If the defense is so sure that Dever lied then why didn't the defense prove she was actually there and not already left and gone home, before KR's Lexus was brought into the garage? And actually, why didn't they do all this at the first trial?

The defense requested all video, and the CW conveniently didn't save some of the video; and what they did save - some of that didn't get turned over to the defense until December of 2024 or January 2025. IMO can’t help but compare the ‘non answer’ from the commissioner, i.e. ‘this person’ with that so called 911 call placed……. the one, where IIRC, there is a man (or something like that) out on the front lawn. Y’all know, the one where it wasn’t disclosed as a friend or a Canton, MA police officer, or as a possible visitor or guest to the residence that prior evening? SMH again. MOO

Thanks for the insight @cocomod ….. and that earlier post also goes IMO to the fallacy or misbelief that the defense needs to ‘prove’ something or anything. They don’t……. but IANAL so include that clarification.

And IMO the defense did exactly and only what they needed to do to bring Ms. Dever’s entire testimony, statements, and prior statements into question. And if I can misstate it as a response to the OP, the defense quite nicely ‘proved’ what was needed about Dever’s involvement in the KR trial.

And now we see in other statements and posts what the police commissioner has to now ‘say’ about that officer. SMH.

Not making light of anything in this case, but causes me to want to search ‘hos to drive to New England, Maine, and New Hampshire without passing through MA’. MOO

IIRC it was that new video that the defense believes they see Burkowitz in the sallyport with the Lexus. So it confirmed to them that he was there and near the Lexus and it WAS possible for Dever to have seen him and Higgins in the sallyport with the Lexus. They didn't have that for the 1st trial... most likely the reason why they didn't call her the 1st time around.

Let’s’ quote the guy correctly, please. He didn’t say he had “never heard” of Karen Read or the case. That doesn’t mean he isn’t lying in what he did say, but it wasn’t this. Personally, I’d be more inclined to think Devers is lying about her meeting with him.

Agree! IMO, her appearance on the stand indicated to me that from the beginning she wanted to be on whatever side was a benefit to her. Little did she know what a can of worms she would find herself in. She wanted to be noticed or appreciated by someone. t backfired and she handled it poorly.

Roberts said the Norfolk District Attorney's Office told her to stop contacting their witness advocate after the trial, even as strangers continue to throw things at her house, call her family "murderers" in the supermarket and mock her children.

They are no longer helping Kerri Roberts. She should be tickeddddd about that! I mean, I get it.. people think she lied, but harassing her or her kids in public doesn't solve anything. And she definitely did not have anything to do with JOK's death, she wasn't out with them the night before. DA's office dropped her like a hot potato though and she should be upset about that. IMO

Reading and reflecting on this matter……. it raises a hypothetical question IMO…..

So (insert eye roll)…… if the CW was so assured of officer Dever’s testimony, then why didn’t they call her in the second trial to dispute and ‘prove’ that IIUC Berkowitz and Higgins were NOT in the Sallyport during the time period in question. SMH.

Isn’t it often said that the truth is earlier to tell, as it is easier to remember, and does not need to be retold? MOO

Peter said since Dever was detailed about the meeting with Cox he's going with her version that they did meet.

Peter then did a hypothetical giving the benefit of the doubt to Cox and that Dever misinterpreted the conversation with Cox and that he was just cheering on all his officers and to do their best w/o mentioning KR's name but then why would KD have been called to Cox's office if not for her statements to the FBI which incriminated BH & KB and the upcoming trial?

Does Cox meet with every low level cop in his charge when they are called to testify in a case?? I think not, oherwise he would get nothing else done in his day .

KR feels sorry for JMc????? for answering the phone?? JMc knew what happened to JOK. When she answered her phone she went in to CONTROL mode and KR was just another victim in the whole mess. I certainly don't feel sorry for KR. Not after all this time and the evidence in front of her. She's smarter than that but then again she has to continue to live there.

I wonder if part of the reason they have told her to stop calling is she is no longer a witness in need of protection. The case is over; basically, she is on her own now. Harassment is just that now, it is no longer witness intimidation.

JM and KR were instrumental in causing the grand jury to indict KR. As far as I am concerned she should put her tail between her legs and get out of town. And I'm glad her new little friends dumped her. It's what she deserves. I can't stand that liar. JMOO

IMO, the above article reads like a telenova. The poor McCabes and Alberts, having to hire 'security' for their wedding ( but invited Fox News in for the camera shots ). Kerry Roberts IMO, has been left out of the loop as far as the ( McAlberts) PR firm and legal reps go. She's been tossed to the wind now, by the CW and the victim advocates associated. They all want nothing to do with her now. She's on her own, to pick up the pieces of her own faulty ( misunderstood) memory.....which she admitted to on the stand. Shunned by everyone ! ( Except those who saw through the corruption...)

In the meantime, the PR firm is heading the McCabe's and Alberts right off the proverbial cliff. They can't look any more ridiculous! I have popcorn.

Why did the defense never put her on the stand in the first trial? Probably, I'm assuming, because the log showed she had left the station well before the Lexus ever got towed there and the FBI seemed to be satisfied with her explanation that she'd been mistaken? AJMO

I don't understand what you are trying to say. She never told the FBI she "had been mistaken". She testified Higgy and Berkie were with Read's vehicle "for a weirdly long time" before the taillight finally turns up at the scene.

Her FBI testimony raises massive questions about Berkowitz and Higgins' behavior in the sallyport with Read's vehicle. And they had the opportunity to plant some the taillight at 34 Fairview prior to the Sert team arriving.

The defense knew last trial that Dever testified under oath about their odd behavior with the vehicle. However, she refused to meet with the defense before either trial so they weren't fully sure what she was going to say. Lawyers ALWAYS want to meet with their own witnesses first. This time they took a chance calling her without first speaking with her and it worked out really well for them.
