This is from the MSN article.

He also noted a reference on the wreckage: BB670.

"This code is not a plane's registration number, nor serial number. However... it's clear that this reference would allow a quick identification. In a few days, we will have a definitive answer," Tytelman said.

Finally!! Maybe there will be something definitive soon on the part and they can begin to retrace the currents etc in order to figure out a better plan to find the rest. It is the first real sign of hope in that direction, imo. *Fingers crossed*

So little chance it's from MH370? Drats, I came here as soon as I saw the NYT article saying it may be from our lost flight.

ETA: I need to refresh more often. lol Thanks for the update, Popsicle.

I was thinking the same thing, maybe this will help them come up with a more finite location of the plane. *Fingers tightly crossed*.

Snip:

American officials have a “high degree of confidence” that airline debris found on a French Island in the Indian Ocean appears to belong a Boeing 777, the same kind of aircraft as the missing Malaysian Airlines Flight 370.

I'm having to use my phone as this site is so slow on laptop, so forgive me any typos!

I have just read that Boeing have lost five 777s in total, three were at airports and there was the one shot down over the ukraine. If that's true (read in latest DM report and can't link at the mo) then this piece HAS to be from MH370!!

Based on ocean currents, it's plausible that #MH370 debris could have made it to Reunion http://on.mash.to/1Da397h

Arg, why are all the pics coming small instead of full sized when inserted inline?

Is it plausible that the ocean currents would have moved this piece of aircraft to this area?
Over 1 year has elapsed and depending on the ocean currents this piece of debris could have traveled many many miles?

Debris looks like Boeing 777

The source said there is a unique element to the Boeing 777's flaperon, a wing component, that Boeing observers believe they are seeing in photos.

Making the determination should be "very simple" because the serial numbers riveted to numerous parts of the plane can be linked to not only the plane's model, but the exact aircraft, said CNN aviation analyst Les Abend, who flew 777s during his 30 years as a pilot.
