This is Jaren's (pronounced J(air) en) adopted mother. First, thanks to everyone for your comments and points of view. Yes, Jaren did have a hard life, but dealt with it with dignity and strength. She came into my life when she was 16 and lists me as her mother, and I'm very proud of that REGARDLESS of her lifestyle. She has a mother, a father, a brother and a little girl and a boyfriend who loved her very much. Her boyfriend IS NOT considered a suspect in her death. Also my children considered her their sister and that will never change. This is a public forum and I understand completely that everyone is entitled to their opinion. But some of the things I have been reading for the past few days is just plain ****. No one on this forum knows anything about the what NOPD Homicide Division nor the Hancock Cty Sheriff's Office is doing to bring this murderer to justice. And yes, she was a stripper and yes Hillary was one of her friends who was found dead two months ago and yes they did work at the same club. Remember, it's an ongoing investigation and there's a lot that her family knows but the news reports don't. I can't change anyone's opinion but I can ask that you be more respectful of the things you say about her. Someone else may stumble across this website and she the hurtful things that I saw. Remember, she does have a daughter that one day will be able to google her mother and surely don't want to answer that child's questions as to why people could say those things about her mother! All I'm asking for is respect for my beautiful angel, Jaren
I respectfully disagree. No one HAS to be a stripper or a prostitute (I'm not saying that Jaren was, just speaking hypothetically). My sister was both. She gave up a good paying secure job and CHOSE to be. Do people have to work to eat and have a roof overhead? Absolutely. Is stripping and selling your body the only option? NO WAY. McDonald's and Walmart are always hiring and if someone for whatever reason can't get hired at those places then there is assistance. No one HAS to live that way.
eta..quoting gone wrong lol
.....
1. Walmart and McDonalds don't pay well.
2. Women and men may choose to be dancers or whatever. They shouldn't be judged by you or anyone else. It's really none of your business.
3. Whether a woman is a dancer or like Mickey Shunick riding her bike at 2 am, she doesn't deserve this nor is she asking for it.
The only person responsible for this heinous crime is the pathetic monster who did it. End of discussion.
Without judging anyone, it is still hard to fathom that her employment is in not some way related to her murder. Possible, of course, but it seems unlikely. JMO
Its easy to make that assumption and most will. Under this type of thinking, we then have to say that what a rape victim was wearing, is responsible for her being raped Or a battered wife must have done something do deserve it and thats just disturbing.
Jaren wasnt the problem the sick ticket that murdered her and then desecrated her body is.
Mcdonalds requires a high school diploma, many of these dancers dont have one.
If she was on the system for financial aid these same judgemental posters would be judging her for that.
Like I said before, this poor girl never had a chance
(respectfully snipped)
And there but for the grace of God go I .

:clap::clap::clap::clap: Thank you so much resqx.
Just and FYI the McDonalds here were hiring and they had 200 application for 2 jobs. I learned a long time ago not to judge others because I'm not in their shoes!
What I said has nothing to do with her choices...it has to do with the types of people who frequent those places as customers, that is what I was referring to as far as having to do with her workplace. Nothing about the victim.
First Mickey, and now Jaren. Get out of my head, nola!I've been reading through Jaren's thread and feeling so sad. Another beautiful young Louisiana girl taken away. During the past month WS has had too many new threads started because of the evil that some people choose to do. My heart is broken for these LA families (Jaren's, Mickey's, Bridgette's and Nicole's) and I pray for resolution and peace for them all.
In Jaren's case, I keep getting a feeling that her death was somehow related to money...I wonder if she had an unpaid debt, or maybe could robbery been a motive? She would have had cash on her after work Tuesday night, right?.
I lean towards debt because of the violent, yet personal nature of her murder. This perp wasn't afraid to get his hands dirty. And he/she was able to get close to Jaren to commit the crime suggesting a personal relationship. She knew her killer?
The way she was brutalized afterwards, in my opinion, suggests that maybe a message was being made. Kinda like, "if you owe me money, you better pay, or this is what may happen" sort of thing. Of course, he wouldn't have been certain that she would have ever been discovered. But the TALK around NOLA of this crime surely would have been all the warning any other person would need to pay up and on time. Does anybody else think that this is possible?
I pray that this person is found and taken off the streets SOON!

ITA. Based on statistics and historical data, it's perfectly reasonable to assume the crime was in some way related to Jaren's employment and people she met there. What I said has nothing to do with her choices...it has to do with the types of people who frequent those places as customers, that is what I was referring to as far as having to do with her workplace. Nothing about the victim.

Just kidding, but I see we agree again. I think the perp had to know the remains would eventually wash ashore and be ID'd, so I do believe that was intentional and meant as a warning to others who might cross him/her. I have other theories, but I lean toward this one right now.
