When they say grommets were found in the incinerator, that means from the tarp that Laura s body was wrapped in correct? Those grommets were not cleaned out. between the murders. Tim was not wrapped in a tarp but a sheet.

I think it's a perfectly normal strategy in a trial to try to introduce doubt in the minds of the jury about someone's testimony, it happens all the time. Experts are frequently wrong when it comes to evidence that's subjectively interpreted, for eg, there's been some scandals about bad science in interpreting how fires were started, that have been used to convict probably innocent people.

On the other hand, DNA evidence is convincing, not because of the qualifications of the witness presenting the evidence, but because of the scientific reliability of a DNA match, and the overwhelmingly convincing statistics about it's uniqueness in each individual.

Yes it's normal however I believe any doubt would be erased when Dr. Rogers nicely pointed out that humans walk upright and animals do not so we have distinct bones. It's a little different IMO then talking about a fire.

was wondering if there was a source link for the bones in the eliminator? can't seem to find it anywhere now. When it first came out i zoomed in like 800% and down in the bottom right of the photo you could actually see what looked like the tarp grommets.

edit:
found one, ty.

DM would counter with something like, rivets and grommets look like deer dropping.

So the grommets were found in the incinerator and these were not brought up during the Bosma trial? I remember grommets were found at the burn sites. I guess these must be from Laura's incineration then.

ask DM in his expert opinion if the blue tarp looks shaped like a deer. I would be so mad sitting on the jury this morning. Waste of time.

Matou, IIRC, A witness at the TB trial who was picking up his wife who was cleaning at a site near the hanger testified he observed DM and MS carrying objects in a "green" tarp and putting them in the trailer. It was assumed the objects were the seats. I believe they burnt the seats and the green tarp in the field. So yes, these must be from the first use. They may have escaped much of the heat sitting at the bottom. moo

I can't seem to edit the image so that I can put it under 'spoiler' so that it is partially hidden. The photo is disturbing and is posted with all due respect to LB and her loved ones.

I do remember Dr. Rogers mentioning that the incinerator had been previously used and cleaned before. That testimony was stopped and argued out. I guess they missed the grommets when they were cleaning out of Laura's remains.

Unless they did a lot of cutting they couldn't get the seats in the incinerator I'd imagine? I assumed it was just from burning anything they used. Now I'm wondering if they just didn't clean everything out.. Jmo

Most tarp grommets are made of brass. The melting temperature of brass is 1652 to 1724 Fahrenheit. I would expect some deformation after being exposed to hours of 1300.

Here's a photo of it.

Penner says the lid of the device weighs about 200 pounds.

Penner says the lid is about 18 by 24 inches. The weight of the entire unit is about 4,000 pounds.

The Crown is now asking him if he wants to refresh his memory with testimony from another proceeding.

BBM

At 200 lbs that is one heavy lid. I can't see one person opening that up themselves especially since they would have to be on a ladder or maybe even right up on top. DM had to have help.

This also takes me back to the TB trial wherein MS tried to make us believe that he didn't help DM put TB in the incinerator because of a bad shoulder.

DM had to have had help.

It could be some mechanical help in the design to help open the lid.

Like the same design as the trunk of some cars. Jmo

Why is Smich getting his passport papers ready on July 4th? Running heroin across the border? Not that he wouldn't look sketchy at the border or anything.
