Do we know if it was a franchise type of auto repair shop, or an independent individual?

Is it possible that the mechanic asked her on a date, for later that evening?
Yes, that is possible. I wish we had a little more information. Too many scenarios- family member, ex boyfriend/spouse, sex offender, former co-worker. She just moved there, and at this point, if foul play occurred, it could be anyone from local to the last place she lived.

I just keep looking and looking at Google Earth. It just looks like a regular rural town in MA. At first, awhile back, I saw Brockton and was concerned, but it’s not that close to Brockton. Even bad cities here have their nice pockets, like New Bedford. So it’s not really relevant, IMO. Even where her house was, it’s such a rural little pocket. I feel like it really might be someone she knew! The nearby SO makes me nervous as well. I know a lot of the cities/towns around Hanson and the lack of an obvious struggle is worrisome. And to have neighbors have zero input. It’s all so strange. Unless she did go for a walk and something happened. It does say in the article I just posted that she liked to take her grandchildren for walks around the neighborhood. I would love to read that dog’s mind! IMO Sorry for the rambling.

Could she have been mixed up with the wrong people or maybe someone knew she kept money under her mattress? Just speculating but money under the mattress would be a reason for the bed to be out of place. Or maybe she grabbed it in a hurry and left with a friend/lover?

This one references a reminder note that SC wrote, the possibility of foul play, Laina thinks her mother has been killed and SC’s dog’s name is Clarence. :-(

Daughter fears for mom who vanished from Hanson home – Boston Herald
Noting:
  • On her bedroom dresser, she’d left a handwritten note, a reminder to buy her daughter and oldest grandson birthday presents.
  • Laina said there may be evidence that a struggle took place in her mother’s home but wouldn’t elaborate because of the ongoing investigation.
  • “I think somebody killed her,” she said.
  • Sandra would make arts and crafts with her grandsons and take them for walks around her neighborhood.
  • “She lived for her grandchildren,” Laina said.
  • Her dog, Clarence, is a black lab.
  • He looked scared sitting on a recliner.

Thanks Pommy! It’s looking more and more like foul play to me. Of course, we have no clue about her personal life, but I truly believe it when her daughter says she lives for her grandchildren. I can soo relate to that! I wish I had the opportunity to stay home and keep my 3 grandchildren as she did! If she feels even just a fraction of what I feel for my babies, then she would not purposely leave them. Someone took her away from them in my opinion. I pray they find her!

My mind did go to money under the mattress when I read the references to the bed boards. Then my mind went to an assault. There just isn’t enough info.

Thank you, Pommy for making organized notes out of my mess of a post! Lol. Very helpful.

Thank you for the article. :)

Did it strike you as odd that she wrote herself a reminder to buy her daughter and grandson birthday presents? I live by lists and notes myself, but I'm wondering if she's been having some memory problems. ? MOO

Reward offered for information leading to a discovery, location or arrest? I know in most cases, it doesn’t help, but sometimes it does. I wish money could be pulled together for that. IMO.

Just a note, but I had a black Lab. Love of my life, but guard dog he was not.

Clarence knew Laina and the kids. He would have bounded over to them acting all goofy. But he was sitting in a chair looking scared.

Like something had traumatized him.

If someone was dragging me out of my house, my black Lab would have been upset, worried, traumatized. He wouldn't have stopped whatever was happening. (My German Shepherd would have, though.)

Something happened in that house.

Oh man, her doggie is a Black Lab? Love them, I was blessed with two of them. Mine were so fun, loyal and loving. I wonder if he witnessed a struggle of some sort. Or he just may miss her and not understand why she's not coming home.

I just don't think Sandra just up and walked away somewhere by herself. Something bad happened to her, in my opinion- gut feeling from the start. I feel for her daughter and am so glad she's persistent in getting the word out about her mother- we see many cases on here where family doesn't make any effort in trying to get help to find their loved one that is missing.

One of our Black Labs- she was so sweet and lovable, we always joked that the worst that she would do to a burglar or murderer would be to kiss them to death or try to play with them.

Our male Black Lab was more aloof- loved and adored children- they could get away with anything. If any adult was a threat to our family or any child- he would growl and bare his teeth and no doubt, he would have attacked anyone that tried to harm us. I don't know, but that dog just knew who was good and who was evil.

I agree, poor Clarence saw or heard something.

The door being unlocked has me perplexed. Lights all on. Something happened to that poor woman, and it's a good bet her dog witnessed something.

I wonder if the crime scene techs found any evidence during both of their visits to her home.

I hope her family gets answers soon. I just feel like Sandra knew this person. Gut feeling, no facts.

I still think someone possibly broke in thinking no one was home because of there being no car there and startled her then no telling what happened after that. If she startled them and then out of reflex they harmed her it's just weird that she's not at least in the house.

Could someone have broke in and kidnapped her and she's being held somewhere similar to the Todd Kohlhepp case? Her bank account supposedly has not been touched according to Laina.

I also hope that whoever saw her and/or interacted with her at the repair shop is at least being checked out.

Oh man this just broke my heart about her black lab on the chair looking scared. I have a 5 year old black lab and she is the friendliest, loviest dog in the world and SO SO attached to us.
I have met some black labs that are more aggressive toward strangers, but mine sure is not. Like Steelslady said she would maybe kiss them to death, but that’s about it.
She does however spook easily at night at ANY little noise, jumps off my bed running around howling and barking and sounding scary. A good deterrent I hope but if someone did come in she’d start thumping her tail and wanting to play.
This lab was probably so loyal and attached to Sandra—she was his whole world, so to see that poor thing traumatized like that definitely makes me think something bad happened in that house.
But it’s also possible that he was just traumatized if she was gone for 2 whole nights and a day—he had no food or water. He could have messed up the bed if he were very upset. I wonder how old he was. Young labs (and some older) can be destructive.

Dogs are an incredible deterrent to stranger violence against its owner. Either passively or actively. Less so in response to someone it knows. Just a general observation.

LE mentioned in an early article (August), that Sandra may have connected with the homeless community.

Perhaps Barbara had opened her home to persons who were homeless?

I agree. I also had a black lab that was the sweetest and loviest - so playful but one time we were traveling through the city-a man approached my car and tried to reach in. Boy did I see a different side of her! She was fast and leaped at him with growls, violent barks and teeth flaring. She did her “job” and went right back to being my sweetheart. Labs are very loyal.

I don't know what to make of that LE comment either, I'm not sure if it really meant that she had specific connections to homeless populations or that it was just something they had to rule out as it's one way a person could "disappear." I would think, though, that her daughter would probably not allow the children to be full time at her house/sleep over, etc if she also knew or suspected transient people would be coming and going. I certainly wouldn't.
