I posted this on the Mirror boards and wanted to share it with you as I head off to watch Last Comic Standing with my most amazing and patience husband....

I feel it very strongly in myself that if anything happened to my children (both under 11 years) especially if it involved violence and most especially if I did not know what happened to them....I would be done for.

I often wonder if I would be able to be strong for the remaining child and I truly believe that I would have to make sure they would be cared for and then...I'm checking out. I absolutely could not live with the thought that my child might be in the hands of evil.

These thoughts just floor me, they destroy me. And they are just thoughts. Those kiddos are in the next room happily playing. And I am crying...

I could never understand how the McCanns could be so....stoic. I never could and I never will, understand.

I am still trying not to be judgmental but, if I find out that the McCanns have lied and played with my deepest fears and made me afraid to let go of my daughter when we go out and made me cry for weeks on end and created a suspicion in my mind about parents with lost children....then God help them because I am not alone and they will know the force of the anger of millions...I would not want to be them....

I wish you all a peaceful good night...

:blowkiss:

Very nice post colomom :) I also read it on the mirror forum.

This is from the comments section of Aussie Mike's blog:

http://ionglobaltrends.blogspot.com/2007/08/mccanns-theres-something-about-kate-and.html
This woman is responding to a request from someone in the UK asking what the Portuguese think of the McCanns. Her answer, which is slightly more than half-way down the page (time- 7:33 pm) brings up some interesting points, and I wonder if anyone has seen the picture she's talking about.

Very interesting read, both the blog and the comments.

Dorthee asked "I would also like to know how the Portuguese people put up with this whole mess created by tourists. What do they really think of the McCanns?"

I'm qualified to answer that as I'm Portuguese and live in Portugal. I can speak for myself and everyone I know -- we can't stand them and have always been suspicious of all they do and say.

Someone else mentioned the polices long lunches and that's completely normal and most drink with lunch. One thing that people here LIVE for are holidays...there's nothing bigger and that the police gave up theirs says a lot!

The money for their tireless and thankless work is paid by we the taxpayers and this is the poorest country in the EU. You'd think 'the Fund' would help out.

All the Brit papers keep quoting Portuguese news and they don't get it right. I don't know how they're translating what's written into English, but they sure muck up the information.

I have a friend with a site who can check her stats and she messaged me today and said almost all the searches were for "Mccanns swingers". I wouldn't doubt it.

One man, a respected attorney here, is disturbed by the picture of Madeleine in full make-up, looking like pedophile bait, and he said, "something evil has happened" and went on to say that the parents and friends seems evil, too, and for me to use my imagination about what could have really happened.

That picture has bothered me from the beginning. Why would they show her in that way? This is all so confusing I think I'll stop writing.

This case is beginning to look like a cross between Danielle Van Dam and Jon Benet Ramsey.

What picture are they referring to?

That person is a little forked, I mean really. I've never, ever seen a pic of Maddie that looks like she wore make-up, she wasn't a girly-girl in personality either, it seems she was more sporty, like her Mom. Perhaps they are thinking of Jon Benet. Were they drunk? LOL

I don't remember seeing any pictures like that either. I guess we could start searching through the internet, but everything I've seen makes her look like a normal little girl.

Here's something else from the same blog, a little further down in the comments: There is also information about what the mother of the British girl, Kate McCann, said when she noticed the absence of her daughter. It was reported that she said ‘They’ve taken her’. A tourist who was nearby says she heard the screams of Madeleine’s mother, heard her say ‘We’ve failed’. In the following days, the parents and friends of the couple gave contradictory statements to the police which gave rise to doubts about the theory of kidnapping.

Failed at what? Resusitating her?

Has anyone seen any reliable information about what happened with the twins the night Kate discovered Madeleine missing? I am still unclear if Kate entered the room, found Madeleine missing, and then did.....what? Did she start screaming and stay in the room looking in closets, etc., or did she run screaming from the room back to the Tapas bar? Who took the twins while the search started? Have the twins been intereviewed at all??? I realize it is hard to interview children that young, but surely, they would be able to talk about the day they had shared with Madeleine, getting ready for bed, etc.....

I bed that guy is talking about this picture:

Madeleine is beautiful, and just naturally looks like she is wearing make-up.

From all accounts, KM left the twins in the room alone after discovering Madeleine "gone". This was discussed extensively in one of the last threads. What normal mom, returning to a holiday apartment and finding her 3 year old daughter missing, would leave the other two babies alone? If someone really kidnapped her, KM had no idea if the person was still lingering about, waiting for an opportunity to take the twins. A normal mom would've grabbed the children and taken them back with her, called on the phone for help or stood screaming bloody murder in the apartment.

As far as the pictures go, I received an answer already. A photographer named Lou created a Madeleine website- http://findmadeleine.blogspot.com/
According to people who saw the site in its early days, the McCanns supplied a lot of pictures. These included some that were personal family shots that might, from a stranger's point of view, looked as though they were sexualizing Madeleine. The pictures were removed from the site. She is such a beautiful little girl.

While makeup on little ones is not my cup of tea, I'll certainly not pass judgement here. I often take naked pictures of my son and dont' think twice about it. i'm sure some people would think there was something wrong with that.

We've probably all done something similar, Beth. I remember when my sons were 8 and 4, and they decided it would be fun to put on their sisters' clothes. It was an easy jump to make them up in lipstick and eyeshadow, and we took lots of photos because it was cute and funny. But if one of the boys had turned up missing, those pictures wouldn't have been ones I'd hand over to be put on an internet search site.

The latest from DIÁRIO DE NOTÍCIAS- translated copy, dated today Aug. 9.

POLICIA JUDICIÁRIA CALLED THE MC CANN TO BE INTERROGATED

PJ wants to put clear some contradictory versions

The Policia Judiciária, being sure of Maddie´s death in the apartment in Praia da Luz, where she was holidaying with her family, newly interrogated the parents. The questioning lasted one hour, followed by a new one of half an hour at the DIC (Criminal Investigation Department).

According to a source next to the police, the aim of the questioning was to put clear some discrepancies regarding the statements of the McCann when the child disappeared on the 3rd of May. The investigators grilled again the couple on how, with whom and where they spent the few hours previous to the disappearance of Madeleine.

This meeting was completely different from the weekly meetings the McCanns used to have with the PJ in the British Consulate of Portimão. Those meetings normally take place on thursday, with the PJ second national boss, Guilhermo Encarnação. The aim is to inform on the investigation, the couple never lacking of praising it in front of the media.

Yesterday nevertheless it was all about putting clear some increasing uncertainties related to the close family circle of the McCann.

Gerry and Kate went off at 17:20 in the car they have been using in the Algarve, and which was investigated on last monday and tuesday.

For the record, in the afternoon of the 4th of May, after having interrogated the McCanns and witnesses holidaying in the resort, the police was already doubtful about the abduction theory produced by Madeleine´s parents, as the DN reported at that time.

....

Blood sent to Birmingham to security reasons
The blood withdrawn from the apartment from where Maddie disappeared has been sent to Birmingham, since there are no reliable technical means in Portugal for this kind of examination, according to a source next to the police. The Portuguese forensic techniques are so old they could destroyed the information contained in the samples.

The researches at the seaside, with the dogs of the british police, inexplicably ceased yesterday, even if the British policemen were in touch with a specialist of the Algarve University regarding the dynamics of the sea tides.

Meanwhile, the McCanns have a new spokesman, the third one since Madeleine has disappeared. David Hugs replaces Justine McGill, with whom the couple was not satisfied.

Hmmm, I wonder why the McCanns weren't pleased with Justine McGill. Could it be that they expected her to shield them from the media glare when the tide turned?

Thanks for the artcile Cali.. And once again it is stated as fact ..
"The Policia Judiciária, being sure of Maddie´s death in the apartment in Praia da Luz"...
and not speculation. They HAVE to have something or KNOW something to be so certain.

 I didn't see that coming.

I would like to see interviews with the other two spokespersons. Hmmmm...

Yep, that's where it is truly unbelievable what happened. Of all the things they/Kate did that night, that is strike three for me.
