A jury found Karen Read not guilty of second-degree murder after prosecutors retried her for the death of her boyfriend, Boston police officer John O’Keefe

To be fair, I believe I did hear her thank them. And talking to them briefly in private is standard for a case like this.
Yes I’ve rewatched so many times and she did say thank you jurors for your service. You are dismissed and I’ll talk to you more soon.

Taking these not guilty verdicts and heading to bed with a smile on my face.
It's been a crazy couple of trials, but it's done.
Hopefully there is some investigation going on behind the scenes, so that the truth about what happened to JOK finally comes out.
Goodnight.

I think it was both a risky and a brilliant move for the defense to get the stand-alone DUI added in, even if it did result in the judge sowing more confusion with the jury slip. We'll probably hear from jurors in the coming days and weeks, but I suspect there was a juror or two who felt she needed to be punished for drinking and driving that night and this gave them an outlet for that without finding she'd actually struck John. Especially with those clips being brought in.

We know who the suspects in John's murder are. It sickens me to think how these people befriended the O'Keefe family, love-bombed them, and actively worked to blind them to the truth of what they did to their son, brother and uncle that night. But the truth has a way of coming out. Let's hope there is real justice for John soon.

At his funeral there were tons of cops from all over the place. No cops showed up in court with John’s family. No show of support from any police. There was room because there were always empty seats, you’d think a cop that worked with John would show up once in a while for support but it seemed to always be Peggy, Paul, the ex girlfriend, his best friend, a cousin or two.
Wasn't there a cop manspreading sitting beside Peggy yesterday in court. He had a suit on and his legs were spread so far, he was almost touching Peg. He was taking up a lot of the bench.

Was it ever theorized why he was assaulted and murdered that night? Why was he murdered?
I don't think anyone believes it was intentional murder.

Thank goodness the jury got it right! This has been such a bizarre witch hunt and unfortunately we'll never know the real story of how he got all those injuries.
I think in time someone will talk in that town. They don’t seem like a very stable bunch. Jill Daniels….whoah

Heading that way myself. Celebrating the Not Guilty verdict has worn me out too. So happy for KR.

IOW he's not repentant at all, is grieving the loss of his beloved job, minimizing his "jokes" and hasn't learned much of anything in a year. Despicable human.
MOO
He is also appealing his dismissal.... so he is making lame excuses for his own behaviour, and still insisting that the investigation was good.

IMO, I do think we might hear more about what happened in that house. I have hope because someone called in the tip to investigate the folks in the house. Now that the trial is over, some folks might feel a little freer to ‘talk’. In addition, I think this case will (if it hasn’t already) attract people who want to get justice for John O’Keefe and start digging around on their own like podcasters, retired investigators, documentary filmmakers, etc. I wouldn’t doubt Turtleboy won’t have someone reach out to him bc of the way he championed KR. IMO.

I know her explanation but it was not plausible. Why would someone guilty return to the scene of he crime? your not aware it's extremely common?

So the dog caused his head injury? it's a red herring irrelevant. Claiming his head would was not consistent with being hit by a car is flat out wrong. An expert testified it was consistent and you shouldn't need an expert to tell you major blunt force trauma is consistent with being hit by a car.

If he was not by car, what is the alternative option? <modsnip - personalizing>
I don't think you understand how this works. The defense does not need to prove HOW JOK got a head injury. The CW DID have to prove that KR hit him and either directly or indirectly caused it.

The CW did not prove that. They could not prove it. An 12 jurors agreed that they did not prove that.

I’m seeing articles stating Hank will have made in excess of $400,000.00 after he submits his final invoices for being the special prosecutor on this case, that’s a lot of money for an oui conviction
Geez, he made the same as Aperture. He lost the case but won the lottery with this trial.
Too bad he wasn't the genius he was made out to be by someone here.
I found him just a mumbling goon who played dirty tricks with a lack of integrity.
Who would want to hire him!
MOO

All the reasonable doubt you listed was nonsense. You have reasonable doubt because there was no blood on the car when that was not required in the slightest for the prosecution theory just demonstrates this. Might as well say he had no broken bones therefore he was not hit by a car, reasonable doubt!!
Where have you been the last 3 years while this case was working it's way through the court system? I honestly don't understand popping in now to try and get some discussion going when it. is. over. She is not guilty. The points you bring up have been discussed ad nauseum and people are tired. The jury did not think the reasonable doubt in this case was "nonsense" since they found her not guilty. You obviously don't agree with the verdict but that won't change the fact that 12 people who sat through over a month of testimony found her NOT GUILTY.

The defense claim he was placed outside with a fresh head wound, so the bleeding should have continued unless a person bleeds only a very short amount of time from a serious head would. There is a lot of assumption on how much bleeding should be expected from that wound in that weather, again it's a grey zone.

I did not follow the trial in microscopic detail, so I am refreshing some facts in the trial. The smoke and mirrors are obvious, though along with her guilt. <modsnip - off topic>
You didn't follow it in detail, but you know who did? The jury.

Two medical examiners disagree with you.
seriously why is that. poster banging on about a case that has been decided?

She was acquitted. She is Free. A jury of her peers found her not guilty. There absolutely, positively have been conclusive arguments to everything you have had questions for. I pointed you in a direction where you can go and gather more in depth analysis to your arguments since you yourself said, "I did not follow the trial in microscopic detail". I was thinking since you did not follow the case as in depth as some of the other posters here, and that since you just showed up here after the case was over that you might be able to gain more insight into this case and how a majority of the people on this site arrived at their conclusions.

Thank you for explaining to me the intricate workings of " IT" and how " IT" works though. Have a blessed night. :)
IT just did !!!!!! Trooper Paul. Haha

Alternative option one: He was knocked backward or fell backward and hit his head on the concrete step in the garage.

How do we know what kind of damage occurs to a tail light during an accident? We look to accident reconstruction experts. Enter ARCCA.

Wow!
I haven't followed this case at all. But it sounds like the evidence just was not there and it sounded like a police cover up IMO.

A bit different from LE becoming fixated on having the person responsible.

Was it that clear to everyone what happened?
I haven't followed this case diligently like other stalwarts here, but enough so, here and in MSM (het 1st trial & this retrial, both the REAL miscarriages of justice IMO), to garner the takeaway that Karen was framed, or a patsy as they called it back in the day, for her beloved partner's death.

And the perpetrators of his death & her frameup did everything they could, and still are, pushing their own narratives, including breaking the law they've sworn to uphold in their professions in order to cover up some very nefarious wrongdoing and sick, violent hazing & misogynistic-type behavior against one of their own.

It's mind boggling, truly, that this retrial even had legs from the start. And just goes to show how deeply entrenched the tentacles of corruption still are in some fraternal societies and places.

Along with their ingrained mindsets & feelings of impunity, privilege & entitlement to do whatever they want to, no matter how depraved, without consequences, and throw someone else under the bus, which has no place in our society nor should it be left to let lie.

I'm thrilled the jury saw through the smoking mirrors & bullying stance & stagecraft that tainted the prosecution's case against Karen (yet again!), and hope she will be able to finally mourn her loss & heal from these dastardly assaults on her character, and them just kicking her so hard when she was already so down.

They're a bunch of predators & miscreants in my book, and should be held to account for what they've done, taking one innocent person's life and effectively destroying or trying to also destroy his loving partner as an encore.

Just. Despicable. RIP Dear John.

He has been there a lot, friend of JOK's. We didn't know JOK personally, but just have the feeling he would of seen through all of this and not stood for it. His inner sense of justice seemed strong.. IMO
