Holy cow, again, I leave for a bit and there are like 3 pages about clickers, lol.

snapping fingers...OK so we have a stranger who came through the window snapping his fingers, getting the phones FIRST, then turning on the lights, take Lisa, and still snapping his fingers as he leaves.

Would the popping of the tops of a beer can sound like a click to a child?

OMG years and years ago when I was married to a heavy drinker, every single time he popped open a beer --Id cringe. That's a good guess grandmaj.

I don't know, but this clicking would have to be pretty loud for the kids to hear it...especially if they were sleeping. Unless the boy who heard it heard it through the baby monitor. And one of the boys was in her bedroom that night. That's where Db says the baby monitor was.

Man, I need to see a layout of this house!!

Cutting cocaine on a mirror or a glass table makes a clicking sound.

I really need to get some sleep, but I think the most likely candidates are camera and stapler/staple gun. (ETA: And loud enough for someone else to hear)

Hang in there, WSers! Catch up with you all later.

I am still in shock that not one reporter is on scene tweeting.

I hadn't heard about the "clicking noise" before. I wonder what a child's definition of a clicking sound is? I wonder if clicking was the actual word used or did an adult help them choose that? Could I use that word in a sentence once more, lol ...

What could someone have on their person that made a clicking noise as they moved about?

Were the boys in their room with the door closed when they heard this sound? It must be something foreign to routine noises they are used to hearing in their home.

I really need to get some sleep, but I think the most likely candidates are camera and stapler/staple gun, especially if it was described as a 'cha-ching'.

Hang in there, WSers! Catch up with you all later.

I'm with you. Jury duty in the AM. Good Night all.

How about someone attempting CPR to a child in a crib? Bouncing of the box spring?

Cutting cocaine on a mirror or a glass table makes a clicking sound.

But would it be loud enough for the boys to hear it in another room?

Just had a thought... a baby coughing on a baby monitor may sound like 'clicking' with the distortion... :(

I wonder where the charges are for the cell phones, are they still at the house or did the vanish with the phones? Would be interesting to know if the phones were or were not being charged while they were on the counter...would someone have taken time to unplug phones (all 3) from chargers or unplug chargers from electrical outlets?

I thought the "cha ching" was a joke about the lawyer?:waitasec:

I thought about the CPR also... :(

The box spring is a good guess, too.

Here is another theory: The Stranger enters the home via the window, he hops in, plugs in the pumpkin lamp, puts on these:

Dances his way to the kitchen, places cells in his pocket, then dances his way to take Lisa.

Clicking could easily be someone trying to use the computer discretely--I do that when I am using the laptop in bed and my husband is trying to sleep. So I try to hit enter slowly and pause in between so I'm not caught still on Websleuths when I should be sleeping. Did the Irwin's have a laptop? Where was the computer in relation to where the kids were sleeping?

Some doorknobs or handles make a clicking noise when you turn them very slowly like when you are trying not to wake someone up (like a child you've just gotten to sleep!). I also heard a soft click, pause, click, pause, click when an intruder turned the door handle very, very slowly. Luckily, the door was locked!

I haven't seen photos of the exterior or interior doors of the Irwin's house.

The kids used the word "clicking?" When did they say that?

Cell phones when being manually programmed click, too. Who hasn't been yelled at a time or two for "clicking?" Toe nail clippers are very loud when there is no other noise in the house.

Just thinking, kittens run circles through houses, between napping, and they do it the most in the wee hours of the morning. They also find anything fun (milk top rings) to push under a door or an appliance and spend minutes trying to retrieve them.
