What happened - and it did happen - is precisely what police don’t want. They want to form a theory from individual witness accounts. In this case, they received a group theory that may or may not have been influenced by dominant members of the group. Given the risk of prosecution by having left their children unattended, it’s easy to understand the motivation.

We are not going to agree on this and I’m okay with that. But, IMO, collusion between the group is so obvious, I’m troubled that I have to state it.

The S family were at Dolphins restaurant, then at Kelly's bar, and then went to Hotel walking Rua da Escola Primaria and crossing Rua 25 de Abril, where they saw the man with a child.

The abductor initially had three choices. 1. Towards Tapas bar entrance. Unlikely. 2. Towards West climbing to Primero de Maio avenue, and meet some traffic there. Unlikely. 3. To the East, as JT said, to enter the walker passages, and then to the Southwest doing a round trip. S family sighting 700 meters from there.

I struggle to understand why an abductor would first walk east if his destination was southwest.

Perhaps the met have more of an understanding, they don’t think the sighting is credible.

It is hard to explain how JT walked past GM and JW (Jez?) without being seen and why JT was walking in the opposite direction to Tannerman.

These things have been discussed ad infinitum and I have no interest in going over it again.

Safe to say, I think the sighting has many issues and some of those are not resolved by OG’s dismissal of the sighting as irrelevant.

Waiters at OC did not have the need to know the OC apartments to do their job. OC was not a closed resort. It was scattered throughout PdL. That is why HCW is not clear when he says close to the Ocean Club.

But employees do have access to locations throughout their employment as part of their duties… run this up to room 5A for me please!

Above anything else, I believe CB was a prolific and very competent burglar. I can’t take it seriously that he would commit to surveillance on 5A to steal a camera - he didn’t need to!

I read that burglars tend to park their vehicles in relatively close proximity but not typically within view of the places they’re targeting. IMO the abduction wasn’t premeditated, so whatever his pattern was (up until the abduction) would have been very similar to how it was on the other recent occasions he was out stealing, imo

IMO it was well planned. I think it was, days before near the apartment lurking around, watching parent's routine. Even if with some luck, no trace. Also the way we wrote his strange letters, strange questions. I really can't see as unplanned or planned for a robbery then escalated. Also time window was too short for that.

Do you think he could have headed west on R.Dr.Agostinho da Silva ... then crossed R.1° de Maio ... onto R.da Escola Primaria ?

Maybe deviate, avoid eyes on him first, to get "far" from OC, then get into the flow and dilute attention?! Even though being Smithman wasn't too risky to be likely?! And how he can then get away easily to a secondary road? I would see he avoiding any option of potential police presence.

Look into to your rear view mirror when driving and see a police car; you drive more correctly for the fear of getting pulled over.

No matter who you are, carrying a stolen child, the first thought is to reach a safe place avoiding being caught. The consequences are high as us the loss of reward.

IMO, the exit route for Smithman is out of 5A patio doors, turn right and right again along the pathway in front of the apartment buildings, right into the car park and the over the road to primary school street.

It’s direct and meets the requirements of someone wanting to avoid danger.

I do not think CB is stupid but I do know there is evidence that he goes on jobs for which he has made thorough preparation.

• He wore a mask at DM's rape
• he 'blindfolded her with painted swimming goggles brought with him
• he carried weapons
• he carried a video camera which he used to record events
• he passed her villa frequently on the way to and from his residence to the beach
• he was familiar enough with it to know she had a cat which he tried to blame for leaving his forensic evidence on the bed
• no one knew of CB's existence until evidence relating to MM was passed to the police in 2017

No. IMO he crossed R. 1 de Maio heading West on R. Ramalhete, then R. da Escola Primaria toward R. 25 de Abril. He left R. Agostinho da Silva asap. Round trips are a good escape strategy.
