Madeleine McCann 3 year old missing in Portugal - Part 10

With all due respect - it is nothing like the same thing. Madeleine was 3 years old and did not own a car she could hop into at any time. Nor was she heavily pregnant and could have been in labor at the hospital.

When a 3 year old is not sleeping where they should be, there is EVERY chance she has been taken.

When a 27 year old is not home, there are a MILLION reasons why not, pregnant or otherwise.

If a three year old has been left in an unlocked hotel room where she could easily get out of bed and walk out the door, and on previous nights the child had been screaming for daddy, there certainly is the possibility that she could walk out the door.

Perhaps the mccanns lie because they are too proud to admit that they left their children in a very shady situation.

I can't imagine what the tapas staff has to gain by lying.
Who said the workers lied? They may have told it straight, as they knew it, but the question raised was did they really have much chance to know if they were busy working. To me thats a valid concern.

Brefie said that its possible that the tapas staff was shady and had a reason to lie.

Don't you think the busy wait staff would have noticed all these adults coming and going all night? There was a lot of activity at that table from what has been reported.

Brefie said that its possible that the tapas staff was shady and had a reason to lie.
Yes its possible but I dont think he said they for sure lied. Still, I understand where your post came from in response.

For myself I do not know if the workers lied or were mistaken or were correct. But I do question jumping to the conclusion that one side is more correct than the other as opposed to having actual evidence.

A breath of fresh air!!!! And a lot of common sense.
I completely agree with everything in this post. And I have read all the previous threads.
I see nothing wrong with the parents reactions since Madeleine disapeared.
They seem to be condemned no matter what they do.....or even what they don't do.

April, I think the biggest problem people have with the McCann's is their behavior BEFORE Madeleine disappeared. Having dinner in the garden while your children sleep in the home is a far different cry from being across the street in a resort that is enclosed behind a wall, or from some of the latest reports, across town. As a parent, I just cannot understand it. I am sure the McCann's wish they had done things differently, but as a society, we must deal with the facts as we currently know them to be. I think people also have a natural tendancy to look at patterns, and in the case of the McCann's there appears to be a pattern of casual and dangerous abandonment of their children. This pattern of behavior results in a subliminal distrust, which colors all of their future behavior.

Can someone do a better translation??Sorry this one is the best I can do from Babel Fish.

I can try. This is my attempt at further translation of the Babel Fish translation, not straight from Portugese to English.

The JP will reinterview some witnesses net week in order to clarify situations. One of the witnesses is the British woman Pamela Fenn, 70 years old, who lives alone in an apartment situated above the one where Madeleine McCann disappeared while vacationing with her family.

Shortly after 10:00 (not sure if have that right) on May 3rd, she heard all the noise and commotion when more than 2 sets of 10 people were searching for Madeleine and she offered the use of her telephone to call police. Kate McCann refused the aid, saying to her, " No need, we have already telephoned, now we are waiting for them (? Not sure of the last part of the quote)." This was after Kate had confirmed that her daughter was missing. However the dissapearance was not reported to police until 40 minutes later.

Pamela Fenn recalled to neighbors that on April 1st between 10:30 and 11:45 she had heard a child in that apartment calling out in distress, "Daddy!" During this time, the McCann couple would be having dinner together at a restaurant.

"I do not speak to journalists", was her only comment when contacted by the DN.

Three weeks before the disappearance of Madeleine, a man who resembled the suspect abductor sketch attempted to assault Pamela Fenn in her apartment, recounted her niece to the British police. (I think the next part is about a Peeping Tom looking into windows, so maybe it's not an actual assault.)

Pamela Feen will be interviewed Monday in the Department of Criminal Inquiry of Portmao of the PJ. The associate national director of the responsible PJ and for the Directria de Faro, Guihermino INcarnation, confirmed to the DN that he foresees other interviews in the next week where new lines of questioning may come up. He appealed to the 10 sets of journalist from other countries not to disturb (?) the PJ saying it is not that such disrupts the investigation but does not help...

I think the jist translates like this:

The Judicial Police is going to come back next week to interview several witnesses about the Madeleine case in order to clarify testimony. One of those witnesses is a British women named Pamela Fenn, 70 years old, who lives alone in an apartment situated over the rooms from where Madeleine McCann disappeared in the Ocean Club Resort in Praia da Luz, where the girl vacationed with her family.

Around 11:00 pm on May 3 she noticed a lot of noise and commotion downstairs when 20 people were searching for Madeleine. She spoke to Kate McCann, the child’s mother, and offered to contact the police. But KM refused the help, saying “Thank you, but no, we have already telephoned. We are searching for her now.” This was after Kate said that Madeleine was missing. However, the disappearance of the girl resulted in the NGR (local police) getting involved by 11:40 that night.

On the other hand, according to information collected by the DN (the newspaper writing the article), Pamela Fenn told friends in Praia da Luz that one day in April, "between 10:30 and 11:45” she heard a child in that apartment cry distressingly, “Daddy, daddy! I’m hungry. I’m hungry." At that time, the McCann couple were eating dinner in a restaurant next to the Praia da Luz church. When contacted by the DN yesterday, she (Pamela Fenn) said she was told "Do not speak with journalists", which limited what she can disclose.

Three weeks before the disappearance of Madeleine, Pamela Fenn was the victim of a robbery by a man that was later identified as having the same characteristics of the man in the drawing of a suspect in the abduction of Maddie, said a niece of Pamela to the English police. The young woman, in the middle of her vacation in Praia da Luz, and staying at home of her aunt, noticed that "a man was walking around checking out the apartments". Pamela Fenn will be interviewed on Monday, in the Department of Criminal Inquiry of Portimão of the PJ.

The national director assistant of the PJ and responsible for the (Management of Smell??), Guilhermino Incarnation, confirmed to the DN that they will be listening to “other testimony” next week, and new inquiries might be made. The director took advantage of this interview to appeal for "serenity and calm" in the "Madeleine case", in light of the journalists from several countries camped out in Portimão and Praia da Luz. "They are not disturbing the investigation. But they aren’t helping either,” he said.

I believe the McCanns reputation has been tainted for their actions before Madelaine went missing as Reannan said. If it was a one off, then I would probably not criticise the McCanns actions as much and give them the benefit of the doubt, but it has happened on numerous occasions, you do whatever you can to keep your children out of danger, not put them in positions where danger or harm can come to the children, that is just plain logic and commonsense, I for one have never and would never leave my children alone unsupervised in an unlocked room and in a foreign country as many other parents posting here Im sure would not do either.
IMO the parents are at fault, and IMO are involved with the disappearance of Madelaine.

I agree Reannon, Its because they left the children. They are being condemned because of what happened BEFORE Madeleine disappeared.
I don't see anything wrong with what they have tried to do since to find Madeleine. But they are being condemned for everything and anything now. It doesn't have to have any merit.
And so until it's proven differently I will not add to their pain. Certainly not on rumor.
Or as a high ranking Portugese police officer recently admitted has happend, and which he condemned, the misinformation which some of his officers who don't know the facts of the case, have been feeding the Portugese press.

Hey there! (I am a 'she' btw :D)

Yes, I was just covering all scenarios re: dinner.

I gotta tell you, I STILL don't see anything that tells me that no-one got up from dinner. Can anyone link that? OR tell me who said it or how it was reported?

TIA.

SewingDeb & CaliKid Thank you!! Both of your translations were great! Much better than that babel fish.

Thanks again!:blowkiss:

Could it be because they caused this whole thing by leaving their children alone?????

<<I agree Reannon, Its because they left the children. They are being condemned because of what happened BEFORE Madeleine disappeared. >>

No, it's both...It's the statements "We were only eating in the garden" when in fact the garden was more than a football field away (with a pool in between).

It's the constant solicitation of funds...the lack of a private investigator funded by such funds...the constant travel and publicity tour while not traveling to places where there were significant sightings at the time of those sitings (Morocco, Belgium).

One of the grandparents is still in England collecting money at a fair booth...If they have that time on their hands, why sit and collect money instead of flying to Portugal and watching the twins?

What is the money going to do for them if it's not being used to find Madeleine? The money is not in a charitable fund, we can only presume is is the Gerry and Kate legal defense fund.

Not a good reason to blame them for everything and anything other than leaving the children alone.
Whoever took Madeleine is the culprit and none of us as yet know who did that.

If cadaver dogs are hitting on the room, you can't blame anyone for suspecting the parents.

Sorry, I disagree strongly. Everything that came after they left their children at the mercy whomever took her is their fault.
