have seen medical costs on a chart on the net somewhere. We are super high in cost and something like 33 in quality of health care. I doubt if there is any residency requirement if you are paying. The residency would be if you were trying to get free health care.

Just because you want to move to another country does not mean you can. Other countries have rules as well about who can move there and how long they can stay

And Kyron's mother, Desiree, has provided more details. There have been reports in the Portland press that Desiree and Terri were old friends, but Desiree insists that couldn't be further from the truth. She says she only learned of Terri in 2002, when Desiree, while eight months pregnant with Kyron, says she found out that Kaine had started a relationship with Terri.

DESIREE YOUNG: Unfortunately, Kaine was not faithful to me and met another woman.

KATE SNOW: That was Terri?

DESIREE YOUNG: Mm-hmm.

KATE SNOW: So all of the sudden you know that there's another woman. You're eight months pregnant.

DESIREE YOUNG: Yeah.

KATE SNOW: Must have been a low point in your life.

DESIREE YOUNG: Yeah. It was pretty hard to handle. I cried solid for two months and didn't leave the bedroom because I didn't understand why she somehow equated to something that was better than me and my son.

Kaine, however, insists that he and Desiree had broken up before he stated seeing Terri, agreeing to live separate lives under the same roof just until their baby came along. In any event, Kaine and Desiree eventually divorced. At first Desiree moved into a new place near Kaine's home in Portland. Little Kyron lived with her for the first two years of his life. But Desiree was sick with severe kidney problems.

DESIREE YOUNG: I had gotten to the point where I was in the hospital usually three or four times throughout the year.

KATE SNOW: Your kidneys were failing?

DESIREE YOUNG: Yeah. I was so sick that I was passing out at times.

Desiree says she went to Canada for treatment and gave Kaine temporary custody of Kyron. When she got back, still recovering and drowning in medical bills, they decided together that Kyron would be best off staying with his dad. She admits that, despite the anguish Terri had caused her in he past, she now thought Kaine and Terri could give Kyron a good life.

I saw a little guy (aged about 5) who I would have sworn was Kyron had it not been for the fact that the little man was only 5ish, and in England. He was the absolute double of Kyron, glasses, the same shape face, same eyes. I immediately thought of Kyron.

This case has really affected me. I don't have sons, only daughters, but I think of Kyron every day, and wish for closure for DY and KH.

I kept reading all the "Related" articles and most of them were pretty new (including other pieces from today) with information I don't remember hearing, like Terri's lawyer wanting to interview one of the prosecutor's investigators. Very, very interesting stuff at your link. Thanks, again.

Wow, the years have not been especially good to her. If I were unemployed and had zero responsibility for more than 2 years, I think I would spend a good amount of time on the treadmill and eating salads. Especially considering all eyes are on her for these proceedings. Instead, it looks like she has spent the last few years watching tv and eating donuts. Why neglect herself like that when she has nothing else to do? And it's not like she doesn't know how to get in shape. She is an ex-body builder for cripe's sake!

Terri Horman's lawyer says Kaine should have to pay for psych evaluation (prior to custody/visitation) since he asked for it.

So.. she complains that the custody of the baby was unfairly decided because they didn't do an in-person psych evaluation of her, and then says she won't participate in the in-person psych evaluation, and then says Kaine should pay for the psych evaluation that she won't participate in. Okay then.

JMO but if there was a chance that I'd have to hand over a lump of money to an ex I'd be a little miffed if the ex didn't have to supply any income information.

ITA!! I don't understand how TH can simply say 'nope' to a request for financials during divorce proceedings.

Has anyone here read how the judge ruled on KH's request for contacts who might have "knowledge that Terri Horman was not the last person to see Kyron Horman" before he disappeared? I see the rulings for other aspects of KH's motions, but haven't seen a report where this is specifically addressed.

JMO, this is a divorce hearing? What has her proof or lack of having evidence re:Ky have anything to do with this?
