No, but they seem to have had a fairly closed mind, if the Daily Mail article quoted above is to be relid on.
Understandable in that without a German suspect, they have no role to play, but they were supposed to look for evidence to exonerate CB as regards MM.

Indeed at the beginning they were supposed to be searching 21 plots of land and they only focused on 3, with one of the derelict farmhouses being searched for 2 days...

He is showing his expertise in detective work by finding that at the end of three days digging the policemen ended with beers… and that means they found the body.

For those of you thinking that there are photos incriminating CB for a crime against MM, would he really write the below if there was any chance of photos being found?

He is quite clear in this letter that the case will be dropped. Does he know they will find no evidence because there is no evidence against him?

"Is there DNA evidence of me at the crime scene? Are there DNA traces of the injured party in my vehicle? Are there other traces/DNA carriers of the injured party in my possession? Photos? And, don't forget, is there a body/corpse? All no, no no."

IMO exactly his checklist of elimination. So that nothing failed.
Injured/damaged party...why he write so?!
Is there a dead body...destruction prior disposal.
Photos? He thinks he deleted all but BKA may have found some (doubts if any).

Once again he wanted to deny any involvement but he was just naive.
