The Defense said they choose to call Dever as a witness as strategy. They knew what they were doing.
Right they did. They knew the jurrors would find her despicable. Imo

How do we know Buchenick didn’t request a transfer though? And if Dever is on sick leave for “stress”, the taxpayer still pays her for time off. MOO

He's being assigned to South Boston to do administrative work. He'll keep his full salary and pension but will be a chair-bound paper pusher forever. And the worst part for him is that there probably isn't much overtime need for admin workers. Yuri's base salary is about 120k according to the MA state employee salary database, but for the last number of years he has been making an additional 50 - 60k a year in overtime. Losing that would be a big deal.

I'm going to guess Dever's superiors suggested she take a little mental health break. Workers Comp or FMLA. I just hope they take her guns away and never give them back. She's not stable enough to carry them within the community, IMO.

Bukhenik - reassigned rehomed 🤪

Also seeing that Dever is on a leave of absence. Hoping that gets confirmed today as well.

Of course, like Proctor.. they waited until the end of the trial, which is just shady when looking from the outside in.

For anyone that thinks that this investigation was 'good' or 'okay' in any way... how can you reconcile that with all the officers that have been demoted, fired, rehomed?

Crazy to see, never followed a case where this has happened before!

No truer words spoken and seems to have applied to others who also took the stand.
IMO

"My whole entire career depends on what I say on the stand"

Bukhenik - reassigned
Proctor - fired
Tully - transferred out of the department ( internal investigation found he had violated department rules and regulations)

Consequences of their own actions
Add Devers who received huge bonuses, is now reportedly on leave

Aj/Vanity Fair

“If the court even hinted that she was going to give her custody time and make her perp walk out of that courtroom with a guilty on the OUI, we were fully prepared. And Karen was prepared. She was buckled down for the possibility that Judge Beverly Cannone would give her a year of jail.” Had that been the case, Jackson says, “We were going to immediately appeal it.”

Cannone and Brennan agreed that jail time was not necessary; Read was sentenced to a year of probation.

Even more importantly they needed a way to get in her FBI testimony about Higgins and his best friend, Canton chief Ken Berkowitz hanging around in the sallyport for a "weirdly long time". Not that Jackson would come right out and say it in his last interview, but it seems the defense believes Higgins and Berkowitz are the ones who planted the taillight evidence. At the time, Berkowitz was out on leave with terminal cancer.

Dever's behavior on the stand was so over-the-top that the jury clearly got the impression she'd been pressured by superiors to change her testimony and now claim she imagined it all. Worked out as well as it could have for the defense.

Why was KB so determined to help out this case that he left his sick bed to do so. Talk about Legacy.

One of the crazier aspects of this trial (part 1 and 2] was how few cares the CW seemed to have over their corruption and incompetence being on full display for the world. Why put your team of assorted thugs and liars in the spotlight AGAIN? So I’m glad to see that someone somewhere now seems to at least care to keep up appearances. Jmo

Paid or unpaid "Leave of Absence"?

snip:

Section 4.
"Leave of Absence Only the Police Commissioner may grant a leave of absence, with or without pay.
A request for a leave of absence must be made in writing, on the prescribed department form, stating fully the reasons for the request and be submitted to the Commissioner, through Human Resources. An employee who has exhausted all sick and vacation credits in a calendar year must petition thePolice Commissioner in writing, for a leave of absence without pay for any subsequent absencesduring the year.
An employee who fails to petition the Commissioner within seven days after the beginning ofsuch absence will be carried as absent without leave.

But, but, but! Some are sayin. There’s no way so many people could be involved in a conspiracy! It must just be the jury disregarded the evidence!!

This is probably an unpopular opinion but I hope they approved a paid leave.

She was in an untennable position through no fault of her own. In a pickle with absolutely no safety net. And because of her job.
She's only 26 and someone gave her terrible advice - they said retract your statement to the fbi and use "false memory".
IME she should have talked to a lawyer/even a therapist. Anybody with experience in those "conflicts" and who holds what you tell them confidential and can offer experience based guidance. Anybody unrelated to LE and unrelated to her.
So she lies to the FBI - and they know it - and then her performance on the stand  - and all that anger at her situation boils over on national television during testimony in a despicable unbelievable display. It was a pretty big tantrum.
She was and continues to be eviserated on social media - at that age social media is your life blood and now its her curse. Many have written BPD to take away her gun etc etc.

LE needs to do right by her - I am not sure what that looks like..
Even if she was one of the Defense's star witnesses

I agree with you. The commissioner needs to answer to all of this.
