I saw a pilot on TV a few days ago talking about transponders. He said it would be one of, if not the, last things either a pilot would turn off, or that would go off in a power loss, because it draws so little power.

I also read that B777's have two transponders on them.

I am however ruling out decompression off my list and I have no other option at this point then to believe the transponder was turned off or changed to a different signal on purpose.

Also Since the wing was just repaired and repainted Was the whole plane repainted? There are paints that block radar signals.

CNN reporting Malaysian officials have asked the people of Malaysia to "keep your mouths shut"!

Nice.:noooo:

So much for freedom of speech!

True, thank you, and as to flying being safe I 100% agree with you and this will not in the least change my habits, the likelihood of an accident like this is extremely extremely low to almost impossible. It's that, as you say, in this country they allowed stolen passport holders to get on the plane and a lot more. There should be an international convention that you must scan passports through the interpol database, that's just one of dozens of things coming out of this

In 5 years all passports will contain the owners DNA.

It will be checkable at the gate before you even enter the departure lounge.

Eventually, every baby born will have its DNA taken and registered and you won't get a passport if you aren't registered, just like birth certificates now. Youll probably take a DNA certificate home from the hospital instead of a birth certificate.

Little bit off topic but on the flightradar webpage how come there is hardly anything flying over Africa/Russia/China?

Asked what his theory was, Mr Rosenschein told the BBC: "Well the one I put forward was that the aircraft may have suffered a depressurisation.

"The initial reaction for pilots in that case would be to put on oxygen masks immediately.

"However, had they failed to do that the next option would be to turn off the airway in order to do a rapid descent.

"Without the oxygen masks they would have they would have passed out within a few seconds.

"That would have left the aircraft on autopilot heading in whichever direction they had turned the aircraft on the autopilot.

"I'm suggesting that they would have made that initial heading a reciprocal one back towards Kuala Lumpur airport.

Not the best newspaper but anyway

How could they get instantaneous DNA results?

What?!?! Is this serious or a joke? Is there a link? Incredible.

ETA: Never mind, I think MsFacetious' link might be what Isabelle is referencing. Correct me if I am wrong though! Understandable that Malaysia doesn't want rumors spread but I am annoyed they are asking for "moral support" when they have dropped the ball so much. I think everyone is supporting the search effort and is just fed up all the changing stories, especially with Malaysia repeatedly going back and forth on seemingly every point lol. They are just on the receiving end of what appears to be some well-deserved criticism.

I wonder how many submarines were in the Indian Ocean when the plane allegedly went down?

How could they get instantaneous DNA results?

When DNA testing was first developed it took litres of blood and weeks of time to analyse it.

Fast forward to today, when anyone can take a simple cheek swab and the results are 24 hours away.

In 30 years paper passports will be a fond memory.

You will need to present with all the relevant proof of ID, and submit to swabbing which will be encoded and embedded in a document via microchip, or most likely implanted on your body.

All airport s will be equipped with scanners which will read this chip, plus swabbing tests which are immediate - no lab required.

Technology is racing forward. Its only a matter of time before our own unique bar codes are used in place of ALL documents from passports to credit cards to library memberships. It will become standard.

Its almost like Mother Nature planned it that way. Our unchangeable identity is carried within u like a bar code on a can of peas.

Oh, yes, I agree. I'm also focusing on the lack of accurate info., the backtracking, subterfuge and generally shadiness of Malaysia. Just ridiculous.

It's Malaysia, not The United States!

I'm thinking why can;t they just do thumbprints? Or handprints? For example, at the gym at California State Long Beach, to get into the gym, you put your hand onto a scanner. It scans your handprint and then the doors slide open if you are recognized. We can't have anything like that with passports? Why not?

When the Helios flight decompressed and continued to fly until it crashed into a mountain in Greece the goverment knew it was happening, they just did not have a way to save the flight.

Malaysia is located in a much more paranoid part of the world where the countries watch each other all the time.

I just cannot understand that a plane was flying around for hours and no one knew. What the heck is going on??

Even with the Air France flight that took a few days to find, they knew what had happened they just needed to find the wreckage.

In this case it just looks like everyone is lost and confused. I just don't believe it. They are definitely hiding something. They may not know exactly what they are hiding but they are hiding something.

Bill Nye :loveyou: explains the "Black Box". One interesting thing, they can drop a microphone from a helicopter into the water to listen for the ping. I didn't know that.

http://www.cnn.com/video/data/2.0/v...-plane-bill-nye-flight-data-recorder.cnn.html
I suspect this is in part why the US believes the plane has crashed in the Indian Ocean. Submarines are detecting the black box pinging. If so, should lead them to the crash site soon. However, unlike the shallow Gulf of Thailand, the Indian Ocean is DEEP. As in 16,000 ft deep.

There would have been no network to hear the cell phones pinging. If an airliner doesnt have cell/or wifi capabilities, which this one did not, the cell phones would have been useless.

http://traveltips.usatoday.com/gps-work-cell-phones-21574.html

cell phones with GPS receivers communicate with units from among the 30 global positioning satellites in the GPS system. The built-in receiver trilaterates your position using data from at least three GPS satellites and the receiver. GPS can determine your location by performing a calculation based on the intersection point of overlapping spheres determined by the satellites and your phone's GPS receiver. In simple terms, trilateration uses the distance between the satellites and the receiver to create overlapping "spheres" that intersect in a circle. The intersection is your location on the ground.

AGPS..

http://www.wpcentral.com/gps-vs-agps-quick-tutorial

Most phones only have a chip which allows AGPS and some phone use GPS.

It is possible in theroy that one or more people could have a phone will full GPS abiltiy. JMO.

Those would lead to satellite pings. I believe.

I don't know anything about the Malaysian government, but if they are a communist nation the people there are not allowed freedom of speech. I couldn't live that way.

DNA is unalterable. The ultimate identification.

Eventually no one will need to do a family tree even. Everyone's DNA will become public record. There will be government held data bases tracking us all.

Maybe not for a hundred years, but eventually it will happen.

No one will force you to submit but if you want healthcare, bank accounts, passports it will be necessary

Kbd of like your ss numbers now
