About the criminal charges against KR.

ADA Brennan is a fair attorney.

It is of my opinion that ADA Brennan didnt ask (or maybe he did?) for the second-degree murder charge be removed because there are new vehicle data evidence against KR. We shall see. This trial is just getting started.

Also, of my opinion, that the new vehicle data consistent with a pedestrian strike. Perfect timing, impact, motion sensors, detection -everything will fall into place.

The SUV should have been equipped with the Lexus Safety System

- its supposed to alert the driver when they are at risk of hitting a pedestrian, cyclists, and vehicles.

  • Would have given warning alerts, buzzer or chime sounds to get driver’s attention.
  • The system would engage and enhance stopping power if the brakes are applied (so brakes were not applied?)

Of course, keep in mind about the weather - it was not blizzard like conditions at that time. Did she ignore the warnings…alerts? She was extremely intoxicated.

Interesting that KR claims she had music blasting on the stereo.

Matter of opinion

Karen Read is on trial for a second time in the death of her boyfriend, Boston Police Officer John O’Keefe and leaving him to die in the snow.

"My father said to me, Karen, why don't you stay at home tonight, it’s going to snow, but I didn't.

Dad, if I listened to you...none of this would have happened."

KR: “ It suits us all if John blows off a little steam… cuz he always has steam."

So when John got out of my car, he took my full vodka soda which is sitting in the cup holder and he walked up the driveway and John always walked kind of skipped and walked at the same time, he’s always in a rush, and I saw him reach the breezeway door.

I waited probably a minute and he doesn't come; and... It only took like two or three minutes for me to be irritated - so I called him... didn't want to wait for him to respond to a text and he didn't answer... I said you’ve got to be kidding me - you just went in and I'm sitting here it shouldn’t take you five minutes to determine if we're welcome -- After 10 minutes I left.

Ah thank you. So he did have two glasses in his hands when he got out of the car! He would have had to put them down to have his hands free to turn off his phone, hence bending over and not being visible behind the car, IMO. Hence too broken glass not matching John's!

If she'd seen him reach the door she wouldn't have left a message saying no one knows where you are.

Plus he didn't look mortally wounded to her.

So many new reveals.

She said he had two glasses in his hands. This is new info, she recently disclosed the additional glass. That would explain the two different pieces of glassware at the crime scene.

It's always stuck with me why she needed to ask so early on "no one knows where you are" when she had just left him.

These are Karen Read's words:
“He didn’t look mortally wounded as far as I could see”

‘I f***ing hate you!’: Prosecution plays voicemails Karen Read left for John O'Keefe the morning he died

Read allegedly Googled ‘DUI attorneys’

Prosecutors sought to introduce a Google search Read allegedly made for “DUI attorneys” at 1:27 p.m. on Jan. 29, 2022 — before her interview with State Police troopers. Assistant District Attorney Laura McLaughlin argued the search undermines Read’s defense that she “was framed, that she had no intent or opportunity to commit these crimes. Further, that she was not intoxicated at the time.”

Defense attorney David Yannetti said Proctor, the lead investigator, had called Read about eight minutes before Read made the search. He argued Read was only looking for an attorney to defend her presumptive innocence.

Judge Beverly Cannone said she would not allow the search into evidence at this time, though she left the door open for its inclusion later on in the trial.

Read says, “And then when I hired David Yannetti, I asked him those questions the night of Jan, 29th. ‘Like David what if, I don't know, what if I ran his foot over, or, or, what if I clipped him in the knee and he passed out and or went to care for himself and he threw up or passed out and David said, ‘Yeah then you have some element of culpability.’ So that's how I thought about things for about three days.”

Prosecutors hope to use Turtleboy's phones to show Karen Read's 'consciousness of guilt'

THIS.
So much THIS!!!!
Karen Read put everyone through hell because she refuse to accept ANY culpability for what she had done. She hit him, she knew she hit him and she left him to die.

I've always wondered about the backup stop safety system. My vehicle has it and it works as my husband had to test it when we first got it by standing behind it and me backing up. I wonder why it didn't stop in John's driveway when we see her back into his vehicle. I know mine (Jeep GC) can be disabled if you want to hook up a trailer for towing. I also recall her getting her stereo replaced because it didn't support Apple Car Play. Maybe that had something to do with it, she ignored it or it was disabled. JMO

Yes and that was absolutely the correct decision from Cannone. The very fact that the CW even attempted to draw adverse inference towards her decision to seek legal advice for any reason as evidence against her was so disgusting and desperate it actually beggars belief.

Even someone like Chandler Halderson, when they replayed his police interview in court they cut out the parts of it where he requests to speak to an attorney when presenting it to the jury.

I'm no legal scholar, I don't even live in America - but I believe you have a 5th amendment that prevents this sort of thing happening?

I think it would be super helpful if they had taken the jurors to the house at night instead of the day. I've seen and heard mention that a body would be impossible to miss. Also that the yard is smaller than the photos appear.

Does anyone know if the juror who came forward mentioned the actual scene and whether they believed a body on the ground could be missed by so many people walking to the house and driving by? I never watched his interview.
The yard is not near as large as photos make it seem. I measured from the front door to the edge of the road with google maps and it was about 52 ft. I then measured that same distance on my own home for viewing reference and it’s only 2ft difference. That yard is not big at all.

Yeah, that’s what I keep reading.

I don't remember them taking a jury view trip last trial.
So, do they still have her Lexus in evidence?
Odd that there's still a rock saying Albert when they sold the place and moved from there.
Why would a new owner keep it? Maybe the new owner is also an Albert.
I don't see how that many people at the afterparty could miss seeing a body lying right there as they were leaving.

Not a big difference from your measurements, but I happened to see the "about 72 feet" in the article.

Guarino and Trooper Michael Proctor went back to 34 Fairview Road on May 8, 2023, to gauge the distance from the spot where O’Keefe’s body was found to the home’s front door — a span of about 72 feet, he said.

There you go, two of them together, who knew not long after they would both be under fire for unprofessional LE behavior. One still has upcoming event. Other fired.

I didn’t personally measure it, it’s google maps measurement. Maybe it’s not accurate, though I trust it more than Proctor.

I think the Lexus had moved further away towards the flagpole by the time they left, and there is no evidence to say they were watching KR while they were parked behind, talking to his sister. I think the most they were asked was if they saw KR alone as they drove past, or saw John exiting the vehicle at any point, which they must have missed, before they drove away. I suspect they were focused on his sister most of the time, while they were engaged in conversation. MOO
There was direct evidence from Ryan Nagel and his girlfriend who testified they saw the SUV's rear lights on the entire time, and they saw the interior light on while they were behind the SUV. They saw no sign of JOK outside the vehicle. They saw a man in the passenger seat as they were both turning onto Fairview though. They both testified as they drove away only seeing the woman.

I can agree that it was about 72 ft from front door to where the body was found. When I said 52 ft I was only pointing out the width of the yard from front door to curb straight out, his body was to the side though.

Hi everyone! I'm just now getting a chance to catch up on this retrial ... I've watched all of the testimony, and the text exchange was very disturbing to me ... their relationship was so toxic, and I guess I always assumed that it was his idea to go out that night, but according to the texts ... she was pushing to go out ... one thing that did not get addressed, at one point it appeared the texts didn't make sense like there may have been a few messages missing ... I do know that software that dumps data from cells can be problematic ... I guess I was just wondering if anyone else caught that or am I overthinking it ;)
