was it an arrest?

Yeh, ,me too-- waiting for some criminal stuff as well , think there will be some who knows DUI maybe , but again not a word

I can grasp needing some time in a mass shooting , but there is nothing.....

and the weekend is coming so its gonna be nothing for a while

Thanks for this. Makes a lot of sense.
I've gotten locked out of bars/clubs after going outside.

I think he was disoriented. Due to drinking and he was not in his home town.

and probably scared as well

posted earlier but where he lives I think was like population 2500 (not typo!) so being lost, bounced, in big city, alone, maybe buzzed, and freezing sounds scary to me ....................

You mean Amanda the cousin posting on that Facebook page? I honestly dont think there was anything there. That 'Heroin Killed My Town' guy has thousands of followers--my perception was that she was trying to get that information in front of as many people as she could.

That was my take too, after being so thrillesd that Fb page worked-- it looked like good stuff actually (not that way guys!)

the organization!!

What bothers me, I'm looking on Google maps and with all of these bars around there didn't ANYBODY see him? Haven't the police put out a public assist to ask anyone to call if they did? And if he did wander to the water and fall in, well Cheese and Crackers can't we get some damn rails up for God sakes. All these towns and cities should be more safety minded. And while I'm *****ing I might as well start a darn petition to make bars legally responsible for the people they pump with booze and then throw in the streets. If this boy died a preventable death (read not foul play) because of A-holes bouncers or waterside with no railings, well I'll just be pizzed.

BROOKLINE (CBS) – Brookline and Boston College police are looking for help in their search for a missing BC student.
Stephen Ziska, a 20-year-old junior from Brooklyn, New York, has not been in contact with his friends or family since late Monday morning.
He was last seen by his roommates when he left his apartment on Strathmore Road in Brookline on May 11 around 11:30 a.m., according to investigators.

So ZM told someone that he was locked out without his coat ... why didn't one of the people he was with at least take his coat to the door? Or, better yet, why didn't they leave then instead of waiting 30 minutes?

You have to stop thinking of wide streets with square angles and open views where a camera monitoring the back loading dock, for instance, also shows who is walking by on the other side. That's just not how Boston is laid out. It's a maze, and even people who are quite familiar with it will take a wrong turn and find themselves in a place they didn't know existed.

So here are some pictures I found on the web. I think they're all public. If you click on them, you can enlarge them.

This is the back of the Bell in Hand looking toward the Union Oyster House, with several other taverns, pubs, and restaurants in the picture.

This is another side street looking toward the Union Oyster House (the biggest landmark). The street from Picture 1 is in the background. Notice the car pulling out from an angle and how similar the two streets are.
UnionOysterHouse.jpg

This is the holocaust memorial, with the Union Oyster House and pub row in the background, and the Public Market building just visible on the left. The Rose Kennedy Memorial Greenway and, um, I think it's Congress Street, is behind the camera.

This is the Boston Public Market. The trees on the right are the end of the Holocaust Memorial. The brick building with the letters on the roof ridge are about where the pubs are located, but I'm not sure which building. Probably the Union Oyster House.

I found this map of the area on a site about the Big Brother TV show. Apparently the Bell in Hand was featured in season 13. Notice in the inset picture you can see the Public Market building in the background. Notice also that the Bell in Hand's building is an odd shape, with a sharply rounded end that fits into a more or less triangular street corner. The pub has entrances on both sides and possibly in the back. If there's a camera on the back door of the Union Oyster House, it would not have a view past that corner.

There probably are, but from other cases I've followed, I know it takes a while to go through them all. And quality of the video is always an issue.

Boston is not as big on cameras as some other places. And the funny angles the streets take can block views.

Hah, found a good one. This shows the Bell in Hand on the left, the Union Bar (part of Union Oyster House) on the right, and the water in the background. It also shows what the streets look like in winter. They were probably clearer when ZM went missing because we haven't had that much snow this year. But still not great.

Whats everyone think of this picture?

https://www.google.com/search?q=zac...AUICSgC&biw=320&bih=460#imgrc=XHNqsN2Eq9hBnM:

is he on his phone? Hard for me to tell but would appear odds are he is.

im now thinking no to the whole suicide thing. why wait those four minutes in the damn cold if you are just looking to end everything?

is he on the phone with someone that is picking him up--whose car is right in front of boston public market to where he's walking? Of course the phone records would reveal those clues.

Does anyone recall when the cousin said she called him and it went to voicemail?

He does appear to be on the phone. There is a car, but all I see are headlights. We have no way of knowing if
this is involved in any way.

hmm i guess anything is possible. he had to cross the street to get there, so i guess depends on how truly messed up he was. my thought was that he might have gone over thinking he could buy smokes there.

Or, he was trying to get out of the cold. He must have been freezing and simply looking for some place to stay warm until he could meet up with his friends and get his jacket.

So Zachary took a train to the bar to meet his cousins. How was he getting home at 2 AM? Do trains run at 2 AM back to Harvard? Maybe he decided to call it a night and go home? If that is me outside in 10 degrees, I am looking for the nearest taxi or Uber. I know he was with a group, but he is leaving soon any way and cold. Maybe he was focused on getting out of there, instead of meetng up with his cousins, once he determined, rightly or wrongly, that he could not get back inside.

YES. When I go out to smoke, I don't stand out in the open for more than a few second. I ALWAYS looked for a sheltered nook, even if it is around the corner out of the wind.
