Found Deceased MA - Zachary Marr, 22, Boston, 13 Feb 2016 #2

  • #121
I know it is difficult, but I do hope they recover his body soon.

I feel so bad for Zach's family. I cant imagine the pain.

I was praying for Zach and his family in church this morning. This verse from the first hymn brought a small measure of comfort...

"There is a rock, a place secure, within the storm's cold blast; concealed within the suffering night God's covenant stands fast"

So did local media say anything about Friday's river search?

Is there no river searching on the weekend?

Logistically, unless caught in something, would a body in the river always eventually make its way down to the locks/dam? Or is it more common to be found along the shore? Is there any way it could end up in the harbor/ocean?

Have any of you heard of any cases where they knew for a fact that the person was in the water, but they never located the body?

  • #125
I know tthey see and deal with a lot of people every single night, but I imagine there is one bouncer in Boston at Bell in Hand who recalls seeing Marr and speaking to him. It'd be interesting to know what he had to say to police and how he feels.

this ^^^^
But unless there is video to support his account, I'd lean toward a CYA.

At this point , gases in the body will make him like a balloon, and he will just blow up to the surface and someone will notice . Forensics at this point destroyed . While the body decompses. it makes ethanol so they will find alcohol ---say intoxicated and close. IMO

If he has violent stuff on him maybe different. Maybe there could be a note in his pocket (suicide) but dont know how long that could be readable

Been in too long, unless there are signs of overt violence, IMO it will go down down the way the rest of em have .... drunk fall in and ignore ..... moo

What I meant was, or to clarify, is there any real barrier to keep a body from moving from the Charles into the Harbor?

If the person went into the water above the Charles River Dam, I think it probably couldn't make it past the dam and locks, but I don't know that for a fact.

Cant stand fox. But least they had something. There was some nuance in it tho. Sounds like they may have actually, through video, trailed him.
Somewhat confusing at one point he said did go in the water, l;ater said may have gone in the water.

At least its an update of sorts I hope his family likes Fox! I am livid about media just not doing a little piece like this nothing really "new" but someone cares

Let us know what you you guys "picked up from it"> First time I heard from police chief, but I liked him during Marathon bombing

The part of the Charles River where ZM apparently went into the water is actually a reservoir (called the Charles River Basin). The water there is quite deep (20-30 feet or more?) and not moving fast at all.

The pattern around Boston, whether in the Charles, one of the other rivers (Mystic, Muddy, Miller's, etc.), or the harbor, is for the body to sink right away, and to stay submerged until the water begins to warm in the spring, when gasses from decomposition will bring it to the surface. But even if it rises to the surface there's no guarantee it will be seen. I think it's been mentioned several times that the water in the harbor and the rivers is very dark and murky, and it's hard to see something more than a foot below the surface.

I can't remember whether there's anybody who is known to have gone into the water in Boston whose body wasn't recovered eventually. It's pretty common for people who are lost at sea or swept off a beach to not be recovered, though.

Hah! They released it in MSM so now I can say it! Yes, I heard last week that they had found quite a lot of video that showed him along the route.

Even if his phone died, how come we have not heard anything about pings??

boy thats depressing i did not know it was that deep. I posted a really intersting thing on drowning last thread and this is bad news.

It said they typically go pretty much stright down unless big current, and I a glad you confimed that it is not moving. I only got 1.5 miles at its fastest the week afterwrds - but 30 feet is deep!

But the refloat is gonna be long huh??? So this is probably gonna end up a two paragraph story on page 8 in half a year that he was found huh?

Iwonder how long they will look?

If ya listen to the Fox thing a few back, they referenced a different place than we all have been talking about , but too tired to check it out !!

sounded like zacomb bridge or something

I doubt if it will be more than a few weeks. The water usually starts to warm up by the end of March.

Intersting:

........the deeper a body sinks the slower is the current actingupon it until it reaches the bottom were it will stay. It is rare that a victim is founddownstream more than a few hundred yards from where it disappeared................

It is true that when the body begins to rise to the surface afterseveral days it may drift a considerable distance from the site of death.

Even in ice water, it takes more than 20 minutes to cool the body core below 35º C (95° F).

In fact, it takes a long time to die of hypothermia.

your heart begins to race, and your blood pressure spikes.

ffects of cold shock normally peak within the first minute and stabilize very soon thereafter.

fter a few minutes, the muscles of your limbs are affected. Neuromuscular activity slows and body fluids literally congeal in the muscles.

ten minutes immersion in very cold water, your arms and legs will no longer respond to your will. Even experienced swimmers have difficulty co-ordinating breathing and swimming strokes; short swims may be impossible.

Any water less than 15[SUP]o[/SUP] C (59[SUP]o[/SUP] F) will trigger these physical reactions, though the colder the water, the more severe the response

http://www.shipwrite.bc.ca/Chilling_truth.htm

..........that the main cause of death from drowning in fresh wateris the explosive dilution of the blood with water from the lungs. This dilutionresulted in rapid failure of the bloods ability to carry oxygen resulting in oxygendeprivation in critical areas and asphyxiation......

Cold water carries heat away from the body 25 times faster than air of the same temperature and as a result

In a very strange way, there is a notion of comfort in knowing how long he walked he would be less aware, so no matter how he got in water,, he would have like less feeling kinda like pre numbed if that makes any sense

I think this might have been posted earlier, but it's worth putting up again: New England Cable News's photos of the Feb. 23 searches. It has some good shots that show where the railroad bridge is relative to the Zakim Bridge and other surrounding landmarks. http://www.necn.com/news/new-englan...g-22-Year-Old-Harvard-Mass-Man-369815431.html

TY! The fifth one broke my heart, for a kid from a tiny town, freezing, cognitve confusion, tired ,in darkness that is a formiddable area of complete and utter confusion
