There's no evidence of a crime at this point.
I do feel that she may have been dealing with depression. It's not uncommon in our 50's, and she had recently been moving, which can really be stressful. Especially for a woman on her own.

What leads you to feel that she may have been dealing with depression?

Moving is always a bit stressful JMO

Quincy appears to be a big suburb (93,000)
Hanson is a smaller inland city (10,000)

Hanson, Massachusetts - Wikipedia

Sandra is only 54 years old. Perhaps she retired early? It can be an adjustment to leave the family home in familar surrounding with friends and employed to a smaller environment where you’re babysitting two active boys all day several times a week, haven’t made friends yet and small town atmosphere in a new home alone.
With no cell phone or computer. I wouldn’t know how to do what is needed on a daily basis.

I’m hoping they get a clue to find her soon, what could have happened to Sandra!

There were a few things , that's why I said "I feel..." not "I know..." . As I said, moving is stressful; Sandra was doing this alone; I'm sensing someone who may be dealing with lonely time in life.

You could be right, but if we were to stop posting because LE isn't sure foul play was or wasn't involved and we assume she harmed herself or took off, that just leads to others backing off from trying to find her.
Sounds like you are saying that I cannot express my opinion, because you think suicide is out of the question here.
I hope that's not what you were saying to me.
I know all too well that suicide is a possibility. It's happened twice in my family, sadly. One of those had warning signs; the other, no warning signs at all. He was missing for five days.
I am thinking of the case in Oregon a few years back, Jennifer Huston.
She was last seen on CCTV, entering a pharmacy to buy a snack. Vanished.
Found two weeks later. She hanged herself on a farm, 25 miles away.
Two little boys, married, home in the suburbs.
There was no warning with Jennifer, apparently. There was no warning about my loved one, it does happen.

It's certainly possible, but unlikely. She had no car and no one saw her, so she probably couldn't have gone very far to kill herself, and there have been multiple searches of the area with dogs.

Were the dogs able to pick up her scent outside of her house?

Sounds like Sandra would babysit her grandchildren all day several times a week - was the normal procedure for her daughter to bring the 3 boys to Sandra’s house?

And her daughter didn’t think it was odd that she wouldn’t answer the phone on Thursday? Where would she be without a car? And she brought the boys over on Friday morning, did her daughter work on certain days - wondering if there was a set schedule for days Sandra would babysit.

Someone could have noted it and known Sandra would be alone Wednesday night through Friday morning.

Police were back at Sandra's home today gathering evidence.

Search for missing woman resumes at her Hanson home

Nearly two months later, police were back at Crispo's home, hoping to find forensic evidence that indicates whether Crispo was taken or if she walked away on her own.

McMahon adds she thinks that evidence wasn't readily seen the last time police canvassed the house.

According to Crispo's daughter, the Plymouth County DA's office and the State Police have taken the lead in the investigation.

McMahon worries her mother was the victim of foul play, and that she's no longer alive.

I am so very sorry for your loss. (((Hugs)))

I also get what you're saying, but please know that Steel's isn't telling you how to post. She respects everyone's opinion and wouldn't do that. I think if you read it again, you'll see that the first thing she says is, "You could be right." :) MOO

Noting:

...collecting evidence that will be sent away for analysis.

...a family member gave her a ride home after dropping off her car at a local mechanic.

"I believe there is some forensic evidence indicating she didn't just walk away," said McMahon.

Those are some powerful notes, @PommyMommy. I'm so glad the lead in the investigation has been taken by the Plymouth County DA's office and the State Police. Perhaps there will now be some progress in finding Sandra.

What?? The state police come in.... seven weeks after Sandra disappeared?

  • #292
It is stated in her NamUs profile about Wednesday 7th: "Crispo spoke with her family later that evening via home phone." Was that part ever confirmed or disputed?

The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs)

The house was found with the lights on. Didn't she leave home and (supposedly) return when it was still daylight? Someone must have turned on the lights.

Has it been established if she had a habit of leaving her back door unlocked?

  • #293
I wonder if the locks were changed when the home was purchased?

  • #294
Does anyone know if the home has been sealed /taped off these past 7 weeks since Sandra disappeared?
I am just getting really frustrated at this . The scene has gone cold after seven weeks. If someone matters, do we wait seven weeks to bring out the best technology for finding them??

Can rule out any digital clues since she didn’t have a cell phone or computer.

Perhaps ring doorbell/cameras were on her neighbors - wish there was a clue somewhere.

  • #296
Need some good old fashioned police work. They solved and found long before cell phones and computers. This case makes me so sad.

It seems that so many crimes are given clues or solved this way nowadays. (Not sure why people bother attempting crimes/thefts, honestly.) Hopefully LE has asked neighbors for anything.

Thinking of Sandra, prayers for her family.

With the condition of the bed slats, the fact her dog was left without food and water, the lights were left on, and that her only vehicle was in the shop being repaired, it seems likely to me she was taken by force after nightfall. And I think something ugly may have happened to her on that bed before she was taken.

I think about her a lot, hoping she is safe somewhere while fearing she is not.

Was she taken by someone she knew? I think it’s quite possible.

All my own amateur speculation.

I keep thinking that it might have been someone she knew because whatever the police first saw - it did not give them enough evidence to officially suspect a struggle or foul play. Thank goodness they are going in the house and are doing what should have been done in the beginning! Keeping my fingers crossed they find something - some clue- ANYTHING. IMO
