Furthermore, if your child is showing symptoms of being troubled, you get them the help they need. You don’t abandon and neglect them. With proper intervention maybe he wouldn’t be the psychopath he is today.

It’s sad all around. From every angle. With every family affected.

One can only wonder what Millards life may have turned out like if he'd put his efforts in to something like becoming an attorney. He seems to enjoy it and is doing a decent job of it for somebody with no experience. I bet he thinks about that every night.

So...DM saw RB in July (?) 2012 about Pedo having parasites.
I also noted in MS's TB trial testimony that I was re-reading this morning that he said DM would abuse Pedo for peeing and pooping on his bed (which the judge quickly struck from the record).

What do you think the chances are that Pedo was having accidents on DMs bed due to perhaps poor health and that was the reason for the mattress replacement?

Just something to consider...

If that was the case I'm sure Millard would have suggested that in his cross. Jmo

Not sure I get you on the trail riding. As soon as you walk on a twig and it snapped you would be lucky to see a deer. It would hear it and hi tail it out of there, much more on and ATV.
It would make mores sense if he had ATVs and used the farm for trail riding, but I don't believe anything says he did that. So ya, when would he be at the farm and so annoyed?

I also wonder about the areas farmers were renting. No one would hunt through the crops.

So did Ted Bundy. MOO

How can the mistrial happen due to a witness?

I think I have read that the DM dad was cremated as there was no more possibility to do investigations. Did it appear anywhere that was done "legally" and not in the eliminator?

If a witness testifies to something that is inadmissible and the judge determines that it I so prejudicial to the accused that it could not be remedied by instructions to the jury to disregard it, the judge would have to declare a mistrial.

IMHO it wouldn't be the nicest thing to keep in my brain cells. It's almost a type of abuse DM is inflicting on everyone- and for many, they may end up having to testify at the WM trial as well. DM doesn't have anything else better to do with his time these days then attend court- these other people have lives they'd like to live. Thinking of it, DM is probably more productive sitting in a jail cell than he ever was running free. MOO

I'm sure it is not lost on Millard that this is likely the last time he will ever see some of these people. His questions seem pointless at times but I think he is just enjoying reminiscing about the "good times" one last time.

DM would just love someone to mention TB in some way!

Deer season doesn't open until the fall- bow hunting may be a bit earlier. Not sure where all of those "deers" were coming from.

Interesting empathy - yet instead DM was leading others with less self confidence down a path of destruction where he was in charge or had control over a great deal of their well being. Unable to understand the vitriol towards MM compared to DM.

I'm actually surprised that he's allowed to go off track as much as he seems to be going. Maybe he has one last "grand" master plan.

I've been thinking about this for a while now and I do not think we will see MS take the stand this time around. I think he's sitting pretty good right now. So far the testimony has really centered on DM with the exception of the rap and his admission to a bunch of drug addicts in his garage. DM is muddying the waters and keeping the attention on himself. Stupid boy.

I have no doubt that MS was there and helped dispose of LB's body. I'm still not sure how he was involved in the murder. Hopefully more evidence is presented to push me over the fence.

MOO

Yep, SS, MM, AM, CN were all cut from the same cloth and if they didn't suspect (know) something, they were either blind or stupid.
I'm finding I agree with you more and more this trial lol

The judge is giving DM all the leeway that he can and a lot more than he would give any defence lawyer so that DM cannot successfully argue that he had an unfair trial.

In effect, the judge is giving DM all the rope that he needs to hang himself, in the fairest way possible.

You might be interested in the work of Dr. Adrian Raine in this regard. While the brain organization of one born with the neurological signature of a psychopath doesn`t change, how the individual is raised can indeed determine how the psychopathy expresses itself. The person will still be likely very self-involved and have difficulty with empathy, but does not need to become a menace to society (in fact, most psychopaths are not criminals) and can learn to have near-normal interpersonal relationships.

Work is being done on early identification and intervention with very young children in hopes of preventing psychopathy as they grow older - the brain is very plastic in the early years, and the hope is that the right type of intervention can strengthen the other areas that determine compassion, internalization of rules of behaviour, etc..

One thing I thought potentially relevant was DM’s history as a very young pilot. A certain suppression of an instinctive and developmentally appropriate fear would be required. Normal for parents to want to give their kids opportunity and success, but in hindsight not a good development point for a person who may already have inclined to the suppressed fear response typical of psychopaths. Also may have fed the thrill seeking. Where to go for that sort of thing when you’ve already flown aircraft solo on the first day you are 14?

Court's very quiet. Have they gone home and forgotten to tell us?

After some legal arguments, the jury is back.

Justice Michael Code tells them:

"It looks like Crown may close its case next week. And we may give you Monday off."

As I said before, I feel sorry for everyone involved in this. Millards reign of terror is over and he's going to spend his life regretting what he's done. MM on the other hand hasn't even received a slap on the wrist. She found out that her BF was responsible for one of the most heinous murders this area has ever seen and her response was "I'm gonna marry this guy". There is a difference reflecting on a 🤬🤬🤬 that is locked away for life and a 🤬🤬🤬 that is out here among us.

Crown Jill Cameron calls Det. Gavin Jansz into the witness box.
Justice Code says Det. Jansz is considered an expert witness. He's trained in interpreting "street language."

What? I thought there would be more MS evidence... So far I don't see enough for a M1 conviction. MOO
