I found a great blog article about Dr. Samuels being a quack--the author researched psych databases and found NO published articles, not even co-authored articles.

Also explains the tests he gave and all the other problems that go with this hired gun. He's a paid witness, period.

http://kristinarandle.com/blog/jodi-arias-trial-how-expert-was-dr-samuels-expert-testimony/

I enjoyed reading that, thank you for posting it.

OT....But Katie (not katiecoolady, the other Dr. Drew jury girl) if you're reading, I just saw you on HLN @ 4pm and you were great and gorgeous! :)

I watched her last hour. She's great! Someone give her her own show.... I'd rather watch her than some of these other TH's on HLN.

I think she likes Mr Martinez. Not necessarily in that "I want you way" but I think she appreciates him and likes to think she is his match in court. She is not, she needs to be much better prepared and not sound like she has to think of what to ask next and how to ask it? The art of delivering the goods in court, it needs to roll off her much better.

She sounds new.

When one considers what she has for a client and this latest witness, poor gal doesn't have much to work with. I'm not pro-defense, but I think defending a cold blooded killer and then having a bumbling "professional" as her last hope, would be a chore for the best of lawyers.

RS now disputes the Webster's definition of compassion as being sympathy... So now he has his own dictionary even
Maybe he uses the same dictionary Jodi uses?

I don't know anything about Tesoro, but Walmart has had an incredibly detailed inventory system for years. They mine their own data for restocking and to predict future sales. They can predict how many packs of gum will be sold at a specific store on a particular afternoon. And iirc, the Walmart transaction was paid with a credit card. they will reiterate their policy of not giving cash back for items paid for with a credit card--they will only credit the account.

Sorry...the reciept says cash. Forty five dollars.

Poor Travis, what a shame he ever met Jodi. Rest in peace forever, Travis.

I often think that poor Travis would still be with us if he had not met jodi- he had no idea Jodi would be his doom when he met her. so very sad.

I find it very odd that any mental health professional presented with a woman clearly lying about an incredibly violent slaughter doesn't contemplate that she may have a more significant issue than PTSD. How does a professional only believe what the known killer tells him or writes in her own journal and concludes she is peace loving and non-assertive and has low self esteem. Wouldn't you also consider whether she had a serious personality disorder which allows her to live in her "alternate reality" and nonchalantly discuss all manner of things with Det Flores. I assume one would view those interrogation tapes. Facile lying about a gruesome murder does not strike me as a hallmark of a non-assertive peaceful person. I just find his conclusions fly in the face of reality which he seems very willing to ignore in order to enter Jodi's world and accept her alternate reality.

Not to mention the text messages the Dr was led to describe as "mean" were accusations about the defendant that were about her lying, manipulation, sociopathology etc, hardly the normal insults romantic partners throw at each other-Travis was clearly laying out details of things Jodi did. How can a Dr determine from those specific accusations only that Travis was "mean" to poor Jodi and use that to further bolster Jodi as victim?

Agree. I think this psychologist was paid to find and promote ONLY the two things that the DT believes will get her out of her mess.

Note, when asked, he said he found anxiety and a cluster of other issues. But the DT doesn't really want all this stuff uncovered or discussed. Probably because if he mentions borderline or sociopath, the jury will know for sure she is lying to their faces and deserves the DP.

The DT found a psychologist who would "rig" his tests, findings, and reports precisely how they wanted them. He's a well-paid team player who probably thought this 15-minutes would later help him make lots more money in the spotlight.

Ok I'm wrong.. 2 arrests made (age 14 and 17 i think) in the baby shooting in Georgia. Possibly caught by checking school attendance records on who did not show up

She wont be a blond that for sure. And I have seen grey hair during close ups. She will be an old looking hag in a very short time.

i just saw katiecoolady on HLN she reports JA has lost so much weight. what do you make of it? i really think whatever the reason it's purposefully done, not at all because of stress. She wants sympathy from the public. I've thought too that she's holding out and hoping for an acquittal, and hopes to jump in that bikini when she gets out. :jail:

I don't know where you read that but if you look at the crime scene photos his room was not torn apart.

No, but the pics of his office and that closet in the office looked like someone was looking for something. Jodi? I don't buy her story about the CDs either, Jodi was snooping or she showed up, unannounced and maybe, Travis was trying out his new floor cleaner...then, watched videos to distract himself from Jodi's rantings about Cancun. Somehow, we never hear about Jodi inviting herself, announcing herself as his girlfriend, stalking, etc. from Jodi...oh no, Travis couldn't stay away from Jodi. Everyone is always so in love with her! Phooey!

I'm not sure how I'm going to cope when they get this next non-expert up there...you KNOW they're going to drag TA through the mud as evidenced by the obvious set-up of "she was abused/had ptsd" story from Dr. Samuels.

I hate that these frauds are able to find a niche and fool people who don't know any better. Laviolette has no PhD, I don't think she's published in a peer reviewed journal, her youtube videos are simply bizarre. Yet, like with other charlatans, people are taken in by them with their appeals to their emotions and incorrect conclusions drawn from facts in any given situation. I do NOT get how people like this woman and Sally Koriath are allowed in as experts.

the worst part is that some juror(s) might actually believe her- that is very scary

Mea Culpa!

I previously thought a small chef's knife could have made all the wounds described in the autopsy report. Until I was watching HLN After Dark tonight and noticed the autopsy report indicated a wound 1 3/4" wide by 5 3/4" deep (to the abdomen).

I had failed to take into account the 1 3/4" notation and now realize it would have taken a bigger knife--a wider blade--to inflict that wound.

It comes as no surprise Jodi would want to use the most lethal knife she could, to finish him off relatively quickly, in the shower (as she originally intended).

Note the large chef's knife in the attached photo has a blade 1 3/4" wide when it is at a depth of 5 3/4", and 1 1/2" wide at a depth of 3 1/2"--both wounds [1 3/4" x 5 3/4" (abdomen) and 1 1/2" x 3 1/2" (heart)] detailed in the autopsy report. The autopsy report describes the neck incised wound as 6" by 1 1/2".

The knife also can make cuts of 3/4" and 1" and 1 1/4" when the knife goes in less deep. Note the autopsy report said the knife hit bone at certain places in the back, which would explain why the knife didn't go very far in those particular places. The photo below shows at which points the knife goes in at 3/4", 1", 1 1/4", 1 1/2" and 1 3/4".

OMG I can't imagine the terror Travis felt when he saw that lethal weapon. She used a knife that cut bone, cut six or more muscles, tendons, the heart artery, lung cavity, came close to decapitating him. This knife explains the wide incised (more wide than deep) wounds on his scalp and base of his thumb. Not saying this is the exact type of knife she used--the blade wouldn't have to be 10" long--but imo it's close. MOO

During HLN After Dark last night, I kept yelling at my TV (actually, Vinnie Politan) to tell the mock jury about Jodi slashing Travis' tires (twice) and his girlfriend's tires. I wish the real jury could know this, too. I think it's important for them to know Jodi is no novice with a knife and that she obviously brought her own knife to the tire slashings. I think she carries one in her backpack and I do believe that if the cuts in those tires were matched against the cuts in Travis' body they would find it was the same knife used in both crimes. (I was going to use the word "incidents" instead of "crimes" but it makes me crazy when the defense team or Samuals calls Travis' murder an "incident".)

Has there been any notification or discussion about why the DT has filed a Motion for Protective order today?

Anyone??
It might have to do with the 2 women that were kicked out of court yesterday. They sat behind Mrs. Arias and her sister and one of them said loud enough to hear that she wished JA would die. The family called the baliff and they were kicked out:twocents:

Something else that has been nagging me and I would like to see if any WSers noticed this as well. During Jodi's testimony covering her "foggy" drive into the desert following the murder of Travis, she mentions that she came out of the "fog" to discover she had blood on her and that she was barefoot. She stated that she had left her shoes behind. Well, I've looked everywhere and have not seen any mention of Jodi's shoes being found at the crime scene. Have any of you seen anything? We do know that she had on a pair of black socks in the photo where she is dragging Travis down the hallway. There were socks in the washing machine.

IDK about socks, but I'm pretty sure she took her bloody shoes with her, in spite of her "fog". Her shoes weren't at Travis'.

Amazing how thorough a clean-up job she did, despite not even realizing it. Wutta bunch 'o hooey, imho! :blushing:

Was it ever determined what Jodi bought at CVS?

when i first heard of those on ebay they were going for under 200 dollars a piece, should have bought them, resold them and donated the money to travis's family.

she's really pumping them out during the trial. i think that's the things she's hiding and sitting on, and the mitigator is getting a hold of them and giving them to her mother.

I saw on the JII site that people are bidding them up and not paying to flub up the sales. The JA crazies were really upset about it saying "It's terrible those JA haters are doing this making it difficult for those who appreciate real art from buying it" and many more I can't remember right now. I did think it would be a good idea for us to all get together and buy them all and then make a youtube video of burning them.
It infuriates me that she is making money off these while having the state pay for her defense. Can this be told to the jury?

I guess it's a good thing the dufus twins can't hear what I wish for Jodi. I'd be in :jail:
