not to quibble, i know its a small detail...

i believe he said "the girl" not "that girl".

im not sure his specific wording means anything but if we are discussing it then i think using "the" sounds a little less dismissive than "that", tho they both sound impersonal and distancing.

"There is no one who knows me – or who has ever known me – who knows anything about me, really... They're going to tell you something that does not line up with anything I tell you because I'm two different people basically." Quote by Israel Keyes..

Foxfire, that is very scary that PC said that in reference to himself. If I were his old friends/gf/family, I'd be revisiting every single thing he ever said/did. Maybe somewhere in his past, PC had committed crimes no one knows about yet...:scared:

That quote is very creepy...... and really, who knows what anyone is REALLY like all the time. Of course, most are not killers....

Referring to CR as a girl was simply objectification of her; minimizing her as an object, rather than the living, loving, and caring human being that she was..
Speaks volumes about CP, imo..

The affidavit said that when Chism was spotted by a police officer the next day, he was carrying a knife. A search of his backpack turned up a bloodstained box cutter. Asked where the blood came from, Chism allegedly responded: "The girl." He was also carrying credit cards and driver's licenses belonging to Ritzer, as well as a pair of woman's underwear.

I posted the quote of IK's to show that many, if not most sadistic psychopaths have two selves; a good self and an evil self....

Imo, CP has two selves; one self that he presents in public, and another rage filled self that only emerges and is seen by his innocent victim/s..

He is the "quiet type" or I think the term "silent but deadly" can be applied here. How many of these young killers are known to be anti-social, quiet in nature, or have become increasingly withdrawn prior to killing? Just off the top of my head, it seems like a common but not exclusive trait. This type that kills does not handle everyday life stress like the majority of others. As their anger builds, they blame everyone around them for why "their" life is so awful in their minds, they lack empathy for others. This type begins to have violent fantasies. The ease of the internet allows them to feed their developing brains with violent and/or sexual material. The thoughts are obsessive.

I agree with Dr. Morrison's analysis:

A chromosome abnormality in serial killers begins to express itself during puberty, Morrison said.

Serial killers, who are mostly men, develop and begin to display their homicidal tendencies during puberty when that chromosomal abnormality expresses itself.

While researchers don't have an exact gene identity, the fact that serial killers are men leads researchers to believe there is 'a change associated with the male chromosome make up,' Morrison said.

But researchers are still investigating how the gene changes and why it does.

Most serial killers also kill their first victim during those same teen years.

http://www.businessinsider.com.au/1...-the-most-likely-trigger-for-serial-killers-1

The term serial killer is used here but shouldn't be used by definition, because there are those that are caught, before they have a chance to kill again. Those defined as mass murderers should also apply.

Also, the fact that these killers are primarily male cannot be ignored. I wanted to note this, because I rarely see gender being discussed.

Also from the link:

Statistically, there is no evidence that anything that happens in childhood turns people into serial killers, meaning the tendency could be deeply ingrained.

Serial killers hunt in a variety of ways. But they never develop an emotional attachment to their victims.

Where an enraged man might kill his wife's lover out of jealousy, serial killers feel no such attachment to their victims.

'They have no appreciation for the absolute agony and terror and fear that the victim is demonstrating,' Morrison said. 'They just see the object in front of them.'

'A serial murderer has no feelings,' she added. 'Serial killers have no motives. They kill only to kill an object.'

But the most shocking thing is, regardless of how different their lives may be, serial killers have shocking similarities.

“No matter what country, ethnicity, race, socioeconomic background, education, familial background, they are all exactly the same,” she said.

I agree with the bolded. These killers are so commonly referred to as being nice or charming. They are able to appear normal and harmless on the outside. In a lot of cases there are no prior signs that they have any violent tendencies.

They know their thoughts and actions are wrong, therefore they are able to hide them and control them until the opportunity presents itself where they think they won't get caught when they act.

Thanks for the clarification Foxfire!

I believe that we each have many, varied aspects of ourselves -- some good, some bad, some neutral -- and that at any given point in time, we choose which aspect of ourselves to evince depending upon the circumstances and the types of people we are with.

Nonetheless, I believe the majority of people in society do not harbor a *murderous monster* side in them that we keep hidden from others. I believe yes, we are each capable of doing aggressive, even violent things but that most of us have a threshold of self-restraint that we do not cross, a type of *moral compass* that keeps us grounded and in line with what is right and good -- except when a situation calls for immediate self-preservation or self-defense for which violence may be the only recourse.

I believe this because reality bears this fact, our more peaceful natures, out. If this were not true, the world would be running amok every single second with savagery and violence at every turn...and there'd be few if any human beings left on earth.

In short, IDK what to believe about PC. IDK if he is a monster of the psychopathic sort, a "serial killer" in the making (or already in progress) and that he had committed all types of heinous acts in the past, or that the rape/murder of CR was a one-time, isolated incident...

I hope his psychological profile will be published in the media so that we can learn something more about him, e.g., what were his triggers and how we could have stopped him from acting out on them. If anything constructive can be garnered from this, it should be ways to *prevent* this sort of violence from erupting from another person (teen, adult, or even child)...Along the same vein, it was most unfortunate that nothing could be obtained from Adam Lanza's mental history that would have predicted his violent rampage against school children/teachers.

I've of the mindset that if we can identify certain patterns of attitudes/cognitions/behaviors in violent people, we may be able to point out risk factors for violence and prevent if not altogether curb their violent rages against innocent people or even towards themselves.

Had this come out earlier and I hadn't seen it?

Has his uncle not seen the affidavit? Or that there are multiple videos of his nephew's actions? Or that his nephew confessed?

I mean, I get that people don't want to think their loved one did this, but we have many, many, many cases with far less evidence than it seems there is in this case...I'm honestly shocked his uncle seriously seems think it's a case of mistaken identity! Let alone that he thinks he'll be cleared of the charges!

Chism's uncle, Terence Chism Blaine, says he doesn't believe his nephew could have killed Ritzer.

'They probably have mistaken identity. I believe what will happen is they will clear him of these charges,' he told the Boston Globe.

May be PC did have a lot of anger against his mom. May be his mother was very controlling and he felt very repressed. She phoned the police to say that he was missing at around 6pm!!! If my 14 year old did not come home by 6pm I won't call the police! He may also have staged the body to look as though the murder had been done by a serial killer?? after he realized what he had done??

Welcome!!!!!

I think he did have mommy issues, myself. I think those could lead to authority issues, btw (like noted above) and it's unusual that he attacked a teacher as his presumably first victim. I think that would probably be an authority/mommy/women thing, and he somehow thought she was beneath him. All the victims are beneath them.

I don't think the posing was just a cover-up because of the rape he did do, and with a demeaning object. No, he was humiliating her and torturing her in that sexual sadist's way. Staged ones usually don't even pull the underwear down far, or just lift the top up or something. I watch a lot of cases on TV, lol ;)

I think that it is very important to look at his father's history.
Alleged abuse---physical/emotional???

  • #576
I sometimes think his choice of victim ( someone everyone loved ) was like a big FU to the community. They way he degraded her and wrote the "I hate you all" note could mean this or even " I hate all people/society".

"SALEM -- The accused murderer of popular Danvers High School math teacher Colleen Ritzer was arraigned on first degree murder charges as an adult in a Salem Superior Court courtroom on Wednesday.

Philip Chism, 14, pleaded not guilty on all charges including the charges of aggravated rape and armed robbery as a youthful offender.

Chism appeared emotionless in court while clad in khakis and a navy fleece pullover saying only "not guilty" when asked his plea by Judge Howard Whitehead."

So do we think they're trying for not guilty by reason of insanity? This is wild.
