This is what I think... lol

It looks like it's a scan from a pic from the 70's. I haven't seen a European woman dress like that since then. Also it's too pixellated. I strongly disbelieve this is a recent picture, let alone a picture that has anything to do with Madeleine. The site it is on is a useraccount website about geneology (sp).

Yes and pictures in newspapers these days are not that pixellated. This looks old in many ways. And believe me, if this was a picture that was taken of a find by the Telegraaf journalists, it would be plastered all over the paper's site. It isn't. (www.telegraaf.nl) Plus if this towel was found today there is no way it would already be in print in a newspaper, ready to be scanned. I'm willing to bet good money that this picture is a hoax.

I think it is a very dated pic Shazz..as JanetElaine has posted the pic looks like something from the 70s......but Im not into the latest fashions so Im not sure whether THAT look is back in.

And who would wear those kind of shoes to go out in rugged rocky area to 'dig' for evidence?

When Natalie Holloway went missing in Aruba didn't they bring in equipment that scanned the surface for a body buried beneath the sand? I wonder why they don't use something like that to see if Madeleine is there.

My thought is that the PPolice don't want to find her or they have their own idea of what happened.

I could not believe the many articles that were published this morning about how one PP officer said it would take 100 searchers, then FINALLY a report that 7, mind you 7, spent 1 hour and 20 minutes walking around the site. What is this? Where do these guys get their training.

It is no wonder the journalists decided to search themselves and bring in their own dogs.

Absolutely unbelievable!:furious:

Thanks for bringing that here colomom. I also read another article that says that the journalists got together and they hired a sniffer dog team because the police weren't. I don't understand the McCann's wanting to quash a search, their complaints early on were that the police weren't searching. What is up with them? Like these towels represent, there could be evidence there, if not her body. If this person sending the letters is a psychic they are apparently good and not out for personal fame.

CarpeDiem - I so agree with you.

Although, I will say when I first read about the McCann's being upset, I took it to mean they were upset with the non-law enforcement "diggers" but the truth of the matter is that if there were no "non-law enforcement" diggers - there would have been no search!

I do not understand what is going on here. I know that LE likes to hold things back, but this is rediculous (sp)

I'm being to believe that the PP are involved or do not want to find the perp!

Salem

PS - you guys sure were busy today

The more we hear about this case the weirder it gets, I cannot for the life of me understand why the LE are not doing a more thorough search, I think they know more then leading us to believe.

What time is it there now. Are they waiting for the sun to come up to do a search. I know I have been hard on the parents in the past but if she is there... I would be there with a flash light digging with my bare hands if it were my child just so I would know my child was not out there in the open like that

The Algarve is 6 hours ahead of EST.

This is a link that refers to the letter sent to the Newspaper describing where they can find Madelaines body.

I cannot believe the parents being angry and upset that this letter was sent to the media before being checked if it was authentic by the police.
I would want the police to follow any lead whether it could be a hoax or not. They have nothing else to go off at the moment,so every bit of information they receive should be followed up.

This is just another reason why the parents behaviour does not sit well with me.

Scrubland Search For Madeleine Ends

Why would they finish searching now, surely they couldnt have done a thorough search, I also read somewhere that sniffer dogs were being brought in as well, but have heard no more about that. What the hell is going on. Why is this case stalling. I am getting so frustrated with the lack of investigation, and communication, are we be kept in the dark.

I think this is unfair. My interpretation is that Gerry McCann is saying the publication of the letter is what has disappointed them. I can understand that. What parent want people speculating on where their dead childs body may be? If she is there and pictures of video are taken, the whole world will see it. I wouldn't want the whole world watching the remains of my daughter be discovered. If you recall, when Laci and Connor's bodies washed ashore Sharon Rocha also asked for people to remember this wasn't just a news story but her daughter and grandson. I think Gerry McCann is just asking for the same thing.

This is the sort of thing I have a real problem with:-

http://news.sky.com/skynews/picture_gallery/0,,91210-1267634,00.html

Do these people really look like the parents of a child that could be in the hands of a paedophile?........

There's nothing anyone can say to me that will excuse the joy on that mothers face - whilst her daughter could be out there being raped or God knows what else, as far as I'm concerned if you can 'court' the media in this way (and were probably paid handsomely for it) having the same media present when the discovered remains of their gross negligence (or direct involvement) is a nothing compared to the suffering of their poor precious daughter.[/QUOTE]

TO be fair, I have to agree with you here.

Another pic of the said 'towel' ... this is a better view with other people in it...
http://www.telegraaf.nl/buitenland/65604861/Zoektocht_met_speurhonden_na_tip_Maddie.html?p=6,1

Here's a snippet translation out of that article about the 'towel' "

"The report donors had already earlier in the area where the tip will be looked around concerning and a towel sees lying. These place have been indicated to the Portuguese police force. The doek has been taken along for research..."

If you go to the Sky blog you can read what they say about it... If you need a link to that LMK

They called that a search?!?!?! OMG! NO WAY! I am glad at least the journalists are taking it seriously by continuing to search and hire dogs, etc. I am horrified they handled what could be such a credible lead this way! The last letter about the Beligian girls was so accurate and they never would have found them without it. It was only off by a tiny bit on location. Pretty great lead I would say.

I don't think it looks old at all. The woman might be wearing clothing we wouldn't wear (it IS Portugal!), but the two men in the photo appear to be wearing clothes and have accessories which are consistent with today. http://www.telegraaf.nl/buitenland/6...die.html?p=6,1

They make Aruba look good. That's bad. :banghead:

Why aren't the McCann's hiring dogs, hiring volunteers, spending the million people have donated on SEARCHING.

It it is a legit piece of evidence.. and I think anything found there would be.. then I think they are handeling it poorly. Any hair fibers could fall off the way she is holding up like that!

From the caption on picture #10 at Sky News Pictures:
"We are hoping to see a child psychologist next week to help us explain what has happened to Madeleine to the twins."
While I'm glad to hear they're bringing in a professional to help them explain to the twins about Maddie, I'm wondering why they haven't done that before now? What have they been telling the twins when they ask where Maddie is now???

- - - - - - - - - - - - - -

As for the pictures, I know everyone links to the following one when questioning how the parents can appear so happy at a time like this...
630kns1.jpg

But I found another one that is just as curious (to me, at least). In the above picture, you can tell they're posing and doing something extra fun with the kids, but in the picture below, all they're doing is walking along a wooden bridge and look at how "comfortable" and "normal" they appear.
4qdzmuu.jpg

I know they can't walk around with frowns all day long, I know they have to be strong for the twins, but I can't see an ounce of strain or sadness or anything in their faces...

Pics from Sky News Pictures

Now, another thing that just dawned on me -

Scenario #1 - someone abducted your child, they could be torturing your child or they could've already killed your child.

Scenario #2 - you accidentally killed your child and covered up the murder, making it appear as if it was a stranger abduction.

Either scenario - you would be devastated, obviously.

** Scenario #1 - you would have more fear of not knowing if your child is out there being abused, or if they've already been killed. I can't imagine the "not knowing", I can't imagine how you wouldn't constantly be thinking the worst, whether they're still alive and being harmed, or whether they're already dead, either way it's the worst!!! You would want every tip followed, you would want to find your child, no matter what the outcome.

** Scenario #2 - you would feel more guilt than fear. You would already know that your child is gone and not coming back, you would not have to "wonder" what is happening to your child. You would have a tremendous amount of guilt and possibly anger at the other spouse. You would be worried that the police WILL find her, because it could be linked back to you.

I can't figure out which scenario fits this case. The McCann's have done everything to stay in the media, so it appears that they DO want their child to be found. I think maybe I'm being too harsh in my judgment of their "appearances" at these outings. It's so hard to say.
