I think a boat might have been used to enter into the body of Lake Borgne, but still close enough to shore that the water pushed the remains more westward than south into the open GOM.If it were me trying to conceal such a crime (God forbid!) I would go as far out as I could to ensure she was never found. She was found so soon after the crime that I don't think a boat was involved. Just my opinion, though.
Anyone familiar with the water along the Mississippi Sound knows that objects wash ashore. Think of the oil plumes and dead animals that lined the shore from LA to FL after the BP catastrophe. Considering the distinctive tattoos and piercings, dismemberment did little to disguise Jaren's identity, so I don't think that was the purpose. It's occurred to me that the remains were meant to be found and identified as a warning to others. OTOH, maybe the perp is just dumb.
