Specifically stinking of petrol?

I recall a strong smell from both this guy and Cooperman but the only person renowned for stinking of petrol is CB.

From what you say, how can they all be the same perp?
Oh I don’t believe it’s one perp. It was a big paradise.

Really, unfortunately, I don’t think it’s any worse then anywhere else.

In Orange, NSW, there were 93 sexual assaults in 2020 and 74 in Dubbo - at a rough guess, these towns have populations of 50k - see first link.

The second link shows the stats for NSW in 2006. There were 7,000 and only a 10% conviction rate.

I think it's worth pointing out that the CSA offences which CB has either been convicted of or for which charges are pending all occurred in the open air.
And most, if not all, were likely unplanned impulsive acts - this is certainly true of the beach and playground offences in Portugal.

What trial?

What duty does a lawyer have towards his or her clients?

In Germany, every defendant has the right to a defence lawyer. The lawyer has an obligation to represent the interests of his or her client. In a defence case before a criminal court, for example, this means achieving the mildest possible verdict or, at best, an acquittal – even if the lawyer is aware of the client’s guilt. The lawyer is not allowed to lie to achieve this, but can remain silent about the facts.

Which quality is especially important in a lawyer?
Empathy! If you want to advise and defend your clients properly, you must not only have a complete understanding of the case in hand, but also be able to put yourself in their life situation.

No trial in particular - rather following a code of conduct. The bit about 'empathy' tickled me a bit when I remember FF's comment about trusting CB to look after his dog but certainly not his daughter!

Oh I don’t doubt sexual assault is a reality everywhere, of course it is. There are a few notorious crimes of missing children in in Australia, CG and the Beaumont children come to mind.

But I’m not aware of multiple intruder assaults of children in one location in Australia let alone NSW. It was a very particular Santa Carla culture in which CB and indeed others lived their transient lives. My own thoughts.

His errant character seems to involve silly but also meticulous acts. IMO ones do not ignore and preclude the others.

<modsnip: Quoted post was removed>

I can’t change all of the individual pieces of information that strongly suggest CB was at the OC. It isn’t a stretch to connect those dots, but it does seem like a lot of effort & a big reach to try to avoid them. A lot of what we all discuss is a matter of opinion &/or an interpretation of the open source information we have. That won’t change regardless of what we think about the other persons reasoning.
My logic is that the simplest hypothesis is the right one. <modsnip: referenced info was removed>

Snip
CB was seen with a blond man the night he was arrested for allegedly exposing himself to four children, aged eight to 12, in a park in 2017.
The German, 43, had been spotted ahead of the incident with a male companion of similar height as they attended a festival in the village of Messines, according to police sources.

The pair then went to the children's play area where CB is said to have hidden under a slide with his trousers round his knees.

An off-duty female police woman is thought to have challenged him before trying to keep the situation under control as four parents tried to rush toward him.
A source said: 'She called for back-up.

Witnesses said a second man fled the scene.'

It is thought that the descriptions of Brueckner and his companion are similar to those involved in MM's disappearance in 2007.

I think the majority of the crimes committed by CB were planned in advance. He slipped up a bit at the above described incident though when only the presence of the police witness who made the arrest probably saved him from serious injury.
Bet he was never so glad to be arrested.

I thought only four of the break-ins were asssults. Multiple offenders over several years over a fairly wide geography and mostly just weird break-ins without assaults. I would be surprised if similar crimes were connected in Sydney let alone reported on in the news.

Majority?

He planned to physically assault his girlfriend in daylight at a bus stop?

Strip naked on a beach and expose himself?

Diesel theft?

The other park incidents?

DM’s rape was no doubt planned but IMO, that’s about it for his convictions.

Caveat it originated from a red top.

Detectives who scoured Portuguese lake in hunt for Madeleine McCann say there is 'no compelling evidence' that she is there

I’m struggling to find even a snippet of information in this article that we haven’t already read in the last few weeks…?

were these 93 sexual assaults against young girls out of interest? Not that it is remotely relevant to what was going on in PdL circa 2007 of course

you are comparing apple with oranges there. The population of Sydney is over 5 million compared to the entire population of the Algarve at under half a million.

You had me at ‘weird break-ins.’

That is the abnormal point.

I think all that stuff is best seen as an investigative lead. Find the person who is doing those break ins and perhaps you find your abductor. But we are kind of past that point now.

It would help if they can pin burglaries, especially at OC, to the suspect. But they kind of have that already with the rape conviction in terms of a predatory break in.

One wonders whether Helge B (or one of the others) has evidence in that regard? Break ins they did together?

We will never know how many break ins there were. Just as we will never know how many children were abused as a result.

I'm not even sure if anyone in authority investigated whether or not there could have been any connection to the disappearance of a little blonde girl from her bed in a room where the only trace evidence was an open window.

The first time the break ins and assaults were mentioned in connection with MM was in 2013 at the launch of Operation Grange.

They really should have been looked at long before that when people such as EM and other burglars were a known presence and available to be questioned regarding their own activities and those others of the Luz criminal fraternity they may have been aware of.
My opinion

There is evidence that two blonde men were together and in the vicinity prior to MM's disappearance. Some witnesses such as the sisters, CT and TS got a very good look at them.

As far as I know they were never eliminated.

As far as those of CB's criminal associates who have since spoken to police two thoughts arise
a) before speaking to the police they will have made sure they had a cast iron verifiable alibi for their own whereabouts on the 3rd - or they just would not have come forward
b) coming from such a source the police will have checked out all such informants to the .nth degree

Did any of them ever say they had 'worked' with CB? I don't think any did.
