Okay, I have no problem sharing what I think, but there are some inconsistencies I haven't ironed out yet and you're going to have to forgive me for a very long post. But I just have to get this out.
1) Stranger abduction- probable. Especially if a pedophile/black market adoption arranger was watching the resort and happened to notice that the McCanns went out every night and left their children alone behind an unlocked door. All he/she would have to do is observe that the party members (all 8 adults) weren't regularly checking on the children and time the abduction to maximum advantage- early in the evening when there would be lots of time before the alarm is sounded. Some people have even speculated that the McCanns were targeted by an angry ex-patient, but I kind of doubt it. If this is what happened, the McCanns through their own neglect, pretty much handed their daughter to the kidnapper on a silver platter.
2) Madeleine wandered off- maybe but unlikely. I don't doubt that she might have waken up and left the apartment looking for her parents, but where is she if this happened? The chances of her wandering off and then meeting a pedophile or kidnapper are kind of slim. Like really, what would the odds be? And if she hurt herself or drowned, where is her body?
3) My 3rd theory, that something happened in the McCann's apartment before they went out to dinner, becomes more believable to me as time passes. I was at first leaning toward her doctor parents giving the children (or maybe just Madeleine) something to sedate them at night because there are reports that she had been heard crying for Mommy and Daddy on at least one other occasion. I kind of felt that the McCanns didn't want to deal with a scared child while they were supposed to be eating with friends, and using a drug on them took care of the problem but Madeleine overdosed. But then I realized that unless they put their kids to bed really early it didn't give them enough time to take care of disposing of her body and setting up the kidnap scenario.
So that leaves some kind of accidental death during the day. Nobody has said when Madeleine was last seen by anybody other than her parents or what their movements were prior to leaving for dinner. So it's possible that one of the McCanns did something and accidentally caused her death, and the claims of the kidnapping is a cover-up. My opinion is based on the weird behavior of the McCanns since Madeleine disappeared and their quickly-changing stories.
a. Someone broke in through a jimmied door and window turned into we left the patio door unlocked.
b. We were checking on the children every 30 minutes became one of us walked up to the apartment and listened at the door became ... (only after restaurant employees claimed nobody in the party left their table for two hours did we find out they weren't eyeballing them regularly). And then all of a sudden a couple weeks later one of the guests in their party "remembers" that he/she saw a suspicious someone carrying a child wearing pajamas and wrapped in a blanket when he/she was rushing to join the other adults.
c. Kate McCann's screams to GM at 10:00 that "They took her", as she raced back to the restaurant without the twins. Like if she suspected that someone had kidnapped one of her children, why would she leave the other two alone? And who is "they"?
d. Even the fact that all of the McCanns' friends trouped through the apartment before the police arrived is suspect. These are supposed to be a bunch of doctors whom we can reasonably assume are intelligent people, and surely one of them should've thought about contaminating a potential crime scene.
e. Add to the fact that absolutely nothing has been said by any of the couples who went to Portugal with the McCanns in their defense, and it makes me really suspicious of a conspiracy.
f. Forgive me for thinking this, but the McCanns don't act like grieving parents. At first they were all torn up, but even if they are personally responsible for Madeleine's death, they still loved her and miss her. They could've been reacting to guilt too. But within about two weeks their grief seemed to disappear, and I don't think it was just to put on a brave face for Sean and Amelie. Look at the face of Beth Twitty, Natalee Holloway's mother, if you want to see what a grieving mother looks like. She has aged about 10 years in the last two.
g. The McCanns have spent the past month flitting all over Europe. I don't fault them for meeting the Pope and making dignitaries aware of Madeleine, but they are not searching for her. GM blogs about their day, and it sounds like a non-ending vacation of jogs, going places with the twins and getting their photos taken. Why haven't they hired private investigators to painstakingly go through evidence and check out rumors of pedophile activity? Why are they poo-pooing sightings of her in Malta? Is it because they know beyond a shadow of a doubt that she isn't there?
i. Within the first three weeks there was a lot of talk about various perps, potential sightings, etc. Robert Murat and his friends were questioned, his home and vehicles searched, etc. The last we heard the Portuguese LE were waiting for DNA results. But since then- nothing. I know they handle things differently there, but you'd assume that the McCanns would be saying something if Murat had become a viable suspect. And Murat would be crowing to the world if he was exonerated. According to the woman who thinks she saw Madeleine nine days after she disappeared, she still hasn't even been questioned by Portuguese LE about what she saw. And in the meantime, the McCanns and their supporters keep throwing accusations of incompetency about the P-LE around.
j. It appears as if the McCanns are turning Madeleine's disappearance into a huge money-making machine with no accountability on how the money is spent or whether they have to give the remaining back if she's found. GM seems to spend a huge amount of time talking to funding officers about various events that really don't seem to have much to do with finding her. I have even seen rumors on the internet that the McCanns are paying off the mortgage on their home with part of the fund.
k. Instead of returning to England and giving their twins a sense of normalcy and spending time with them, they look like they're staying in Portugal indefinitely. It makes me wonder if they're afraid to go back to the UK because of turning public opinion of them or if they've been told to stay in Portugal by LE because they're suspects. Nobody knows.
l. There seems to be a complete black-out of all questions about the McCanns' behavior at a very high level in the UK government. They have a government liaison to handle the media, and nobody is allowed to criticize them. Demands for an investigation about potential neglect are being ignored and hushed up. The whole thing stinks.
