TS and MAS were arrested at 10 pm. The search on the Kenner house began the next day, I don't recall what time, but they were gone 5 hours later (one of our WS sisters drove by the house and assured us it was cleared out).
That was me. I wasn't quite sure when the search started but it was over by 6 or 7 pm. I first drove by there because it is only 4 blocks from my grams house in Kenner (where I spend every other month as her caregiver). There was a lot of activity then with many different specialties of LE such as cadaver dogs, a screen to sift things if needed, etc. There were also many news agencies there with their vans.
( I spotted a plumbers van among them and thought at first that there was plumber on site pulling drain traps, etc and I also saw a large camper which I thought could have been a mobile LE crime scene unit (like we use when we are on a search/rescue/recovery mission with the fire dept.) but both of those assumptions were false. Those vehicles have been a part of the neighborhood for years.)
A few hours later after I was returning from my errands, I drove by there again and the area was all clear with no sign of LE or reporters, even the crime scene tape was gone. I saw no evidence that there was any kind of lock down on the house such as crime scene tape or a sign on the door, or an officer parked there watching the house (although there could have been an unmarked unit). I would have thought that they would have secured the house and posted an official LE "no trespassing" sign.
They did remove many brown paper bags containing potential evidence although I have no idea what was remover. At one point they had a small flag in the backyard indicating a point of interest (maybe from a hit from the dog) but it seems that whatever that was, it seems to have been eliminated or removed. Had it been something of great interest, I would assume it would have triggered a larger and more intense search other area as there is quite large open field behind her house.
Her house in very close to the New Orleans International Airport (just a few blocks away) and because of that, there are many vacant lots. The noise from the huge planes was almost unbearable there and many houses were bought out by the airport because of the noise and the fact that property values declined as the airport grew busier and noisier.
The house had belonged to her grandmother who raised 11 or 12 kids after her husband died in his mid 40's. Grandmother's obituary said that she had been a resident of Kenner for 30 years and she died early in 2005, well before Katrina. Depending on the varying reports, MAS had lived there anywhere from a few months to a year or two. The house is currently owned by a a few or her uncles (and perhaps her father as well).
Ok, I guess I have rambled enough in that. I just don't see it as the crime scene because they are searching in Mississippi. They have closed and are/were dredging two beaches in Mississippi (for "improvements) but they are where Jaren was found so that may very well be a cover story as they search the area for any evidence on the beach and in the water.
I just went over all of this just to refresh memories and maybe to spark other ideas on what happened.
I enjoy reading everyone else's thoughts and theories on this case because we have so many amazing minds and such a diverse population here, No matter what the topic is, there are WS members who have experienced it or have valuable input, research or theories to offer. It's like a million piece puzzle that everyone is working to put together. Thanks again to everyone. I am sure that your support thru all of this means a lot to those who love Jaren.
