I found it. He looks like a normal kid who is probably socially anxious and awkward. Looks like dad might be an ex - marine. It will be interesting to see how this kid responds in the next few weeks. His mugshot does not look remorseful. But if he is, expressing remorse would go far for him. He should pay for a long time though! Remorse or not.

That is what I felt too when reading about granny. I think a far different picture is going to emerge.

At 25, for grandma to be pointing out that he worked full time ( if he was 18 maybe) gave me the sense a troubled young man is on the horizon here.

Anyone know how or where in that area to pull his criminal history??

The phrasing and focus on has "no felony history" is not how it is typically parsed - while being true possibly (or juvenile stuff blocked ) does not imo equate to no criminal history.

It just "feels" different here.

Does anyone know if the parade went on as normal for the rest of the night?

I am assuming it is big enough for many people not to even know it happened until they woke up and saw it on the news -- or did the tragedy result in a lot of people just going home -- too bummed??

The parade began at 4pm. It had not officially ended before the crash occurred around 6:40pm. The news report is that the crash occurred during a stop in the parade. Each stop is pre-planned by organizers.

My grateful family attended the parade but were 8 blocks away from the location of the incident. Hence, my family saw the entire parade. When the floats complete their route eventually the floats are stored in warehouses off Tchoupitoulas Street so it takes a while to get all of that coordinated given the size of the crowds.

These are expensive parades. CARIIS mentioned this particular parade had a $7mm budget. The participants on the floats pay for that. My dd has been on a list for one particular float for years even though she said she may be 60yo before a spot opens. By example, she rode on a float this year and spent about $1200 on her costume, throws and other supplies.

Mayor Landrieu tweeted last night at 9:03 that City Services were cleaning the debris.

One thing I've often enjoyed is driving down St Charles Avenue after Mardi Gras has ended. Power trucks go by with tools to remove beads from power lines. There are seemingly millions of strands of brightly colored beads left hanging from the old oak trees as far as the eye can see.

The link may already be on here but I read this morning that one of the witnesses said he looked like he was highly pi**ed off.

So did he do this out of anger? Frustration that he didn't have anyone to go to the parade with? Just some of the things I have thought about and nothing more than speculation on my part.

I am kind of getting that same vibe, Mary. In his mugshot he sure doesn't seem to be remorseful whatsoever. Not even an ounce of remorse did I see in his photo. How someone can be this cold and callous I will never understand. He had to know a lot of little children were attending the parade.

I read that the only thing that stopped him from continuing his carnage was his truck was stopped when he hit another larger heavy duty truck.

He was beyond drunk. I'm surprised he could walk and talk, much less drive. No wonder he looks so dead in the eyes in his photo - he's probably still plastered.
