Kyron's parents' statements, interviews

I too think LE may have had to advise them about the chances of Kyron being found alive. LE has never said that Kyron is being 'held' somewhere. If they had any evidence of this, they would want to get the word out as to witness sightings, a composite sketch...something.

LE is taking their time and building this case brick by brick. And that tells me that LE is fairly convinced that Kyron is deceased, and they've felt this way from the time they first called this investigation a "criminal case" back around week #2. They are working on building a case where they can arrest and convict someone or more than 1 person for the death of Kyron (IMHO).

I'm thinking that either the grim reality has set in and they have been told to lay low or
they are doing something very behind the scenes.

Can anyone tell me why news crews aren't camped outside the homes of people like Terri's parents, or even Kaine. Not that I wish it on them, but look at how the press dogged the Anthony's. I actually went by the A's home and I will never forget the hum of the news vans, what it was like to walk over all the various cords and how the press bee-lined it towards the car of some social worker that was visiting C & G. I get the feeling that either Portland is a much smaller market (even tho Kyron is national news) or they are a heck of alot more civilized.

I have a couple pics of the outside of the A's set up as an album.

I think the Anthoney family inadvertently targeted themselves by rushing headlong into denial mode and trying to pin blame on anyone but KC. Their non-stop media presence also landed them into the spotlight, whereas these families have been a great deal more circumspect.

I dont think there making themselves look bad in the slightest.

In my opinion the only ones whose making themselves look bad is Terri and Dede.

The parents are doing what they can to find there child as unfortunately Terri and Dede dont seem too obliging in that matter.

JMO

No, no, I don't think they're making themselves look bad -- but they have certainly thrown TH under the bus many times. And in light of recent LE statements - WITH GOOD REASON.

TH was up to something on the 4th, and she isn't coming clean. If I were in their shoes, I'd run her over with a bus. MOO

In any case, I think they're letting LE do their job, and trying to take care of baby K and hopefully getting some much needed rest.

My heart really goes out to them.

I'm not a psychic, so I don't read minds. Maybe they just feel it's time to step back and say nothing. Whether they looked bad or not... they are still in pain over their child missing.
I hope that they get the resolution they want soon, and that Kyron will come home alive and well. NO parent should ever have to go through this.
I just saw the news clip that the remains of the little 2 yr.old boy in Arizona were found, 2 miles from the camp site where he was last seen. I am so saddened by this! His little life had barely just begun. The parents must be devastated.

I will say, that I keep playing in my head this awesome fantasy that they have found Kyron alive and have been reunited with him and have been spending time with him in a secret location. And today, at the press conference, they will be there, with Kyron in arms.

Yeah, I'm aware there is about a 0.000001% chance of this happening. But it's nice to dream, isn't it?

I kind of have thoughts of him being somewhere SAFE and his step mother got mad because her husband wanted her son out of the house and just hid Kyron for spite but that she didnt hurt him. That is IF she did anything, Im not quite sure she had anything to do with him missing. Its all so sad:(
It seems like she kind of raised him so its hard to believe she wasnt attached to him.

We haven't heard anything from KH or DY in a while now. In the wake of the Grand Jury testimony (that some believe ends today), and the significant info that has come out in MSM over the last couple of days...what's your take on their silence?

ETA: Be gentle, this is only the second thread I've ever started (and my first one was deleted cuz I hadn't quite learned the ropes yet).

My guess is a combination of factors:

A) Things are moving along, the police are following leads that look productive, nothing is stagnating right now.

B) Conservation of energy. Doing all those interviews and press conferences is emotionally draining. Why do them when things are moving along well right now (see A).

C) Necessity of moving towards a new normal. Bills have to be paid and while it sounds like the various employers are being supportive, that will not last forever. DY has an older son who needs his mom to be there for him, not just a mom who is constantly focused on Kyron. Baby K, likewise needs a parent who is there for her, who can establish a feeling of security and emotional safety.

D) I rate this as unlikely but possible: cat and mouse with TMH. For a few weeks, the new press conferences, interviews and articles kept coming out, tiny little revelations kept dripping out, etc. My guess would be that TMH was getting punch-drunk, as it were. Now is the time to pause, be quiet, let TMH's own imagination work on her.

Remember the original movie Jaws? Back then, special effects were not so special but that movie hit plenty of people's buttons because the audience rarely actually saw the shark. There would be a victim, then a period of quiet that you just knew, just KNEW couldn't last. And by the time the shark struck again, your imagination had already done a number on your nerves.

I feel that they are being silent because maybe they feel all that can be done by them has been done. Maybe on the advice of LE also? Sadly life has to go on, even in the midst of a tragedy.
I must say, my heart goes out big time to them both, especially to Desiree. I don't know how she could even get up there on national television, and keep her composure as she has. I keep her in my heart and Prayers daily, from one mothers heart to another. I'm sure this has been horrendous for them both.

But it breaks with the tone they established early on that they did not release a statement telling the public what to expect. Remember how they set such firm rules initially? Certain days they would take certain questions, etc. And on weeks when they had to deviate from that, they gave a statement explaining that fact. Then they just kind of dropped the pattern, without any comment. In any other case, not talking to the media for awhile might make you wonder, but in this case it stands out because of the way they had been handling and communicating with news outlets prior to this.

Threatening a civil lawsuit against DS was justified, IMO. The heinousness of a missing or murdered child warrants the threat of a civil suit, particularly if you consider that it is very likely that LE told them that DS was not being forthcoming with LE. Sure, the threat of a civil suit creates a hot mess, but sometimes a hot mess is what is needed to put pressure on people to tell what they know. It very well could be that LE suggested to them to threathen DS with a civil suit. We may not know until much further down the road, if ever.

In Dede's blogs, she was very concerned about money, so I think that would freak her out.

Nicole Simpson's family won a lawsuit even though OJ went free , looking for Nicole's killer on every golf course.

I don't think Desiree is making herself look bad at all with her statements. The last thing I remember her saying is that someone can be sitting next to you and you still don't know them. Very chilling. There seems to be no reason to say anything right now while there are new clues and LE's "new lens" way of looking at things.

This case hit me as strange from day one....The first plea we got about Kyron came from LE.. We didn't hear from the family (all 4 of them) until almost a week and a half after he was missing.. Then came the "Team Players".. and decided which press was welcomed and which was not.. Send in your question ahead of time and we will answer them accordingly.. Scheduled press conferences...
I don't know... It seemed odd to me...

I think they had a lot of initial energy, fueled by the hope that Kyron could come back quickly. Now that it's apparent it will be a long time before they see him again (if at all), I'm sure that depression has set in. I know it would for me if it were my son.

I feel bad for them or anyone else who has a child missing :(

It was one of the biggest fears I had when my son was younger.

With all the interviews KH & DY did for the media they weren't under oath and they said a lot. A lot of things about TH, such as "she's a liar" and yet when asked in the audio by the reporter, they couldn't come up with anything.

I think that now that they have been questioned by the GJ, under oath, they do not want to come out and say anything different from what they actually told the GJ and also that might not quite be what they were telling the media in the first place, like possible exaggerations. So why not just hush up.

Totally agree.

Then they start getting very aggressive and "loose" with their comments. Then they testify and the GJ and we hear nothing more from them.

IMO, it is odd.

Awwwww, adh...wouldn't that be just the best thing ever! Serious goosebumps here, girlfriend.

My feeling about why TH and DY are quiet now is that they've done all they possibly could to try to put pressure on people they and LE believe are involved and flush out evidence to find Kyron or find out what happened to him.

Also, I believe the prosecutor may have spoken to them and suggested that it would be most helpful for them at this point not to say anything else during the grand jury proceedings. Bless their hearts...I just hope there's some resolution for them soon. It has to be almost more than a parent can bear. :(

every day i come home from work and race to the computer to check and see if they found him yet or if there is any new information. as frustrating as it is for us, it has to be thousands of times worse for kh and dy and their families. everybody who loves Kyron is being tortured right now and it breaks my heart.

That poor woman.

I think she's right. I believe Terri feels there is nothing she can do now to "save face". She would have to admit to whatever it is she knows.

But the public would be a lot more sympathetic to a woman who did something wrong and regrets it, than to a cold hearted child abductor (or worse) who lies again and again to cover up their culpability.

No new information, no. But I did think that they were even more harsh than in the past. Which I was a bit surprised by. I guess I keep expecting them to become more and more defeated. I don't think I remember hearing them tell her she would go to jail before.

I might just be grasping...but those are some pretty harsh, confident words. I also wonder if Desiree really believes Terri WILL do the right thing?

Kyron Horman's mother, Desiree Young, had a harsh message today for his stepmother, saying Terri Moulton Horman risks going to jail if she doesn't tell investigators everything she knows.

"Terri, I feel you are at a crossroads in your life," Young said at a news conference in Beaverton. "Police will not stop until they find Kyron. You will go to jail and whoever has been helping you will either have to talk or they will go to jail."

"I believe you will make the right choice to bring Kyron home,"
she said.

When asked to speculate on why Terri Horman would have been involved in Kyron's disappearance, Young said Horman is angry. "Obviously, she's angry," Young said. "Whatever she's angry about, I don't know what that is for sure."

Kaine said he also believed Terri had conspired with someone to kidnap Kyron, saying he believes the boy is alive and being held captive. The two declined to speculate on why Terri would do such a thing. Desiree told reporters that Terri was "angry" but would not say about what.

Kyron's eighth birthday is Sept. 9. Kaine and Desiree would not speculate on whether Terri will be arrested before then.
