Before jury is brought in. Judge goes through motions. One thing of note: Ana Walshe’s alleged boyfriend is expected to testify this week.
Next,
@MassStatePolice witnesses are brought in and judge makes sure they’ll be available to testify. Among them: Sgt. Yuri Bukhenik who was involved in the
#KarenRead murder case.
Jurors are brought in and all answer that they did not speak, research, go on social media regarding the case. They are being sworn in.
Opening statements are complete. The prosecutor alleges that Brian Walshe knew his wife was having an affair & looked up her boyfriend. He says Ana Walshe went on trip with her boyfriend, missing Thanksgiving with her family & missed her Xmas flight after night with boyfriend.
Prosecutor tells the jury they will see evidence of Walshe doing internet searches like "best way to dispose of a body" and security video of him buying cleaning supplies & hacksaw along with hatchet.
Prosecutor says DNA on evidence in dumpsters matched both Ana and Brian Walshe. He tells jurors to use "common sense" when deliberating this case.
The defense then delivers its opening statements. He claims Ana Walshe died of "sudden unexplained death".
The defense says Brian and Ana Walshe rang in NYE with a friend, then went to their bedroom and continued the celebration. The defense attorney Brian went downstairs to clean dishes and when he returned to the bed, Ana was dead.
The defense says the Walshes loved each other, were planning a future. That Brian Walshe was concerned police would think he hurt Ana, so he lied in hopes of doing what was best for the kids futures.
