Question for those that know about apple product backups:

-if one backs up their device on say Jan 2, 2017, and the device is 'named' joeblow at that time, will that backup always show 'joeblow'? ie if you subsequently change the device name to janedoe, would an older backup still show joeblow?

I guess however, that there were no backups between the time when they first got the backup (July 2012) and the backup done in January 2013?

So chalk one up for Dungey's client. Thank you DM, all of your questioning seems to have worked for your co-accused, but not yourself!

Are those the basement stairs of a ritzy home???

The steps and the floor could be polished concrete, which looks more high- end in reality, and not in a picture -- not to say he isn't a messy slob, but his Mother may have been responsible for this part of the decor. It was an expensive, well decorated home when she looked after it, as I have read. It would be easy to clean, but I think without extensive scrubbing with bleach and other cleaners, it would probably show blood stains with luminol. IMO

Here is how you view metadata in Photoshop (in my case, Photoshop Elements, but it's the same under both programs anyway). DM should be familiar with this because it is a standard part of Photoshop and hass been for a couple decades?

Here you see an new blank image and you can see that the software used to create it was Photoshop Elements. If I used a device it would say the name of the device.

Here is an example of the device data for an old camera and the settings it used

That camera doesn't have GPS but here is what the GPS tab would look like - it would be filled with info if the image were taken with a device that had GPS capability (turned on)

Well there's also this. I had an old photo that I just did an edit to. This is the finder view on my computer.

Doesn't alter the fact that those stairs were designed for a hay mow.
Not even code.

Regardless of when the iPad became "Mark's", there is still the text from July 4 at 9:55pm where Smich is asking for Millard's password for his Apple ID. The iPad was connected to Millard's Apple ID. IMO Millard gave Smich the iPad shortly after Babcock was killed, and he helped him get it set up.

In addition to the "ashy stone" lyrics, there are also lyrics from the Bosma trial:

"My 380 iz no stranger. When I'm angered you're in danger."

The time stamp on those lyrics was July 7, 2012.

The question seems to be, can the initial back-up on July 4 be overwritten with a new file name matching the renamed device?
If so, it could suggest MS was not around when the device was connected on July 4. But isn't there a video with MS and MM taken that day in Maplegate?

I believe the older backup would continue to show the old name. When you do a recovery, you have to choose the backup date you want to use. And while I know there were a few back ups on DM's IPhones, from my understanding there was only one on the IPad. So basically, it was connected to DM's computer on July 4th and it was backed up at that time, probably with the old name. Then the next back up done in Jan 2013 had it renamed to Mark's IPad. Now we've been led to believe that this name change happened after it was connected in July 2012 but today we find out that they don't actually know if the name was changed at that time.

However it is noteworthy that all of the data on it from that time onward seems to be MS related. Right from the start. So Dungey suggesting that an email from 2013 claiming that DM gave it MS is not going to fly as to when he actually got it and started using it.

Those houses were built in the late 60's. early 70's I'm thinking. I went to Silverthorne CI which is quite close to Maple Gate from 75-80 and this was an established neighbourhood. Those stairs were probably very posh back "in the day" and probably no code existed at that time.

I'm trying to find that tweet.....I read it as DM asking MS for his iTunes password (although the pace was quite fast yesterday and I absolutely may have misread it)...still searching.....MOO

ETA - found the tweet....but it's NOT clear! Can really be interpreted either way....

More messages between #Smich and #Millard 9:55pm July 4. "I need your password. Apple i.d." "That's hooked up to credit card info." "I'll explain later."

I said last night that I could not see a man in his 70's thinking it would be a good idea to navigate those stairs so I bet it had been a while since WM had been in the basement of his home before his death.

DM's cross was all smoke and mirrors. That's all he's got. Once again they have been caught red handed.

The testimony yesterday was graphic and compelling. The Jury will see through DM's "theatrical dance".

I have faith.

The backup name is based on the name of your device. Change the device name and the backup name will change. The don't get replaced though, so you will always have old backups with the old name, and newer ones with the new name.

I think the important point for Dungey here is that the iPad was Dell’s to give in the minds of everybody. Similar testimony appeared in the TB trial. That does say something. What confers that specific authority? It’s an interesting question.

People are cutting up his lawyering skills but I think he's not doing anything worse than Dungey or his previous lawyer. Millard is just a terrible client. I don't think Johnny Cochrane would have been able to do anything with this shmuck.
