St. Tammany Parish authorities will hold a news conference at noon today to discuss the death of a woman whose body was found alongside Interstate 12 south of Covington on Sunday. Sheriff Jack Strain and Coroner Dr. Peter Galvan will hold the conference at the sheriff's complex on Brown's Switch Road near Slidell. Officials have not yet released the identity of the female discovered in the vicinity of Interstate 12 and Louisiana 21, but Connie Schilling said Monday that she received notification that it was her daughter, 31-year-old Nicole Veade Jefferson of Mandeville, who was a Transportation Security Administration officer at Louis Armstrong International Airport.

I posted it earlier dog.gone.cute, but I'm glad you re-posted.

Knox, I can't imagine that anyone would interpret your post as judgmental. It sounds like the voice of compassion to me. That link I posted about the other woman who died in Covington today, Bridgette Harveston? Looks like it will turn out to be another DV situation. The father of her two-month old infant is being questioned as a POI.

Thank you Bessie.

I looked up the Bridgette last night on facebook, she was a beautiful young woman. The Father of her baby is also on facebook. His profile picture is of him holding that beautiful little baby who is now without his Mommy. Will this insane sadness ever end?

Jefferson was arrested several times for domestic violence, but not in LA it was in Texas.

Evidence is being processed.

Nicole has a sister, Nicole's Mother is involved with those children's life too (what does that mean)?

Coroner states they are still working on COD. Tissue was liquified, so it is going to be difficult.

I was not able to transpose a lot of this, but they answered many questions.

Talking about Bridgette's case now.

I thin I came in while they were discussing a search for Jefferson. They were looking for him on horseback, helicopter and on foot. It was my impression that they came across Nicole's body in the process of that.

There was animal activity. The torso was intact, but there was destruction to her body.

It's always problematic for the SO to handle DV calls. Praising the SO for his work in DV calls and cases.

Calvin Jefferson is responsible? Sheriff says no doubt they will get a conviction against him. Hopes that he mans up and admits his actions to give closure to his children and Nicole's family.

Had the inve4stigators not found Nicole, this case could have went on as a missing person's case. He was arrested three times for DV against Nicole.

Encourages all women to seek help in DV situations.

Murder could have occurred at the home or on that property. Collecting evidence still.

Was Nicole trying to get Calvin out of the home that night? We now know that his version of the events that occurred are much different than the evidence is pointing too. They have talked to him several times.

He is a coward and that is why he is running. He will pay for this crime, we will get him!

Calvin called and said Nicole was missing Monday morning. Deputies went into the home and looked for signs of foul play. There were none. Then Tuesday we received a call from Nicole's Mom. We still did not have a reason to believe Calvin had killed Nicole.

Early Wednesday, we put things together. The things Calvin was telling us, witness statements from neighbors, what he was telling us wasn't making sense. When we looked at all the things in totality we realized we needed to start looking for a body.

Lost my livestream-

Link still not up, darn it!

This was a LONG PC, I was impressed with TCSO and the Coroner's office. They answered many questions and WILL seek justice for Nicole and her children.

So it sounds like LE talked to Calvin several times. What still isn't clear is how they knew where her body was and where to look? Hopefully a news story later will clear that up.

Also it sounds like the children were in the home the whole time. I think the coroner is saying Calvin killed her in the area her body was found in.

Thanks for posting all of this info! I wonder if HE has a car and was maybe giving her a ride to work and things went bad on the trip there?

COVINGTON, La. – An arrest warrant for second-degree murder has been issued for the ex-husband of a Mandeville mother of four whose body was found alongside I-12 Sunday.

Calvin Jefferson is believed to be in the Lake Charles area, according to Sheriff Jack Strain, who says St. Tammany Parish deputies are in the area.

“We are tightening the noose around his neck every hour of the day,” said Strain.

Here's the latest from WWL TV :

Video and Article :

Dr. Peter Galvan, the St. Tammany Coroner, said the cause of Nicole Jefferson’s death still has not been determined, but it has been ruled a homicide.

Strain said Nicole Jefferson’s disappearance was initially reported to deputies by Calvin Jefferson, who told them that his wife had not reported to her job as a TSA agent at the Armstrong airport, and that she had not returned home.

Strain said those initial reports did not raise a cause for concern as deputies believed it was a dispute between the couple. Strain said Nicole Jefferson’s mother called them the next day and the case intensified.

He said Calvin Jefferson’s travels were examined and his story began to break down.

“Then we believed we did have a murder,” said Strain.

Strain added that deputies believe Calvin Jefferson’s car was used to dump Nicole Jefferson’s body.

I think we are getting answers to the great questions you posed above, Nola.

:waitasec:

I am puzzled by the "Second Degree Murder" charge ... why not "First Degree" ?

I guess we will have to wait to hear from the St. Tammny D.A.'s office ...

Looks like a WINNER to me!!

I'm so glad Nicole finally decided to put her foot down and put an end to the violent situation she was in. Just so incredibly sad that it had to end like this. If I was trying to end a violent relationship, I would definitely bring in backup and this is exactly why!! I just wish Nicole had another chance & it hurts to think of all that she went through in the last minutes of her life.

I hope they catch this monster... SOON!
