Hey everyone.
Throughout my almost 30 years in the true crime world on the Internet, I have never encountered anything like this case.
People have written to me with the passion of a thousand white-hot suns, swearing that Karen is not guilty, and others have written to me with the same passion, saying that Karen is absolutely guilty.
As someone who watched this case without knowing all the facts that you all know, I can honestly say it appears the prosecution has mucked up so much that I will be shocked if they find Karen Read guilty. The defense has done a great job of pointing out the prosecution's mistakes. I'm not talking about actual evidence. That has gotten lost in all the noise, in my opinion.

If there is another hung jury, I think I will look at my career choice and decide to leave true crime and become a nun, like I thought I wanted to be when I was 4-years-old. It's the only logical thing I can do. ;)
Just crazy when all the "behind the scenes connections" get exposed. The judge, the police, the Alberts and the McCades and their friends. Charging Karen was not about justice, imo.

Verdict or Hung Jury after having lunch on the cw?

John O'Keefe's life mattered.
[mod snip]
Of course his life mattered. That’s exactly why it matters that the jury gets this right. Prosecuting someone without clear evidence of how he died, or that she caused it, isn’t justice for John. It’s just doubling down on a shaky narrative at Karen’s expense. And if Karen is innocent, then framing her doesn’t honor John’s memory, instead, it further obscures the truth about what really happened to him. That should concern everyone who believes his life mattered. JMO.

I can only pray that somehow that will somehow be changed and we do get to watch the case unfold during a televised trial. I am a proud Ma**hole and want these corrupt folks to be exposed and what’s coming to them.
The rot starts from the head down, imo, and MM is currently under federal investigation for corruption. I think he NEEDS a win here to get the feds to back off a bit. IMO

If it’s another hung jury, I will join you in the convent!

anyone else getting a bit concerned that after those questions that seemed to indicate where they were that nothing coming down yet?
There must be a few people who aren’t budging from their stance, no matter which side they’re on.

We need to keep fighting for justice. For sure a massive cleanout is needed of some judges and police departments. This case will go in the books. It has exposed so much, which is a good thing.

I wonder if the jury is having pizza for lunch...;)

They gonna wait to have lunch before telling the court they’ve reached a verdict we reckon?

I want to know what, if any, checks and balances are in place within the courthouse and staff specific to this matter. Namely, receiving and delivering notes/questions. ::cough:: Like the chain of custody with evidence. I think at this point its safe to be skeptical of any gov't official handling this case, but IMO the radar spiked yesterday with the timeline of receiving the 4th question. We will never know. IF exposed, it wouldn't be for some years.

I hear its not unheard of for juries to wait for their last free lunch until peacing out. Something, ANYTHING from the jury better come soon after lunch. Notes, anything! I don't mean that entirely from a place that most of us are feeling--stress, exhaustion, etc. It's about these wheels of justice not turning at all.

No verdict watch for me tonight or morning ( Australia), semester work presentation in the morning so sleep is necessary tonight.
Good luck
Is it? I must be thick-headed then because I don't understand how they indicate they are NG on manslaughter but HUNG on OUI. If they check box 1, it is NG on manslaughter and all lesser. If they check box 5 that means they all agree she is NG of manslaughter but guilty of OUI. If they all agree NG on manslaughter, but can't agree on OUI, I still don't see how they fill out this form. The university who granted me my master's degree must be so disappointed in me. LOL
im right there with you

Since the clock is still ticking it appears the jury is working while having lunch.

I hope that means they feel close to a verdict….

I'd imagine they made that decision, huh? In normal cases it makes sense to not wonder if that is an indication of anything. But this one? What are your guys' thoughts on a working lunch in this case?

That trial won’t be televised? Why? I didn’t know that decision was already made.
Wondering if it’s too sensitive based on things that happened to her as a minor? Or is it just bc it is a cop on trial?..
The charges filed were Federal so all criminal prosecution is proceeding in a federal court
Afaik Farwell pled NG this month and no trial date has been set
There is an overlap of LE involved here with Karen's case with the Birchmore case and also an overlap with the Anna Walshe murder by her husband, down in Cohasset MA

Given the young age of the jury, they aren't doing anything before a free lunch.

You have this ridiculous dilemma exactly right Imo.

Hung jury on the last subsection 5, OUI; they reach no. 5 by moving down the slip and *unanimously deciding Ng on each as they go ( this is according to the instructions and the amended slip) until they reach the bottom, yet there is nowhere to record these unanimous decisions as they go. Then if they hang on number 5 irrevocably there is no written record of the process they took to get there. The jury's discussions are privileged.Imo

Then when they are asked in court if they have reached a verdict on Count 2 all they can say is No. AFAIK there is no legal, non legally erroneous way to be polled for the process that lead the jury to being hung, or which lesser they are hung on. Judge declares mistrial, KR is up for retrial for manslaughter. Jmo
